I wanted to love this but its so unreliable. I found I cant use it and expect that the message actually gets recieved. My 8yo goes to a drop off class for 3 hours so I sent this with him on his backpack. That way if I was running late to pick him up or if his Dad was coming, I could let him know. Half the time we never get the messages delivered. It needs a strong signal and when it doesnt have a signal it doesnt check often to resend the message. So it could be days before something comes threw or never. Sometimes the lights just spin for hours like its searching for a signal and you cant get it to reset or stop until it runs out of batteries. To be fair I do have bad reception in my house by my phone will work, just slowly if Im trying to surf the web. So the fact that this Bot usually doesnt work at all says it needs a very strong signal or its useless. Their is also several minutes delay when it is working, so its not a walkie talkie. It doesnt update quickly so your stuck not knowing if a message was sent or if it jus thasnt updated yet which is very frustrating.

I absolutely love this product! This is by far my longest review. My son is too young for a phone (he thinks otherwise) and this device is the perfect alternative. It gives me peace of mind as he’s just started taking the bus to and from school. The location tracking is reliable (sometimes the bus tracking is less reliable), and I can quickly check where he is at any time. I also love that there is no screen! We had gotten him a watch and it was too much of a distraction for him. The messaging feature for us is a hit. I can notify him of any changes in plans, and he can message me when he forgets something or needs permission for something. It’s simple enough for him to use independently, which I really appreciate. We have also used it at larger events like fairs or concerts and it feels nice knowing he can contact us if he happens to get separated, I see that it has built his confidence in exploring as he feels a sense of security knowing he has a way to check in.

Update: I am revising my original review to reflect the excellent customer service I have received. A representative from the company reached out to me directly and offered a full refund for the product. I truly appreciate their quick response and proactive effort to resolve the situation and make things right. In their response, they also offered a free replacement device if I ever want to reactivate the service in the future. They explained that they don't have a pause feature due to system design and cost, but they do offer a cheaper, GPS-only plan as a downgrade option. This information is key, and it's something that should be made much more prominent to customers at the time of purchase or during cancellation option. It's a shame this wasn't clear from the beginning, as it would have prevented the initial frustration. While I am grateful for the refund and the offer of a new device, the core issue of transparency with their subscription policy remains. The company's customer service has been great, but they should be more upfront about these policies and alternative plans to help customers make an informed decision from the start. I am thankful for the resolution and hope they will consider a more options and transparent approach moving forward. I want to warn other parents who might be considering this for seasonal use, like I was. I bought this device last May for my daughter to use at summer camp. For that purpose, the GPS and talk features worked as advertised. The problem started when I no longer needed the service. When I tried to cancel the subscription to save costs during the school year, I was shocked to find this policy buried in their terms: "Once canceled, the BoT device cannot be reused. If you wish to use the canceled BoT device again, a service fee equivalent to the price of a new device is required." This is unacceptable. It means you don't truly own the hardware you paid for. The moment you stop paying their monthly fee, the device is effectively destroyed. There is no option to pause service or even downgrade to a cheaper plan. They force you to either keep paying indefinitely or buy the product all over again next summer. This is a wasteful and predatory business practice. I am now left with a perfectly functional piece of electronics that the company is rendering useless. Please save your money and invest in a product from a company that respects its customers.

Got this for my 8-year-old because he loves running around the neighborhood with his friends, and I wanted a way to keep track of him without giving him a phone. The BotTalk has been perfect. It lets me see where he is and send quick voice messages, and he can reply without dealing with a screen or getting distracted. The GPS has been accurate, the battery lasts well, and the whole thing is really simple to use. If you want something that gives your kid freedom without jumping straight to a phone, this is such a good option.

UPDATE: Had this product a month. It seemed that this product stopped charging because the lights stopped indicating that it was charging. It will show a red light when I first plug it in and then it will go dark. I thought maybe the plug came loose so I tried replugging it and the same thing happened. Red light came on, then after a few minutes, the whole thing goes dark. But the next day, my daughter took it to school and I got an indication that it was working! So, I guess it did charge after all! The GPS is a little spotty. It takes a few minutes for it to load each spot, so there is some lag time. I was thinking that the location would also improve over time, but it hasn't yet, so the route can seem a bit all over the place.
