I ordered this tool and minutes later, I saw another listing for the same tool for 63% the cost of this one. Thinking of a friend, I purchased that second tool, which arrived sooner than this one. This tool came in a plain cardboard box, not in its own plastic box. This tool has two main problems: - The magnets protrude from the bases of the tool, and they do so more than in the cheaper tool. - The printing on this tool is wrong. As you can see, there is no booster side indication on the tool. Besides, the quality of the printing is not good. On the plus side, the thumb screw is beefier. These defects do not mean that you cannot use it, but it proves that you not always get what you paid for. You still can use the tool, it is very easy to use, it will fit most vehicles, even with defects still functions. So... it is more expensive, has the same problems as the cheaper tool, but magnified, and it is printed incorrectly. Knowing that this tool is 71% more expensive than a better one, I cannot recommend it.

I only wish I had this tool twenty years ago! Building rods or upgrading to make your later model brake booster fit your early style brake master cylinder ram used to be a tedious process. And if you ignore this critical measurement, your brake system performance will be substandard and/or deadly. Don't risk it. Either get a helper and do it right, or if you are working by yourself, get this tool. You can very quickly discern correct pedal stroke dimensions with zero guesswork. The tool uses strong neodymium magnets to hold itself onto the firewall, which is generally not a problem...BUT if your rod features a custom aluminum firewall (as some do) you're going to have to provide a little extra help for the magnets via a shim plate or other ferrous something for the magnets to grab. Just keep that in mind, and make sure to deduct the thickness of that magnetic plate from your final measurement! Nice little tool. Well built, simple to understand and operate and small enough to tuck away in that drawer full of all those specialty tools that you have. Five stars - no cons

There’s also a humorous aspect to the design: the tool is labeled "MASTER CY L I NDER," with arrows indicating each end. It seems the English translation didn’t quite hit the mark, which adds a lighthearted touch to the overall experience. To be honest - I already own another version of this tool, but I ordered this version as it smartly has magnets installed at both ends of this tool. These magnets help steady the tool flat in order to get a good depth measurement. (my other adjustment tool does not have this nice feature). You will see the adjustment rod is actually longer that the tool itself. This is because you want to add that extra air gap between the rod and the brake booster. It bis NOT a design defect - it is supposed to be this way. It IS funny to see this tool labeled "MASTER CY L I NDER" with arrows pointing at each end. I guess the English translation wasn't quite correct. LOL

This tool worked well for the price. The adjustable pin design made it easy to measure and set the pushrod depth accurately, which helped avoid issues with brake pedal travel and improper booster engagement. The tool feels sturdy, and doesn’t feel flimsy or cheap. It’s compact, easy to use, and compatible with most brake boosters, making it a handy addition to my toolbox. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the adjustment knob could be a little smoother. Overall, this is an affordable and useful tool that does exactly what it’s designed to do.
