  • BougeRV 23qt review at 10 months
Size: 23 Quart with Cover Color: Grey
It has been close to a year since I purchased this Fridge, and I want to leave my honest review. I’ve been using the BougeRV 23qt since July 2024 for my Jeep Gladiator, and I can confidently say it has exceeded all expectations. I currently have a 50qt ARB fridge that I use on my off-road teardrop trailer. Comparing to this one to the ARB which is much more expensive, this compact fridge performs extremely well above its weight in performance, reliability, and value. **Cooling Performance:** This fridge cools down *fast*—within 15 to 20 minutes, it's already well below refrigeration temps. It consistently maintains temperature even in hotter climates and inside a warm car, which is more than I can say living in AZ, especially during the brutal summer months. I set the average temperature at 25 degrees and have no problems keeping it at that level daily. I have set the temperature at -5 degrees on a few occasions, and it has had no issues at all. **Efficiency:** What really surprised me is how energy-efficient it is. It draws very little power, making it perfect for my overlanding setup and road trips. I've run it for days off a small power station without worry. When the Jeep is not on the go, I have it plugged into my Jackery 500, setting the fridge at 25 degrees and using it constantly for a 6-8 hour period. It only consumed about 40% of the battery life. **Build Quality:** The unit is solidly built and better than I expected. The handle could be made deeper and I can see someone with much larger fingers having difficulty with it when lifting the fridge. The digital controls are intuitive and easy to use, and the LED display is clear even in bright light. It doesn't feel cheap at all—despite being significantly more affordable than top-tier brands. **Noise Level:** Very quiet. You’ll barely hear it running, which is a big plus if you’re sleeping in your vehicle or nearby. **Portability:** At 23 quarts, it's the perfect size for solo travel or weekend getaways. It holds more than you think, and the compact design means it fits easily in the backseat or trunk. **Final Thoughts:** The BougeRV 23Qt car fridge has worked tremendously well for my needs. It’s rare to find a product at this price point that can genuinely outperform some of the more expensive competition. Whether you're new to car camping or just looking for a reliable backup, this fridge is a smart buy and I highly recommend it. **The only areas of improvement that I can see are a drain when cleaning/washing, like my ARB fridge, and deeper handles that allow a better grip. ... show more

  • Effective and efficient
Size: 30 Quart with Cover Color: Grey
The cooler is misnamed. It’s way better than a cooler. I have a 2600 watt LiFePo4 battery. It ran the cooler constantly for 3 days at a festival. Approximately 48 hours run time at 34F with highs in the mid 90s. It was also opened frequently and liquids were refreshed as used. The cooler didn’t run overnight in the van either, yet the food stayed cold. It’s very quiet, also. No ice was used other than the morning transfer from the hotel fridge to the cooler. ... show more

  • Buy it!
Size: 23 Quart Color: Grey
Wow. Awesome product. Purchased because we were traveling and have a baby on breast milk so ice and cooler just wasn’t right for us. Temperature is very accurate, I bought a wireless thermometer to make sure. Not worrying about ice was huge! Worked better than every single hotel fridge we visited. Lightweight and quality made. Moving from car to hotel was a breeze. We even used a battery jumper that powered it for over 2 hrs at time. Insulation is great as it holds temp for hours unplugged and unopened. Even if you don’t need one just buy it, it’s that good. Even has a 2 year warranty. ... show more

  • 5 stars but 1 flaw.
Size: 23 Quart Color: Grey
5 stars but 1 flaw: After over a month of testing in various situations including in a hot car, while driving, on the porch, and inside, I came to the conclusion that I can solidly recommend this to people. Bad things first. The insulation is thin. Its a fridge, not a cooler designed to hold ice for 5 days. It isn't gonna keep stuff cold when powered off for 12 hours. In an on/off setup such as driving a ways then going into a store it was still cool enough when I came out to know my perishables were not going to perish. Start the day with it filled with frozen water bottles or ice blocks and remove them as you need more room. Worked great. Pair it with a small power station (ecoflow river ran great) and it will run for hours on that and hold temp well. A 3 hour road trip with hours in the middle of shopping and it was perfect to bring back some rare deserts and fresh meats. The big flaw took weeks to pinpoint and lots of testing. If you place a non-cooled item, such as a room temp bottle of water/soda/etc, in the front right corner of the container in a few minutes it will incorrectly register a warmer temp and turn on. This leads to a problem that if you are using it as a fridge it will plunge the inside well below freezing until that item is cooled off. If you already have cold stuff inside at a temp of 34F and the fridge is trying with all its might to cool off something that is 60F, your already cold stuff will risk freezing. Fresh fruit and veggies might be ruined. Add warm soda to a bunch of cold soda, and the cold ones might freeze and burst. Additionally this uses extra power. If anyone is having a 'higher than normal' temp reading this is likely the problem. The temp sensor is somewhere in that front wall. Having it in direct sun will have a similar result. (attached photos: the thermometer in the photo has 2 numbers, the small one is the temp) Which gets us to the good stuff. Power: At max running I've measured this to a peak draw of 65 watts, and running of less than 50. In a climate controlled area it took a few days to use 1KW of power with a 1qt block of water inside as a thermal mass. Cycle time seems good (except the issue listed above), and it is really quiet to the point it blends into the background noise. My only regret is I didn't buy the bigger one. ... show more

  • Nice fridge freezer for small RV
Size: 30 Quart Color: Grey
While I ended up returning this in favor of another one of their models that was just a bit more expensive but had a couple of extra features that I wanted, that this model did not have. That said, this model is nicer looking than the one I am keeping from this company. So based on the performance of the one I kept, I have to say that it works well. Mine brought the temperature down to below freezing within a half hour on eco mode from about 68 degrees F. These refrigerator coolers are constructed well. Has about 1 cu.ft. of space for food. These models draw very little power and one EcoFlo Delta 2 or similar will run this over night with battery capacity to spare. That’s about 45 watts so a 1200 watt hour power station will run this for quite a while. ... show more
