Product arrived quickly with no damage to the packaging or product. I installed using two galvanized square u-bolts I had laying around on the front, and used two 3/8 galvanized bolts on the rear. I used lock and fender washers. The box is light and holds a lot of gear. However, just to beef it up, I cut a piece of particle board in the shape of the bottom and covered with outdoor carpet. I placed this inside. This will support the weight better having both sides of the trailer frame underneath. The only thing I didn’t like was the cutout for the hasp area is on the smaller side, limiting padlock size. Great value, if you are looking for something to store trailer related items. This box is not construction grade, therefore I will not be storing expensive items in it. ... show more

    • Better than the 'other' boxes

I had been looking for a tongue box for a while and was not satisfied with most of the products I saw on the market. Many of the lower priced options to not advertise material thickness, a major red flag. These boxes operate in harsh environments. I didn't want to go with something that isn't built to last. Then I came upon the Buyers Products box. Material thickness is clearly advertised. The design (I got the aluminum) is light weight, a major plus for those of us hauling 2000 lb GVWR rated trailers. Size is just right to hold a tarp, some wheel blocks, and some straps. And, best of all, it is MADE IN USA. Installing the product was straight forward. Line it up carefully before drilling any holes, and be sure to use a center punch to mark where you want to drill. One thing I was unsure of before I installed - this product does not have a gas spring to assist in opening. Some may count this as a reason to avoid (and I almost did too), but I find the simple strap design allows for full access to the open top, versus a gas spring that gets in the way if you're trying to load something bulky, like a propane tank or a tarp. Overall, this product met all of my expectations. 5/5 would recommend ... show more

Didn’t want to spend a lot of cash and this fit the bill. Measure to make sure it will fit. Has held up nicely and has kept dry inside. Locking latch is tight to open but very minor thing.

At the end of the day, it does seem to do what it's intended to do. It is pretty flimsy and lacks reinforcement at the typical connection points. I made a wood backing from 2x8 scrap wood to give it some rigidity at the back where I bolted it to the trailer. The hardware began to rust almost immediately.
