  • I'm glad I ignored the negative reviews
Style: MFC-9330CDW
I didn't know which printer to buy. Every single printer had way too many negative reviews. I finally went to a store that had the next model up where the only difference was duplex scanning and printing and I scanned a color photo to see just how bad the quality was. Well I don't see how you could expect better quality out of laser than what it put out. I'm so happy I did that and bought this model. It takes a few seconds to get started, but then multiple copies come out plenty fast enough for any small business. If you are making that many copies and need extremely high speed, then spend a couple thousand on a high output machine. This printer is all that you could ask for in a small business situation. Faxing is easy, but you need a firm touch on the numbers. But the touch screen works very easily. It scans quickly and set up was a breeze. It does take a little while to load the drivers on the cd, but once everything is installed, it worked flawlessly, and found my wireless connection quickly. My only negative experience was that Amazon lowered the price $40 one day beyond the limit of getting the $40 refund. ... show more

  • Very nice printer. Strongly recommend not allowing firmware updates.
Style: MFC-9330CDW
Works great! I haven't had it long enough to rate durability, but so far it prints when I want it to, and doesn't spend minutes warming up, as my inkjets always did. I print only once or twice a month, so the inkjets would get pretty dried out. Anyway, it was easy to set up for usb connectivity, and scans and prints fine. Photos are very "flat", and don't have the "pop" that inkjets provide, but they're still accurate and easy to look at. UPDATE ---> Do NOT let Brother update the firmware!!! I allowed the firmware update, and 3 DAYS later it was still trying to complete. Now, it won't print anything, and it's an ugly doorstop. 2nd Update --> Ok, I got this working. It still doesn't "know" what firmware version it's using, but it prints again. ... show more

  • Great All-Purpose Printer
Style: MFC-9330CDW
On the whole I'm definitely satisfied with this printer. There are a few things that could be better, but for everyday printing it gets the job done and has a lot of other nice features; like wifi connectivity, a high resolution scanner, and double-sided, colour printing. I previously owned an inkjet printer so not having to buy ink every single month is hugely appreciated. The toner cartridges only seem to cost about twice as much as ink ($100 vs $50) but are lasting so much longer that I haven't even replaced one yet - despite thousands of pages printed. When it's fully up and running, the printer is noticeably louder than a typical inkjet, but that's to be expected with any device this size. Normally, the printer remains in a sort of "sleep mode", ready to wake on a moment's notice for print jobs, but not making any noise at all as it waits. As I mentioned, it is big, but it's cube-shape is very space efficient relative to other similar printers out there; it has a tabletop footprint maybe only double that of a typical inkjet printer. Print speed is very good for single sided documents; spitting out dozens of pages per minute. Double-sided printing however, while still good, seems slower than it should be. The printer needs to fully eject each page, suck it back in, and flip it over in order to print on both sides. The fact that you CAN print double-sided pages is still a huge plus tho even tho I'm sure sure there are other laser printers that duplex more efficiently. When it comes to colour printing, this printer does very well. Colour printing speed is the same as monochrome (as in, very fast) and the quality is easily comparable to an average ink-jet printer. Laser printers are usually known for having bad print resolution, especially in colour, but this one has never printed out anything I looked at and was disappointed with. Maybe it's not photograph quality, and as far as I know you can't run glossy paper thru it, but for everyday colour printing on normal paper it works very well. This printer is probably overkill for most people that rarely print things, but for anyone in academia, or with a home office, or who needs lots of pages printed quickly, this is a great moderately-priced printer with plenty of very useful features. ... show more
