  • For 30 Bucks, Hell yes!
I replaced a Polk Audio 8" driver in a Home Theater enclosure that was clipping at 50% Power from the 50 Watt RMS Amp (100 Peak). I dropped this in and turned the volume to 100% no more clipping, 4x the BASS and I have heard there is a BREAK IN PERIOD for these before they really sound good. I am hammering it now with Trance and Club music. I am IMPRESSED for how little I paid for this. It makes the Polk 8" that was in the enclosure look like Clown Shoes. Seriously and unexpected gem for your money. I was going to drop in an Infinty Kappa but I'm so impressed by this cheap little sub that I don't need it (I have one in another sub in another room and while it hits harder it's close enough and I'm happy). 2 of these in a box in your trunk would be impressive, especially for the price. ... show more

  • Gave my Workshop Sound System some Thump
I had a spare Android head unit and some spare door speakers so I bought a 4CH amp and a 12 volt power supply to drive the system and built it for my garage/workshop. It was missing bass so I originally bought an under-seat sub/amp combo but it had no real power and was disappointed with the results. I wasn’t looking for an extreme bass experience, I just wanted to hear the lows in the music. I returned the under-seat unit and decided to make my own enclosure with scrap 3/4” OSB and add a monoblock amp. I chose the Boss for the 8” sub (and monoblock amp) as I wasn’t trying to go high end as it is my workshop. I allowed the sub to break in for 3 1/2 hours as recommended before turning up the power. I can honestly say it nicely fills in the missing bass (even with low volume) for my 2 car garage/workshop! The sound is like 4x better than the under-seat sub! ... show more

  • Good for the price, no way it’s actually 600 watts peak though.
The media could not be loaded. Good budget subwoofer, I hooked it up to a stereo just to test it as a joke and it was probably only getting 50 watts and it was bumping pretty decent (it was using the voice coils as well as mid range and bass). It wasn’t screwed into the box yet but it could definitely do a lot more when I get an amp for it and actually use it as a subwoofer and not a speaker (ignore the music choice, it’s just the radio station) ... show more

  • Doing its job as a stock replacement; definitely needed something.
I bought this unit (8", 600Watt max variant) to replace the stock JBL subwoofer unit in my second generation Toyota Avalon (2000-2004 model years). The foam on the surround side is shockingly thick, and caused issues with mounting, but I brute forced the bracket together and managed to screw it down instead of slicing the foam down to fit. The wiring was easy enough, I didn't bother with crimpons or solder, I twisted the wires on and used heatshrink where needed. I installedeverything back in the car, played some music, and for the first time since I have owned the car, the low end wasn't broken. Now as for the stock unit? it's going back in the box that the BOSS unit came in, and it's going to stay there until I either throw it away, or the BOSS unit breaks and I have to return it. Hopefully the stock mounting bracket doesn't break, and cause me to have to rig an alternative mounting solution; that plastic is very flexed, I'm surprised it didn't just break outright. The stock unit is the classic cheap paper cone, and it has a twin-hump style foam surround. Actually, it HAD a twin-hump style foam surround. All that was left of it when I finally got to it and replaced it, was a small length of the inner surround hump. If the speaker ran with nothing wedged between the spider and cone, all I would hear in the low end of my music, was a collection of ear destroying clonking caused by the combination of the speaker overextending and the coil not being supported properly. Overall, if your car has as degraded of a stock audio unit as my car had, then the twenty dollars is more than worth it. If the speaker is actually better than the original unit was before it degraded (which I don't know; I never heard it pre-degradation) that's just a bonus. ... show more

  • It’s a cheap sub
Small size for under seat box I’m building. Use the right amount of power, dont go crazy. Performs well , looks nice. Not too heavy.

  • Would not recommend if you are pushing more than 150w rms
they are decent for the price they sound good at Low power but they definitely can not handle the 600w max or even 300rms it is in a bad pass box with 2 inch compression chamber I have a 1000w bridged amp I used it with one channel so 500w not even turned half way up the bass is not there but with my little 100w amp it sounds good when turned all the way up it probably gives it 150-175 watts at that wattage the quality goes down. ... show more

  • Not worth the time
