Description

The Jaboticaba Bonsai is a stunning Southern Brazilian beauty guaranteed to captivate audiences from Carnival to your living room. Jaboticaba Bonsai are upright, graceful trees that have glossy, dark-green foliage that comes in brushed with pink in the Spring. The bark is cinnamon colored and has a habit of slowly peeling off in curls, which adds to its already stunning visual impact. Mature Jaboticaba will flower and produce fruit all over its trunk and branches. The flowers are tiny and white and the fruit, which are round, dark and resemble small grapes, can be eaten fresh or made into jams or wine (they’re called Brazilian Grapes in case anyone asks).Each live plant is shipped with the Phytosanitary Certificate as required by the USDA.

The tree and the pot both look amazing. There's even some lovely moss on the soil; although it might have been nice if it covered more of the soil, there's only a small patch. When it arrived, it looked absolutely amazing; the directions said that we can expect it to lose about 20% of its leaves as it settles into a new home. In my case, it lost far more than that. However, I suspect a problem with my watering, which was exacerbated by the fact that I have a ceiling fan in the room. So if you got a ceiling fan you might need to water it more often, it does seem to be coming back now and I've got new leaves sprouting out. In my case I have this sitting behind an area where I do video conferences in film from time to time, and when I do I turn off the grow light, however the grow light doesn't have a pause function so the interruption and lighting may have also been a problem. Perhaps I can find a grow light that can be paused and resume without interrupting the cycle too much? Also I'm not quite sure about the optimum levels of lighting, I've got quite an intense grow light on it but I telescoped to grow light up as far as it would go. It does have an option to output light at different levels. I've got a light meter so I can measure the lighting levels reaching the plant but I just don't know what it should be, the directions didn't say precisely just that it makes a lot of light. ... show more

Brussel’s Bonsai is great! The tree arrived as described but started losing leaves shortly upon arrival, and as time went on leaves started turning brown and dropping. Contacted Brussel’s and they promptly responded with some questions and suggestions. After they didn’t work and more leaves were falling they sent out a replacement. The replacement tree is even larger than the first one and so far has only had a few leaves turn brown. Excellent customer service and very nice tree. The tree was well packed, looks healthy, is decent size could be bigger. Has lots of healthy green leave's, zero leaf drop, soil was not dried out. Realistically my only complaint and reason for 4 stars is it’s a split trunk which is less desirable IMO, but I will keep it and do my best to ramify it. ... show more

I bought a Jaboticaba bonsai. It was a beautiful tree however; it died. I gave it another try and purchased a second one. It died. I am usually good with plants as I have many. I babied both trees. The tree looks great, and came out of the box in much better condition than I expected. The trunk seems a little thin for the size/age of the tree, esp relative to the pic. But I like the shape so much it doesn't matter.

Leaves dead, small branches broken off. After a week starting to look a little better. This is supposed to be a Bonsai Tree, looks more like a bush pruned down. Extremely weird branch division and the trunk is a smaller diameter at the pot than higher up. No returns, but the seller says to contact them with any issues.
