I purchased 2 about 5 weeks ago (one for me and one for my wife). I almost returned them upon receipt as both had scratched screens and one was very squeaky and I can't help but think these scooters were used as they just don't seem or look brand new. I ended up keeping them (WD40 helped with the squeaks and I ignored the scratches on the screens). Today, we took them out after they both received a FULL CHARGE and after about 5 minutes, my wife's shut off by itself while we were riding. I knew the battery was full but it wouldn't turn back on. We kept trying troubleshooting and every once in a while it would turn back on (and show a full battery) but each time within 10-15 seconds it would shut back off again. We would troubleshoot again and eventually would turn on again and shut off again after 15ish seconds. This went on and on for over an hour and we never were able to get it to work. When we got back to electricity source we tried charging it, but the charger just stays "green" which it does when battery is fully charged. We have been very much enjoying these scooters but the fact one has already broke down in less than 5 weeks of ownership and currently is not operational is not okay. This doesn't even account for that we had to push the scooter back approximately a mile after it broke down. I called the number listed for defective product or troubleshooting and they told me they do NOT handle those issues. The told me there is nothing they can do and nothing they will do. I'm furious because this completely stopped working 1 weeks after the 30-day warranty and the phone number provided to issues told me they won't do anything. I asked to speak to the supervisor but the supervisor was "unavailable" so now I have to wait 3-days until Monday to probably be told the same thing. Do NOT buy from Brookstone. They sell what appears to be used or refurbished products that break right after warranty/return window expires and then they refuse to do anything to assist and dont care at all.

I JUST PURCHASED ONE AND NOT BAD. IM A LITTLE CONFUSED .ITS SAYS 500 WATT BUT THE BOOKLET SAYS 350 WATT .THE RIDE IS GOOD IM 190 LBS I DON'T KNOW ABOUT 19 MILES BUT ITS STURDY AND THE RIDE IS SMOOTH SO FAR. 4 STARS STILL RIDING WILL LET YOU KNOW IN FURTHER UPDATE UPDATE..DAY 3 ,THE MOTOR IS VERY STRONG ,NOT HIGH TORQUE BUT IT DOES EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED, 16 MPH IT GOES A NICE DISTANCE I MANAGED TO GO UP A NICELY STEEP GRADE AT 11 MPH AND MADE ALL THE WAY UP, THIS SCOOTER IS GREAT FOR THE PRICE.

It feels like you’re riding a tank… that’s good if you can make the ride comfortable. It is not. No matter how I adjust the brakes, they’re too sensitive but also hard to pull. The folding design makes the handle bars go to the side which is awkward, and the flip doesn’t hold in place very well. It has unfolded on me once and that was a lot of weight to handle falling at once. And what I’m most upset about is my fully charged battery only lasted 10 miles.

Works well. I'm right at the weight limit and it does take a few seconds to get to top speed. But it does reach 16 mph (provided the built in speedometer is accurate). Haven't been on a ride after dark, but near sunset, the headlight didn't seem to illuminate much. My biggest concern is finding a way to lock it up. May have to create a custom modification to be able to add a lock/chain. Also of note, the "cruise control" function hasn't kicked in yet for me. Instructions say if you maintain a steady speed for 6+ seconds, the cruise control automatically engages. But when I've hit top speed and held it for longer than 6 seconds, it doesn't engage and the scooter slows when I release the acceleration. I don't think that will be a huge issue to me, but may be an issue for anyone expecting to use that feature. Have yet to test range. I'm not planning to regularly push the range limits, just a mile or two round trip.
