Description

One of the most loved species of cultivated Bonsai, the Pomegranate has a rich historical and mythical lore. The leaves are opposite or sub-opposite, glossy, and narrow oblong. The Pomegranate flowers are bright red. The Socotran Pomegranate has pink (not red) flowers. Pomegranates are drought tolerant. If too wet, root decay results from fungal infestation. The Pomegranate is tolerant of moderate frost, down to about 14º F. The name Punica is from the Phoenicians who were active in broadening its cultivation, partly for religious reasons. Comes with Humidity tray and decorative rocks to counteract the effects of indoor dryness and outdoor windiness. Excess water collects in the tray and slowly evaporates; increasing the humidity around the tree and improving the growing environment. Your bonsai tree thrives while windowsills stay dry and debris-free. A tray can also be used outdoors to improve conditions in dry or windy sites. Each live plant is shipped with the Phytosanitary Certificate as required by the USDA.

I ordered 3 different trees, which were all well packaged, and two arrived in amazing shape. However, the pomegranate tree looked like half was dead or dying. I thought maybe it was from being boxed, so I set it out on my south facing porch which receives good sun, and watered it every morning as the directions indicated. After about a week it had lost most of its leaves and was brown. I contacted Brussels Bonsai customer service via email and provided pictures of the tree as I unpacked it and then a week later. Lisa with Brussels responded quickly and sent out a replacement. My new tree arrived in a timely manner, was well packaged, and is beautiful, green, and has flowers and buds on it. I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. If you’re on the fence about ordering from this company, don’t be. Although this is currently listed as an indoor bonsai, the tag clearly stated that it is an outdoor tree and came with outdoor care instructions. You'll need to do some googling to find out the correct way to care for your tree indoors. The packaging held 90% of the dirt in place and there were no broken branches upon arrival. The dirt already has pellet fertilizer in it, so there was no need for any additional fertilizer. The color of the pot is an ugly pea-green color. The tree is a bit unkempt for a bonsai, but that means I get to shape it going forward this winter. There were already some flowers when it arrived, which quickly died. New buds began forming and I had a tree with numerous flowers, with new buds forming all the time. I use bottled water and water it from above the tree, ensuring the leaves and branches get moist while all of the soil is saturated until water runs from the holes on the bottom. My tree receives no natural light, it just sits under a single-bulb T5 High-Ouput LED grow setup. I have had many succulents and cacti flourish with this setup, and I'm glad to see my bonsai is also doing well. ... show more

Beautiful and healthy plant. Love the pot it come in tray and rocks. Plant still looks healthy and is growing. Do recommend this company would be buying from this company again for sure.

I wasn't sure if it would survive because it lost almost all leaves and then not only did the leaves come back but it's got the cutest little pomegranate, and I'm very happy with this Bonsai

I have been so excited for this bonsai! It came as described, mostly. There are no arrows on the box or anything that says fragile or handle with care so it was left on my porch on the side and who knows how many times it was thrown around. There are a lot of brown tipped leaves and some wilted all together. Hopefully I can revive it, however I am new to bonsai care so wish me luck. But it started dying the first week. I replanted it and moved it to a different area to see how it will do. So far an iffy. If it’s going to die or live!
