The reason Bunn makes such a good cup of coffee is because the water is preheated and dispensed through the large spray head at a constant, optimal temperature. Our first velocity brew lasted around 7 years, and yes, ultimately developed a leak. We have a Mr Coffee, 10 cup in our RV, which I brought into the house while thinking about a replacement and we brewed 2 pots - with and without the 'strong brew' option, both brewed a similar strength coffee, but both slightly bitter, more decidedly with the 'strong brew' option which slows down the brew time. I haven't done scientific temperature measurement, but I understand the reason Bunn makes a better tasting cup of coffee. I'd like to have gotten more than 7 years out of our first velocity brew, but the price is reasonable for such great coffee. One downside is no automatic shutoff for the pot warmer. The fancy timer stuff is pretty useless on a Bunn because a full pot brews in 3-4 minutes. The other downside is they need to be turned off completely if you are not using it for more than a couple of days because the tank will run dry. This is definitely a coffee maker for those who brew at least daily. I did some research looking at other coffee makers, and there's lots of other machines out there, but the Bunn is hands down the best tasting coffee. Especially at this price level, I'm surprised Bunn is not consistently top rated. It does not have a clock, won't wake you up or allow you to start the brew cycle from your Bluetooth device, but it does make a smooth, delicious cup of hot coffee in a very short time.

We are coffee drinkers - gotta have it first thing in the morning. After many years we got really tired of waiting 10-12 minutes for a pot of coffee to brew, and started looking around for one that could brew faster. We found reviews for the Bunn Velocity and decided to try it. Success! This baby makes a full 10-cup pot of hot coffee in 3 minutes flat, and partial pots even faster. I like my coffee strong and my hubby likes it medium (weak lol) so we each make ourselves about a half pot and it works out great. (we have extra carafes because this isn't out first Bunn) The flavor is good, not weak - guess this is because it keeps a reservoir of hot water at all times. It's easy to use once you **read the instructions**; just set the carafe on the warmer BEFORE you close the lid where you put the water in. And buy the Bunn brand filters - other brands are mostly not quite tall enough and can overflow. A few other reviewers mention the basket overflowing if the coffee is ground too fine but we've never had any issues with that; we've always just used regular medium roast ground coffee from the grocery. Cleaning any coffee maker can be a chore, but this one's not too labor intensive unless you need to deep clean it for storage. We have naturally soft tap water so it doesn't get much sediment buildup, but I still run the coil thingy through about once a month. This is our 4th one in about 15 years. After 5 years, our last one was still making coffee just fine, but the warmer plate switch quit working. This happened to our first one as well. Overall a great fast-brewing coffee maker. We will definitely keep buying them until Bunn (heaven forbid!) stops making them.

My parents used Bunn makers in the 60's-70's and I've used them all my adult life and am now retired. They make the freshest coffee and under 3 min. By the time I get cups and creamer out the coffee is ready to be poured. The post office lost my package and Amazon refunded me asap but the pkg arrived a week later and I would like to keep it so will not be returning it.

We got this on Amazon less expensive than we could buy at our local stores -- significantly less, I don't mind supporting the local economy but not when it is $30 or more extra dollars!. We had a similar unit that we wore out after about 6 years! But we use these coffee pots all the time -- probably 6 or 8 times a day. It stands ready to perform with hot water waiting and I feel we get our money's worth and much satisfaction and pleasure. We start in the morning making piping hot water for our dogs' meals. They get a combination of oatmeal, algae, VITALITY, and a bit of left over meat like a chicken "mcnugget" equivalent (or if we have no leftover use a bit of chicken powder), with a bit of dry dog food mixed in on top. The water is sufficiently hot to make the raw oatmeal (the best for both humans and pets) cook and the supplements mix into the oatmeal and this yields a delicious meal our dogs can hardly wait for. Then it is time for our own session. We have an organic Kona Coffee Farm (KonaComfort.com) and so we never run out and also we never get tired of that wonderful cup or two and it comes out very fast and perfect each time with our Bunn Coffee Brewer. Once it has brewed -- in what seems like just a moment -- we pour our cups hot and then I do not let the burner stay on. If there is left over coffee, our organic Kona is so sweet I can drink it warm or even cold later. It does not waste! Afternoons, we will switch to making hot water for tea. We love good organic jasmine green tea, and the Bunn Coffee Brewer makes the water just perfectly. You can make one cup or two or the 10 cup whole pot -- just what you need at the moment, and it takes about as much time to measure and pour into the top as it does for it to come out hot on the bottom. The coffee pot has a valve on the top lid so that when you open to pour water in, it waits until you are finished and close the top door before it will send the water thru to make your hot water -- this is a nice feature which our last pot (being older) did not have. Later afternoon, it is time for our second pet feeding of the day. And we usually will have dinner about the same time -- 6PM ish, and often will have another fresh pot of our Organic Kona Comfort Kona Coffee. Usually we feel like another cup of Jasmine Tea later maybe around 9PM, and sometimes we will use the pot to make instant soup packets or those nice "cup o soups" or if in the mood before going to bed to make hot water for bourbon totties. All in all, this is an indispensable appliance that we use daily and from our experience will last for many years of constant service.
