Bulk Supplements is a fantastic company offering nothing more than the advertised products; no fillers, no additives, etc. It is simply what is advertised and in my opinion that is a quality product at very reasonable prices. A simple search to compare against similar products will provide evidence of that. CLA is definitely a debated supplement as to its effectiveness. I am an over-forty male who is very active, in shape, and body fat less than 15%. I tried this product at the advice of a friend who has a body type similar to mine and is a few years younger than I. My goal wasn't necessarily to try a magic pill to lose weight, but to determine for myself whether the claims that CLA can provide increased metabolic rate and aid in muscle development, in addition to the claims of fat reduction. Most CLA is derived from cattle, particularly milk fat. But due to the reduction of grass-feeding methods, among other things, the amount of CLA in cattle-derived products has declined and thus most people are lacking in CLA consumption. My experience in the few weeks of using CLA has been mostly a positive experience. I have noticed a reduction in body fat without changing my exercise regime or my diet (which still needs to be improved). It seems as though my digestion has improved thus cleaning out my system and apparently reducing my fat retention. My workouts seem to have improved only slightly, if at all, in terms of my energy levels and muscle function and gains. I do seem a bit more fatigued in the early afternoon after a standard 1.5-2 hr. morning workout. But I also seem to sleep better as a result. I believe consuming CLA has been an overall benefit for me. Like with most supplements, everybody will have different reactions and results. As far as Bulk Supplements is concerned, my experience has been quality products at the best prices I have found. Money is not wasted to enhance the products with taste or color. If you are looking for taste and color then stick to soda and candy. I find no deceit by adding a bunch of worthless or harmful crap to reduce the amount of the described product sold to the consumer. And there is definitely no money wasted on fancy packaging. I haven't taken c l a for quite some time. It seems To enhance muscle performance and definition. I am not a medical doctor I do not give out health advice but in my opinion, this seems to work pretty cool. It was a reasonable price. The size of the bottle is huge though you may take two tables a day. I wish it would give a little bit more elasticity to your skin. These CLA tablets were decently packaged in a sealable foil bag, and they seemed to be working just fine. 300 pills at a quantity of 1000mg for that price point is fair, as well. My only gripe is that they were massive, and everyone knows softgels rarely, if ever, taste nice.

Great brand cant beat the quality and price. I do wish they still came in the bag sense i feel bad throwing away the bottle everytime I transfer it to a glass bottle and keep them in the fridge. CLA is a must for me when I am shedding a few lbs it a great helping aid.

    • To take or not to take CLA? Tough call. Here's why.
Size: 300 Count (Pack of 1)
CLA, or, Conjugated Linoleic Acid, is actually mixture of several fatty acids. There are 28 of these. All 28 isomers have the general structure of linoleic acid: An 18 carbon chain, two double bonds; those double bonds two carbons away from each other. Hence, these all types of polyunsaturated fatty acids. Unsurprisingly, the one thing there is plenty of evidence for is that supplemental CLA will raise your triglycerides. What there is not especially strong evidence for, but which people tout CLA for, is weight loss. It might do that for some people, sometimes. Specifically, those most likely to benefit are diabetics who are extremely overweight. Of the 28 isomers, two are most common. One, called cis-9, trans-11 CLA (named based on where double bonds occur) is the form most prevalent in foods. It is produced in the stomachs certain herbivores (ruminants), such as cows, hence it is found in beef. The other common isomer is trans-10, cis-12 CLA. This form is not found in food, but it is sometimes as much as 40% of the content in manufactured CLE supplements. Unfortunately the effects of the two are very different. The trans-10, cis-12 CLA, rather than helping diabetics lose weight (which could help manage diabetes) might actually increase C-reactive protein which is a measure of the severity of diabetes. I have asked BulkSupplements what the breakdown of their product is: how much cis-9, trans-11? How much trans-10, cis-12? I have not received an answer, but if I get one l will update this review. There is plenty of evidence in animals for other benefits to the good cis-9, trans-11 form of CLA. Much of this may apply to humans, but it would be much better if the forms were broken down on the label. Unfortunately, the FDA does not require this. Ironically, the FDA got slapped on the wrist by Congress for being to kind to the pharmaceutical industry, which led to the creation of the supplements industry, but also to its neglect and even passive aggressive hindrance. You might just really have to try CLA at your own risk and see how it goes. Update: The company's own COA is silent on this, because they just do not test it, at least for the latest batch. ... show more
