I have had this food processor for about a week now and I am over the moon with how amazing this thing is. I originally had a great food processor, a Kitchenaid that was about 8 years old. I gave it to a friend when I purchased a new Cuisinart food processor with a spiralizer...it turned out to be a piece of garbage that had really cheap parts so it was back to looking for another food processor. My research showed that a lot of the food processors today are made much lighter weight and are made out of less sturdy material. I was not happy with that as they break easily and can sometimes slide around if they're off balance. I was hesitant to spend this much money on a food processor, especially with the varied ratings on Amazon and a few other sites. The good: Right out of the package, you could tell the device was solid. It was heavy, sturdy, and even the plastic bowl was higher quality than the previous ones I had purchased. I am in love with the slicing disc - you can see the difference in thickness of slices. It's great! I can slice incredibly thin or really thick, which is amazing for various dishes and dehydrating! The slices are consistently the same size, no leftover piece thumping around in there after it has sliced the majority of the veggie or fruit. My previous food processors would leave a chunk of food that it would not slice or grate. The sound. This thing is insanely quiet. I did not think there was such a thing as a quiet food processor but this is it. I was not looking for this feature but it's nice. It DOES make noise, just much quieter than the others I've had. I can continue to listen to the audio book or carry a conversation without yelling while using the machine. It's fast. I mean, really fast. Not that all food processors are not efficient but this will slice through the food much quicker than the previous ones I've had. I like the timer. If I need to blend, whisk, or kneed something for a certain amount of time, I can set it. It also tells you how long you've been blending. I like having the option of a large or small bowl but this is not a unique feature to this machine. They do create a leak proof environment so if you want to make something liquid in the top and then move on to chopping something solid in the bottom, you can do that without any issues. The bowls are pretty sturdy. I have not seen gaps that trap food or water that lead to mold/mildew growing. Will update if I find any. The parts to the chute stay in place without any weird twisting to get parts to lock. I love this as my last one was hard to lock the parts together and the small chute would always fall out and thus broke. The small chute can serve as a small measuring cup as well! I really like the storage for the blades. My first one did not have this and it was always tricky to find a place to store them that would be safe and not result in finely sliced finger tips. The variety of discs is also quite nice. The fry blade does thin strips of fries. I have used both of the s blades and they work wonderfully. I have not used the other blades/discs as of yet. There is a brush included to make clean up easy as the device is not dishwasher friendly. The Cons: Size - this is a large device and would not have worked in past apartments where size is a constraint. Be sure to measure before buying! I'm glad I now have a place large enough to store the food processor and attachment box. I would say the price but I have a feeling long term, this device will pay for itself. I did worry about the price and justifying the cost. However, we use the food processor all the time, hoping this will hold up to years of use. Washing - not recommended to put in the dishwasher. This isn't a huge problem, I just hate washing dishes by hand when you have a dishwasher available. However, it's very easy to clean and there is a brush included. There are no other cons as of right now. Other thoughts: I might have to buy the dicing add on as this food processor is amazing to use and would love more control over diced veggies. ... show more

  • Breville Sous Chef - AH-MAH-ZING!!!
Color: Stainless Steel
I've been ogling this product for months and my husband surprised me with it! Have had it since mid-December and have to say that I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!!!!!! Breville never disappoints!!! We're a household of two plus a dog and I use this just about every day. Meals around here were healthy before the sous chef, but now they're even healthier because I can (and now want to, even after a hectic workday) chop, grate, slice, etc much faster with more fresh foods, portioned slices etc. I can focus on experimenting with flavors, finding creative new recipes etc rather than spending precious time with chopping, grating etc. To date, I've tried all parts except the dough blade and emulsifying disc. The least used so far are the julienne and french fry/vegetable stick discs but the few times that I've used them, they've worked perfectly -- all the same size, pretty, perfect! I plan on using them more. The most often used: The grating disc's coarse and fine sides are incredible. No residual pieces left on the blade! It is fast! Grated 6 pounds of zucchini in under 30 seconds, a pound of cheese in under 5 seconds. Too long a list--I grate food just to see it in action! The slicing disc's adjustable blade is AH-MAH-ZING! I've tried the ultra thin setting to the thickest and the slices are even and beautiful! (lemons, limes, tomatoes, mushrooms, strawberries...you name it! Maybe freeze really small berries first though). The S blades chop like there's no tomorrow! Be light on the pulsing - it's fast! Purees come out beautifully. I've made ground beef, using this S blade - the texture of the burgers were spot on. And even made ice cream (a healthy version made out of frozen bananas), using the S blade. I use the small bowl to chop herbs, but most often use the larger bowl. The product is easy and safe to use (blades are super sharp so be careful when handwashing). The appliance is not noisy at all. The up and down timer is a plus - something I love with Breville products. Cleanup is a breeze and the case that holds all of the blades and accessories is a bonus. The spatula and brush have come in really handy. The case remains on top of our fridge for easy access. I'd love to leave the base and bowl etc on the counter, but we need the counterspace, so it's tucked away in a cabinet. It's about 20 pounds and fairly easy to handle. If you're looking for a fast, hassle-free, easy to use, safe, dependable, and efficient food processor, THIS IS IT! It's fully functional with beautiful results, is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and a well thought out product. Great for a household of two and even more fantastic when entertaining! You won't be disappointed!! Absolutely amazing!! Breville, have I told you lately that I love you? :) ... show more
