I like this lamp, it’s stylish but not particularly sturdy. I bought it for a grow light but it couldn’t support my heaviest bulb. I had to put a smaller, lower quality bulb in it so that the lamp didn’t fall over. I did expect this because it was mentioned in other comments.

First, let me say the lamp looks good and works fine. It was the foreplay that was the problem. It arrived in a small box that seemed to have exhausted all the available packing tape in the universe. Once I took a chain saw to get through the packing tape, I opened the box to find a 2" long cockroach embedded in the foam, staring back at me like Han Solo after a deep carbon freeze. One latex rubber glove later, the cockroach was removed. However, I sadly discovered that the manufacturers had saved what little packing tape remained in the universe for the styrofoam inside the box. Why one needed to tape again at this point is beyond me given that the outer box was secured like a reinforced missile bunker. This, of course, made me wonder how the cockroach got in there to begin with. It would seem impossible miss during packaging and it certainly couldn't have squeezed through the 50 Days of Grey bondage that was the outer packaging tape. At any rate, I set about trying to delicately remove the tape from the styrofoam only to find that it would explode like a silly string can each time I tried to remove it. The burst sent styrofoam everywhere -- in the air, on the floor, out the front door, down the hall, and into my neighbor's apartment. Because of all the tape, this scene was repeated over and over again until I had what amounted to a small ski resort of white snow on my living room floor and a bundle of discarded packaging tape. Somewhere in there, buried where only trained K9s last used during a Turkish earthquake could find it, was a lamp. I was, of course, pessimistic that the lamp would be put together easily, given the travails with the cockroach, styrofoam, and BDSM taping practice. But, I was happily disabused of my pessimism -- the lamp was easy to put together and it looks nice. There were a couple of small dings on the base of the lamp, which was surprising given the apparent care and thought given to the packaging. I would not buy again simply because of the cockroach, but I'm reasonably happy with the lamp.

I love the look of this lamp, and so desperately wish it was manufactured more sturdily. Upon receipt and assembly everything went smoothly until I got to the head of the lamp. Already assembled, all I had to do was tighten the bolts… which would not tighten. The bolt on the head of the lamp (which is quite heavy) was barely long enough to screw into the female side, and was quite threadbare at the end making it almost impossible to connect. Once connected, it would not screw tight enough to hold the head of the lamp up… Somehow after about 30 minutes of fiddling with it, trying to move the electrical cord inside to get the screw to better connect, BY A FLUKE I got the screw to stay and tighten. I am deathly afraid of adjusting the head of the lamp for fear it will fall apart again. I should have returned it, but was so relieved when I got it to stick. Now, of course, it’s too late if I ever do adjust it and it pops off for good. You get what you pay for… Again, it’s a beautiful lamp. This may have been a manufacturers fluke… but it’s very unfortunate.

The only improvement I can see, would be a touch sensitive on/off switch so it could be turned on or off while sitting.

The box that arrived I was surprised could contain this lamp. It was tiny, the packaging was tight and well done. I am sick of styrofoam packing materials though and wish it didn’t have two chunks of styrofoam to box it in. It was really easy to setup. I feel it is stable and will work well in my office. The bulb died though in about 20 mins. I was surprised by that but had a replacement on hand ready to go. Overall for the price it’s not cheap plastic which is a bonus.
