  • Incredible!!!
"Sometimes you have to find the patience to wait for good things instead of seeking it out." Sometimes you find a diamond in the rough. You search through Amazon looking for that "one book" hoping you find a gem. I'm notorious for reading tons of samples. After reading Micalea's synopsis, I was more than intrigued. I immediately grabbed the sample and found myself one clicking after only a few pages. Next thing you know, it's 1 am and I CAN'T. STOP. READING. Needless to say, thank God I didn't have to work the next day or I would've been a hot mess. Waking up the next morning, I dove right back in. And, WOW, this book was EVERYTHING. I'm a big believer in fate, everything happening for a reason (even though I know sometimes we won't find out the "why" while we're here. I find that books land in my lap when I need them the most and often it's to teach me a lesson. Micalea's book taught me lots of lessons. It wasn't a story perfectly wrapped with a pretty red bow. It was real, it was raw, it was life. Her writing style is brilliant, you feel as if you are on a journey with these characters and come to know them as your friends. You will fall and you will fall hard. There were times I laughed out loud, and other times where I sobbed, big fat tears and was so grateful that I was home where no one could see me and my ugly cry outburst. This is not your typical love story, but it is a beautiful one. There is a girl who meets a boy and they share a love so deep, so strong, so incredible that you actually have to catch your breath hoping that some day your own children find a love so pure. Happiness isn't always easy to hold on to and sometimes you have to reach out of your comfort zone to find out where you fit. This is a story that teaches you to never give up, to hold onto your loved ones, cherish each and every moment and know that life doesn't always turn out the way you thought it would, but God is it a beautiful journey. I know I'm being vague, but I went into this story knowing NOTHING and you should too. Trust me, you do not want this story spoiled for you. This was the first book I've read by Micalea and it won't be my last. Just an incredible, amazing story. "When your nights seem endless, know that the sun will always shine again." ... show more

  • wasn’t my top choice of reads, but happy that I got into it.
This book definitely pulls at your heart strings. From love, to loss, to accepting, and then back to finding love (but not really looking for it) it’s an amazing story. I’m happy she got the ending that she deserved. ♥️

  • Emotional and heartwarming
I really enjoyed Bring Me Back. This was so heartbreaking in the beginning man. I knew it was going to be something of course. I know some people didn't fully feel the same way or felt there was to much... "it should be Ben, here" "it's supposed to be Ben" "oh Ben" "Ben Ben Ben" but like they said everyone deals with grief differently. I do feel, Blair was only dealing with it/everything The best she knew how. She had to learn to deal with iron her own time. I wouldn't judge someone for it either. Grief and depression is something no one wants to feel. It sucks. I do feel bad about how things turned out with Ben though, and feel the same, that it sucked, wtf! Ben was so sweet, hot, loving, caring, and perfect all together with Blair. My favorite and what I really LOVED so much was the paper crane's, they were truly the best throughout the story. It just made me want to go and make some myself. Ben and Blair were truly meant to be. Of course no one has control of their future and life doesn't always work out how you want it to. But also even though life may not go as planed you can still come out with miracles and it doesn't mean it's the end for you. I think Blairs friends were the best, and her parents were awesome. I especially loved the connection Blair and her dad had, it was really cute and sweet at times. You could also feel the frustration and caring-ness from her mother. Even Ben's mother and family was so sweet. My heart breaks for them. Then there's Ryder, who is so sweet, caring, and calming. It's always nice to have someone who knows what your going through to talk to and to give you good support when you need it. I think that in the end Ryder and Blair were what was best for each other and what they both needed. I thought this book was just perfect and another one of my favorite parts were the stages. Denial, grieving, anger, depression, acceptance, and so on. It truly is what a lot of people go through. I'm glad I finally read this book and like all of micalea's other books it was really good and I could read it again. I just can't wait to see what she comes up with next. 5 stars for me! ... show more

  • A Beautiful and Emotional Story of Love and Loss
I'm always on the lookout for new authors and books to read and was recommended Bring Me Back based on some of my recent purchases. I had never read anything by Micalea Smeltzer before but the cover looked intriguing and the enigmatic book description made me very curious so I decided to purchase it. I really had no idea what to expect from this book but I enjoyed it quite a bit. "Life can be cut short in an instant, so make sure to live with no regrets and love with all your heart." Blaire Kessler and Ben Carter have known each other for a long time and, now that they are in their late twenties, they are getting married soon and eager to start their new life together. Unfortunately, even the best-laid plans don't always work out and the protagonist needs to find a way to cope with everything. "But love...love is never wrong. If there's anything that's right in the world, it's love." Bring Me Back was a good, emotional story of love and loss and it really pulled at my heartstrings. I could feel the protagonist's emotions and grieved, cried, and laughed. I actually picked this book to read while on vacation but there are some parts in the book that are sad and will make you want to cry so I don't consider this book to be a lighthearted read. There are, however, parts where the author's sarcasm and humor shine through and I greatly appreciated that because it helps to balance out the sadness. Overall, this book was a good find and I will be looking to read other books by Micalea Smeltzer. Be prepared to read this with a box of tissues! ... show more
