  • Unexpectedly Good
Style: 10x42
Had these on my watchlist for a while and bought them on a whim when I saw the crazy low price (considering that these are 3 times the price in NZ), figured it was worth the gamble of buying unseen. Optics are great, CA is much less than other non-ED binoculars I've used, not entirely eliminated but that's almost impossible so meh. Image is bright and sharp, perfectly adequate low light performance. These binoculars are somewhat prone to shake, that is pretty standard for most 10x binoculars, opt for 8x if you have shaky hands. Weight is pretty standard for the category, rubber armour is on the thinner side so I would avoid dropping these binoculars if you can. Comfortable to hold, armour is pretty grippy despite being thin. Locking diopter takes some getting used to, works fine. Focus is slightly stiff but will loosen with time, perfectly usable out of the box. Looks very stylish and proffessional if that matters to you at all. Accessories are basic, carry case is functionable but flimsy, will be purchasing a better one seperately. Objective lens caps are not the best and pop off the lenses at every opportunity. Strap is functionable but basic, have used better. All in all, if you are looking for good optics and either don't care about accessories or are happy to buy 3rd party accessories, these are an excellent choice! Considering the low price paid, amazing value! ... show more

  • Nice binoculars
Style: 10x42
I bought these from Amazon Warehouse so got a great price point. Very happy with these. I think a lot of them were returned because the 10x42 may have a bit more tendency to black out when looking at the peripheral than some others. But just about any binocular will black out if you don't use it right. As for the images, they're nice and clean with nice color rendition. Interestingly, they do have some field curvature, but the peripheral field is pretty darn sharp, but at a slightly closer focus point. So the net result is an apparent increase in depth of field when viewing 3D subjects like birds in a bush, livestock on a field, etc. To be honest, I'll take field curvature over peripheral coma any day of the week..and in the < $600 price bracket you're going to get one or the other... The sweet spot itself is fairly large. I bought them for birding and they are very nice for that with 8' min focus, very sharp images, great color and very smooth bokeh. Also has a very nice build quality. ... show more

  • After my swaro's and leica's I had to try something less expensive for 12's
Style: 12x50
Honestly, I would be happy with all busnell's if they were all this ED glass. Really an amazing bargain. I am an optics snob and I have no hint of disappointment with the glass or function. Worth double the price. Just got to try not to buy any more...

  • Not as good as expected
Style: 10x42
I own a pair of Bushnell L-Series 8x42's and they are better built and are optically better. I don't understand it, because it's not suppose to be better than the Engage Ben1042, but it is.

  • Bought for highschool football games - worked great.
Style: 12x50
Got these to have a better view of the local highschool football game - very happy. I was able to see very clearly, very close up to the action.

  • Very good binoculars for hunting compared to other popular and more expensive bins.
Style: 10x42
After over a year of using and comparing this binoculars with my Redfield Rebel binoculars I finally realized the difference. Note that I returned a binoculars with three times the price of Redfield. Just recently I returned another binoculars which is rated as being equal or better than $500 or more binoculars. After comparing this for countless times under the tree shadows and bushes, distant signs, structural details at long distances, dusk and dawn, cloudy and sunny I came to conclusion that it outperformed the other binoculars I mentioned above. My recent hunt involves arduous hikes to 10,000 feet with rapid ascend and this binoculars is a perfect companion due to its light weight, ruggedness, and EXO water/fog/dirt barrier. While I have only taken it outdoors only several times due to my reliance on my Redfield and now broken Steiner Predator, it will be with me from now on for all my hunting trips. Note that I believe that I have EDX Model (the Bushnell website shows EDX as BEN1042 and mine is BEN1042 SH) and I don't know about other models of Engage. ... show more

  • Very good glass, seem well made, not Bushnell's "Top" warranty
Style: 8x42
These are very nice binoculars - they are very similar to the Legend L series in terms of the construction. These have better glass, however. Field of view is the best I have seen for an 8x, at 426'. I like the rubber molded grip surface, however, I can tell that it will scratch easy. It won't affect performance, but if you are picky about stuff like that it might bug you a little bit. The low light performance is very good, as is the center clarity. The clarity toward the edges begins to diminish, however. There is *some* chromatic aberration, however it isn't noticeable unless you are really looking for it and have a trained eye to see it, and even then only in very bright high contrast lighting. I think for this price point, Bushnell ought to offer their lifetime warranty, not the limited warranty that it has. The Legend Ultra HD's and Legend M series have the unconditional warranty, and they are currently at a lower price point. The eyecups twist easily, but don't seem as sturdy or well designed as those from other companies such as Nikon or Vortex. I think they will work fine, however. They are light weight and pretty compact. Overall I like them a lot. Biggest gripe is the warranty. Vortex, Nikon, Burris and many others offer unlimited warranties with all their products. Get with the times Bushnell! ... show more
