Description

"I don't need a fucking babysitter."Out and proud NFL star tight end Tad Roarke has success, money, and fame. Just about everything. Except a good reputation. After being outed by the media as a promiscuous cheat, sponsors are dropping him left and right. To make matters worse, he's been targeted as the next victim of an anti-gay celebrity serial killer. The FBI works with his team to protect him, assigning agent Bryce Finnegan as his undercover bodyguard. But Tad doesn't like Bryce from the get-go. The fed thinks he's a spoiled brat. Maybe he's right. Regardless, Tad doesn't plan on proving him wrong, and he'll do anything to make Bryce's job even more difficult. Still, as much as he hates him, he can't deny the guy's hot as hell...and he wouldn't mind passing a few balls around with him in the sheets."I don't get paid enough for this."Agent Bryce Finnegan is no stranger to undercover work. With a background in busting drug cartels, he's used to his life being on the line. He's not used to putting up with spoiled rich kids who don't realize how good they have it. When he meets Tad Roarke, he expects him to be a jerk. And he's right. But the more time he spends with him, the more he realizes that all Tad's attitude is little more than bravado. He's not an asshole, and the media has twisted more than a few facts to tarnish Tad's reputation. Now Bryce isn't just worried about protecting this guy from a serial killer, but about falling in love in the process.Tight End is a stand-alone gay romance with an HEA and no cliffhanger. Read more

  • Great read!
Format: Kindle
Despite being a huge football fan, I find that I tend to steer away from reading books with football players. I'm not sure why. But after reading this book, I'll be looking for more. I really liked the quick pace of this book. The short chapters and the dual POVs kept me on my toes. There was a couple of times I had to stop to make sure I knew whose head I was in but I liked knowing how both Tad and Bryce were feeling. I liked the electricity between them and the push and pull. Neither one of them was willing to give an inch. I liked the crazy drama and the peek behind the "celebrity life." We had good supporting characters (except that jerk Jordan) and there was a great mix of humor, emotion and action. ... show more

3.5 stars. A good read, but not one of my favorites from McCormack. I liked the tension between MCs and the basic storyline. As usual, McCormick writes fun sex scenes with just the right touch of angst. A couple of things threw me out of the story on this one though. Mainly inaccurate portrayals of law enforcement and a lack of research. But even with that, I still enjoyed it and finished the book (which I often don't if there are inaccuracies). It's a testament to his writing that I didn't put it down. ... show more

  • football and fun - great read
Format: Kindle
So good... these two damaged guys had to work through a lot of issues to get together, on top of solving a mystery. The build up and suspense kept me turning pages. It was nice to see the two main characters get to know each other and not just insta-love (not that there's anything wrong with that) but it really helped the story. Nice plot, great well developed characters that I cared about, and some fun stuff in there too. Great read! ... show more

  • Okay
Format: Kindle
This was decent enough. Until you get to the fight scene. That was just...ludicrous. Overall, not a bad read to fill time with. A bit cliched.

  • Coulda
Format: Kindle
I would have given it 5 stars, even with the painful sex, excessive media, and zero football . However, I draw a line at retiring from a sport. Why do sportsmen in so many novels have to retire to be in a relationship? I find it boring, so 4 stars.

  • The FBI man and the NFL player take us on a ride !
Format: Kindle
Bryce's last love put himself in harm's way and took the bullet, saving Bryce's life. Bryce, 30ish, FBI Agent with blue eyes, is still not over his anger, and is still marked by childhood abuse. He doesn't like the spoiled footballer. Tad is an arrogant "dick chaser", who has been targeted by the serial killer, who is murdering celebrity gay men. We get a rocky start with these two not liking each other. We don't like either one. Tad is a brat, and Bryce is drinking and not good at his bodyguard job. We get little info on the killer, and for a while he's forgotten. The men have wild, raw and angry sex, and then strike a deal to give each other that release for as long as Bryce is there. Tad won't need to go looking for sex and put himself in danger. In bits at a time we are fed info on our two men's pasts, and slowly we feel sorry for them, and we see a smidge of hope. The men each have inner conversations which help us decide what type of guys they really are. Sometimes it is hard to like them, but next thing we know, we are drawn in again. We still hope. We still see some tenderness, and caring for each other, that continues our hope. Wham ! The killer strikes, people are shot, we get a wrap up and epilogue, too. This was hard to rate, and I see people either seem to like it or hate it. I was on the fence. Give it a try. ... show more

  • Boys with balls and guns? What's not to love?
Format: Kindle
Did you ever read a book that put you through a myriad of emotions so real you had to pinch yourself as a reminder that you were reading not living a story? Devon has certainly created a cast of characters and a story line that delivers that and more. From the depth of the characters to the plot twists, Tight End gives the reader a little bit of everything that makes a book worth reading. The Tight End and the Bodyguard. Both with past issues that interfere with finding love but are conquered to provide the ever-loved HEA. Give it a chance. You won't be disappointed. ... show more
