  • A risk that was definitely worth taking
Size: 1.5 HP & 6" x 48"
The media could not be loaded. I bought this combo sander to replace a 23-year-old Grizzly G1014Z that recently died on me. The Bucktool is very solid for its price point. There is the option to bolt the base to a surface, but it stands quite sturdy and slipless on its four rubber feet. The belt portion features a guard that attaches on both sides of the bed with four bolts (as opposed to the Grizzly with its single bolt, which could rotate under pressure), and this guard holds a detachable fence that when properly squared up can be used as a sanding table when the belt is tilted to 90 deg. The table for the disc portion has protractor-shaped brackets that ride on metal supports on both sides, so there is no side to side play, in contrast to the Grizzly G1014Z, which had some sway with its single mounting arm. There was a bit of tightness on the supports that caused the table to stick during tilting, but some spray dry lube solved the problem. Refreshingly, the miter gauge is all metal and robust; I found some slight rocking play in the miter slot, but zero side-to-side slop. Compared to the Grizzly's 17" graphite platen, the Bucktool's is only 13.5". This is because the motor roller and the part of the belt after the guard are covered by a plastic shield; i.e., platen "real estate" is sacrificed for enhanced dust collection, which is indeed impressive, superior to the Grizzly's two ports. Unfortunately, the Bucktool's single port is a very narrow size, which for my 2.5" hose required an adapter, some duct tape, and a pipe clamp. Not a dealbreaker, though, seeing as how the Grizzly's two ports were entirely different sizes (go figure). If your surface is level, the rubber feet are installed, and the belt is on properly, vibration and noise are minimal (see video). It was a pleasure to sand with this machine: the high, sturdy fence made it easy to send edges and faces across the belt. Bear in mind that the outer edge of the sanding disc is very aggressive - its surface area is turning much, much faster than the center. Anticipating this, I skipped the factory 80 grit and went with 100, but it still sheered a corner of 1" walnut into a 45 deg chamfer before I knew it. Lastly, note: this iteration of the sander does not come with a stand, something I had to hash out with customer service, who were very responsive. The matter was resolved in the span of a day. ... show more

  • Great quality I will buy more Buck tools
Size: 1.5 HP & 6" x 48"
I was expecting a machine adequate to the use I build furniture and Architectural elements when I get into them I use the machines pretty heavily and I really was expecting some machine to just barely handle my most recent job but I have been very pleasantly surprised with the quality of this sander. Well done Bucktool. ... show more

  • A decent belt sander, found a good dust collector adapter
Size: 1.5 HP & 6" x 48"
A decent little belt sander. They could do better on some of their castings, i.e., the housing for the 10" disc is off-center a bit, so that if you don't get sand paper disc centered _exactly_, it rubs at the 9:00 position on the housing. This is rather annoying, but not a deal breaker. The dust collection port is a weird size, just under 2", but I found a 90 degree adapter that works perfectly for me: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F13JQ9XB?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 The small end slides onto the port connector snugly and secures with a hose clamp, and the large end is 2 1/4". Works great. ... show more

  • Fits the bill.
Size: 1.5 HP & 6" x 48"
Out of the box it appears to be solid and well thought out. Lots of power with stable tracking. I won't use it for production work but one may find it acceptable for that as well. Watch your fingers and keep your clothes tight to your body.

  • In a Class by Itself.
Size: 1.5 HP & 6" x 48"
This item was returned, but not because it was a bad machine or anything of the sort. In fact, it was one heavy but well made sander and having a one and one half hp motor, it was built to make a job easier. I had a sears sander many years ago, but it was nothing like this one. Coming in at 50 lbs., it's a heavy weight and built to last. I believe it to be a great value for the money, so if you're a wood worker, or even into some metal work, I have no doubt you will not have any problems with this sander. A shout out to Buck Tool for producing a well built machine. I'll be back for one, you can count on it. ... show more

  • Great value for a 6” belt sander.
Size: 1.5 HP & 6" x 48"
Packaged well. Only tried it out once so far but works great. I also designed a cover for the disk so I don’t loose any skin while using the belt sander. ( see photos)

  • Beast!!

A little bit on the pricey side but this thing is a Beast, I mounted it on a grinder stand so I can move it around in the garage.
