I own a 2019 Grand Cherokee Limited. Regarding the cross bar: Overall, I am pleased. I do have two minor criticisms / suggestions. 1. Each end is fastened with two bolts. One, long bolt and a second, shorter bolt. That longer bolts is not centered properly and it rubs on the inside of the vehicle's stainless steel track / channel. This longer bolt is also a wee-bit too long and, as a result, it touches the floor / bottom of the track / channel. This is a minor problem, but it causes the foot bracket to walk as you tighten this longer bolt. I resolved most of this issue by installing two stainless steel lock washers between the head of the longer bolts and the flat washer that comes with the kit. This prevents this longer bolt from bottoming out and touching the floor of the track / channel. BTW, I also used blue thread locker on all the bolts. 2. The vinyl insert that installs in each cross bar could be another 3/8" to 1/2" longer. As supplied, it barely reaches the cross bar end caps and, therefore, has a tendency to move -- exposing the inside of the cross-bar to rain and debris. If this insert were longer, it would reach the ends of each cross bar and extend under the cross bar end caps. This would prevent left-to-right movement and better keep rain and debris from entering the cross bars. I resolved this problem, a bit, by using a couple of dabs of glue ( E-60000 ) to keep the insert centered. Thanks and good luck, JAG ... show more

This was a replacement for an Amazon rack that lost one of the crossbars. Interestingly, I used "past orders" to reorder it and this better product was delivered. I thought the old crossbar just came off on the Interstate, but since the new one has keyed locks (2 per crossbar) I guess they are a hot item. Even if the perps stole just one of the two. They are pretty simple to install. The width is adjustable. Here is a hint. Loosen the two adjusting screws on each end and then adjust the length by doing a trial fit. Mark where the bracket is on the crossbar with some masking tape. Now, even if it moves when you remove it you know the correct length. Here is the missing step. After unlocking and removing the covers, and loosening the hold down bolt, and installing the crossbars in position, TIGHTEN THE HOLD DOWN BOLT. The instructions never tell you to do that. Overall this rack if fine for my purpose with some considerations. Installation was mostly OK but tightening the screws on the bottom was rather fidgety trying to insert the wrench blindly into the screws. Of course it's not something you have to do often so as a one-off installation it's acceptable. My kayak weighs about 60 pounds and is mounted in an angular kayak mount which when mounted (see photo) rides on the right half of the racks so that there is also weight distributed on the center of these racks. Even with only 60 pound load I noticed that the rack bars flex somewhat which I don't think is seriously problematic, however, I was surprised to see them flex with 60 pounds weight. The flexing does add to the stress of back & forth motion caused by the racks deflection I would think. I've only driven relatively short distances with my kayak and thus far there have been no issues. The rack mounts have remained secure after several trips which is good. Because I have nothing to compare these racks against others (I've never owned others) I must cautiously but accurately make judgements based only on my first experience which is that the racks so far have served their purpose. ... show more

I installed this and didn't use it much until I was in a need for an 8ft 10X10 pine log. The roof rack held up well......even though I don't recommend doing what I did. Note: when it was loaded, it was lowered slowly on the roof rack. I didn't go over bumps fast and I didn't haul it far.
