I have been using the Series 7 trimmer from Braun and liked the lock button that the Series 9 offers. I did find myself accidentally changing the depth setting while trimming my beard. Figured the Series 9 would be an overall step up and pulled the trigger. Build quality feels more solid, I do like the trimmer guards better but overall, outside the locking button I am not sure the Series 9 Pro offers much more than the Series 7. It does have two speed settings but how often do you need that? Battery life is better, but my Series 7 can last about a month before needing a charge. With a beard trimmer, it's not like you are using it every day. It's a good trimmer but if you have a Series 7, I'm just not sure it's worth the upgrade. The set-up I purchased didn't come with a charging stand (not really a deal breaker) or a foil shaver. I could care less about the Gillette Razor and luckily all my Series 7 attachments fit the Series 9. I can't say this purchase was a bust and having only used it a few times, this is really a first impressions review. Time will tell if this is truly an upgrade to the Series 7. It could just be a more solidly built trimmer with the same capabilities. I guess I was expecting more separation between the two series of trimmers. If you don't have a Series 7, then yes, this isn't a bad choice. I don't think you can get trimmer controls that are easier to use and with the attachments there is a good bit of versatility. I’ve owned quite a few Braun trimmers over the years and usually stick to their higher-end models, so I went into this with pretty clear expectations. I know what Braun does well, and I also know where they sometimes miss the mark for me personally. After using the Series 9 PRO All-in-One kit for a while now, I can say the performance is strong. It cuts clean, feels smooth, and doesn’t tug or snag even on thicker areas. That alone already puts it ahead of a lot of trimmers I’ve tried. The design is clean and comfortable in hand. It’s lightweight but doesn’t feel cheap. I do think the grip could have been improved slightly. It’s not bad at all, but at this price point I expected it to feel just a bit more premium and solid. Where this really stands out is the length dial. That feature alone makes it a keeper for me. It’s precise and easy to adjust, and once you find your setting, you can consistently return to it without guessing. Attachment changes are quick and straightforward, and everything feels durable when snapping on and off. Battery life has been solid so far. I haven’t had to constantly think about charging it, which is a big plus. The motor feels steady and strong, even when working through denser spots. The ProDetail trimmer works great for shaping and mustache cleanup. It gives clean lines without needing to go over the same area multiple times. One thing I would really love to see in future versions is a move to universal USB-C charging. At this price point, that would truly make it feel like a modern all-in-one solution instead of relying on a proprietary charger. My only minor issue was the packaging. The outer box arrived a little rough. The unit itself works perfectly, so it wasn’t a dealbreaker. If you’re deciding between this and a cheaper trimmer, the dial precision and consistent cutting are really what you’re paying for. Overall, this is a dependable and versatile grooming kit. It performs well, feels comfortable, and makes maintenance simple. Not the most luxury-feeling Braun product I’ve owned, but definitely one I’ll keep using. I've grown a beard for the first time in my life. I already had this trimmer for my sideburns: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008KEJ1LM?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_5&th=1 I wanted something better if I was going all in on a beard. The Panasonic is far superior to the braun at trimming my beard with an 8mm setting. I believe the issue is the comb on the guard. The gap between the Braun's comb's teeth is too narrow. All they do is push the hair out of way and nothing gets trimmed with an 8mm setting. The Panasonic, on the other hand, can trim at 8mm. I use it instead. If you have a longer beard, then this trimmer is fantastic. The longer guard (10.5 mm - 20 mm) works great. I can't give this less than 3 stars because it's a quality trimmer, and maybe it's just my beard that has problems with it. ... show more
