Similar to the Breville Smart Oven, but in a smaller, more compact design, this 1800-watt oven offers exceptional cooking convenience while taking up less space on the counter. The unit's 3/5-cubic-foot nonstick interior can accommodate a 12-inch pizza or four slices of bread at a time, while its push- button and turn-knob control panel makes it easy to program. Turn the control dial to select the function--options include Toast, Bagel, Bake, Roast, Broil, Pizza, Cookies, and Reheat. The oven's Element IQ "smart" sensor technology puts the power where it's needed most to ensure energy-efficient operation. For each of the eight pre-set functions, Element IQ automatically adjusts the power and calculates the cooking time. The time and temperature for the pre- set programs can also be manually adjusted to accommodate individual preferences--the oven will even remember the new settings for next time. Use the second control dial for setting the time (from one minute up to two hours) and for adjusting the temperature (from 120 to 450 degrees F), as well as for selecting the number of slices and for setting the toast shade, from light to dark. The control panel also offers a large start/cancel button, a defrost button for frozen foods, and a temperature-conversion button for recipes with cooking temperatures in Celsius. The oven's easy-to-read backlit LCD screen shows the current function, temperature, and adjustments made--plus it illuminates orange to indicate preheating and cooking, then blue to indicate the end of the cooking cycle. Other highlights include a tempered-glass door, three rack positions, and a front-access removable crumb tray for quick cleanup. Accessories include a 10-by-10-inch enamel baking pan and a 10-by-10-inch enamel broil rack. Attractively housed in coated steel with a strikingly modern design, the countertop oven measures 16-1/2 by 14-1/4 by 10 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

After checking many brands & reviews chose this one. Highest rating/reviews of many I had checked. Paid a little more, but it's reflected in the product build, durability, look, & feel. This non-convection model works exactly as I had wanted & expected. Note: The oven's outer surface does get very hot, burn you hot. It comes with a large metal tray and a drip-tray. I bought a 2-pack of separate trays which are slightly smaller, & they allow for some heat-flow around them. Two very minor annoyances: The cycle completion-jingle is very quiet, and can be missed if TV is playing. But the On/Off button light-ring turns from red to off, & the temp/timer screen turns from orange (set/running) to blue (done/off), so a glance easily indicates if done. When no longer is use, after a few minutes the screen powers-off -nice. You can "program" the oven just by setting the temperature/time & darkness/#toast slices before activating the oven, and it saves that. When you turn the selector knob, your saved settings appear for that specific selection -nice. But they revert back to default if there is a power-outage or unplugged. UPDATE : Nearly two years old and used every single day and we are just as pleased as the day it first arrived. There are some reviews which claim it wouldn't last 6 months or a year, well the Breville unit we received is rapidly approaching its second birthday. Actually, with this unit, we use our regular oven less and less. I like the way this unit cooks but I really like the way it reheats food. Where a Microwave will warm food much faster, it also tends to make some meats "rubbery". Not the Breville toaster oven, it warms the food through uniformly and doesn't "change it" the microwaves can. This oven is also very good for crisping things like french fries, breads, etc. Whether its as simple as heating up my wife's daily raspberry Pop tarts or baking cookies or making bread, this oven has done it all. Very good for pizza's as well........ We have cooked a wide range of items in this oven and it's used at least once everyday. Does my two years of use change my rating of this unit? No, I still rate it very highly and we are very happy with this toaster oven. We have even bought others this same toaster oven as a gift and they have indicated they are pleased with it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ordered this as a surprise for my wife. Her last toaster oven recently went to the appliance yard in the sky and she had mentioned that she wanted another toaster oven, but not a cheapie that are sold at the local stores. Imagine her surprise when it arrived, only to be immediately followed by disappointment that there was damage to the shipping box and it transferred to damage to the oven right in the center of the rear and top of the oven. I contacted Amazon immediately and they shipped a replacement which we had in just a few days. I returned the damaged oven the same day i received it. The return process couldn't have been easier. My wife is very pleased with this oven's consistency and it's ease of use. It's also a very good looking appliance. We were in Best Buy recently and they had the same oven at a price $90 higher than what I paid Amazon. Check out the plug on the cord, another indication that Breville is paying attention to how their product is actually used. Impressive. The oven is well made, is an attractive appliance and has the look, feel and function of a quality appliance. We have now used it for about a month and my wife uses it now instead of the big oven for many meals. This is one of those purchases which I looked forward to receiving and am now glad I spent the money. This is heads and shoulders above a Black and Decker or other similar low price point toaster oven. The size is also perfect to be left out on the counter in the corner where my wife wanted it kept. Unpacking it was a bit challenging as the shipping box is so tight i had to open it on both ends to get the boxed oven out. I made the mistake of returning it the first time because i inserted the crumb tray wrong (upside down) and thought it didn’t fit. My mistake. If you place the crumb tray in wrong, just flip it over and it fits perfectly This is my second Breville Compact Oven which lasted me over 12 years. It still works but the oven function is no longer accurate for baking. The new one works perfectly and fits in my small kitchen. Its easy to use even if you don’t read the instructions, however I recommend reading the manual. It’s very easy to clean but do not use harsh cleaners or you will ruin the crumb tray. That happened to me on my first oven and the company has great customer service and didn’t charge me for replacement of my ruined crumb tray. I highly recommend this oven. It is dependable, easy to use and clean and is by far the safest toaster oven i ever owned. The best value for size and functionality. ... show more

    • Very satisfactory little oven and toaster
I have had this little oven since January, so have had lots of time to use it. It's great! It fits nicely on the end of a kitchen counter, keeps its baking temperature very well, has easy access and a surprisingly large baking pan. A large chicken breast, or two small ones, cook evenly and well. Its toasting options are a little hard to figure out at first, but they are very accurate. The same dial controls the number of slices and the length of the cycle. You have to push the dial on the bottom, then turn it to choose the options. I particularly like that it turns itself off, but does not pop open or eject the slices like an old-fashioned toaster. (My husband thinks it takes too long, but it works for me as I am usually fixing another part of breakfast at the same time.) It is a little expensive, but dependable quality is! I would give it a fifth star if it was just an inch higher, so it would bake something as large as a small turkey breast half. ... show more
