I’ve been using this GPS tracker for about three weeks with my first-grade son, and so far it has been working very well. What I really like is that the app not only shows me where my child is, but also how long he has stayed at a particular location. The tracking works a little differently from Apple’s Find My app. It doesn’t constantly show the location in real time. When my child is moving, the device updates his location about every 2 minutes. If he stays in the same place, such as his classroom, it doesn’t keep unnecessarily updating the location. I actually like this because I can easily see how long he has been at one location. I’m using only the GPS service and not the talk/communication feature. With my usage, I only need to charge the device about once a week, which is very convenient. Overall, I’m very happy with it, especially for keeping track of my young child. After using it for three weeks, I do have a few suggestions that could make the next generation even better: A smaller device would be great so it could fit more comfortably in a young child’s pocket. Occasionally, I get an error message in Japanese. It would be much better if all messages could be displayed in English. The BoT app does not appear to be designed specifically for iPad. A dedicated iPad version with a larger map would make it much easier to see and track a child’s location. Please add a Get Directions option for the child’s current location, similar to Apple’s Find My app. It would be very useful to tap the location and immediately get driving or walking directions. For parents who mainly want to know where their child is, when they move to another location, and how long they have been somewhere, this device does the job very well.     • Dangerous and Disappointing
I wanted a screenless device that allowed us to communicate with our 7 year old. It was easy to setup and worked flawlessly in our house. It worked when I left the house and the bot talk was at home. However, everytime we have used this in the real world, at Nana's house, school etc. it has failed. We live in a major city, so not sure what the issue is, but the network is terrible. One of the big issues is, if your kid tries to sends you a message and it fails, you'll never know. The bot talk blinks a certain way when sending messages and even when it says it has sent a message, it can still fail. And when yiu send messages from your phone, you can tell when they play the messages but you cant tell if they have received the message. The GPS seems to work well enough and it's the cheapest screenless way to have GPS for your kid. I have reset the device mutiple times to no avail. I reached out to support but received canned responses about using the device near a window. Overall I'm disappointed in this device and would not recommend as a communication device. It gives you a false sense of security, which I feel is actually more dangerous than having nothing at all. ... show more

    • Worth it!
I was hesitant to purchase this due to mixed reviews, so I thought I’d give my input. I absolutely love this thing. My kids used this when they were at a friends, and at a water park and I wasn’t with them. It updates the GPS location about every minute or so, it is not like Apple where it shows the live update and movement. One thing I found unique is it will show everywhere they went that day, so you can see the route they took and everything. You also can set up to be notified if they go out of a certain area. Even though it might not show you a live update like Apple share location, I still feel it does a very good job at showing an accurate location for this not being a phone. I think depending on your cell phone carrier, and if service is bad this will obviously not be the best. Where cell phone service was sketchy, it did take an entire day for some messages to come through, however I was still able to send messages and receive them. It might take some getting used to for your little to hold down the button and send a message. I truly don’t have any complaints. It’s an easy set up, you download an app and go from there. The only thing that might be an issue is your message will be played out loud, and there is no privacy for what you say- so just keep that in mind. The only other issue some might have is the notification sound isn’t loud, but it is noticeable. So, if your kids don’t hear the notification they will just have to check to see if you sent anything. ... show more

    • Disappointment, unreliability.
So disappointed, I thought it would be a great communication device for the kids. When they were at school but they don't hold their charge very long. A lot of The Times the information or the message does not come across. Even when I test even at home, it won't go to either my device or it won't go to the kids device. Would have rated it 5 stars but the talk portion lags. Takes about a minute for the receiving end to get it. Not really toddler friendly - they need to press on the center to get messages if you send it in silent mode, and they need to press on the center until it turns red for them to record and send.     • Talk isn’t working. Light keeps flickering
Talk never works. Light keeps flickering. Tried talking to customer service did what they asked and it’s still constantly flashing. Then it plays all the voice messages back to back even though they are old and have been heard a ton of times. GPS seems good enough

We absolutely love our Bot Talk! Emma is 5 years old and in kindergarten, and it has been such a great way for us to stay connected. She has had absolutely no problem figuring out how to send me messages—it’s literally one button and so easy for her to use! We’ve had zero issues with it so far, and honestly, I truly cannot say enough good things about this product. It gives me peace of mind knowing she can easily reach me, while still being simple enough for a 5-year-old to use independently. I genuinely don’t understand why the reviews are only in the 3-star range because our experience has been nothing but positive.     • Neat device, deceptive company practices
Neat little device, but the "cancel anytime" marketing is very deceptive... Yes, you can cancel, but it makes your device unusable forever. You cannot pause your service. So once you activate it, you're stuck paying for it forever, or it becomes a paper weight. Feel like I got duped.
