  • Outstanding for price point
Size: 7 Inch
This is an outstanding head unit for the price point. The form factor, features, and build quality are very good. It’s also a ‘real’ head unit in the sense that it’s not just an android tablet stuck to the dash where you have to navigate an android home screen and apps to do things. The floating display is a lot better than I expected for the price and looks good. It is capacitive touch as well. The real volume knob is a welcome upgrade from the typical units with buttons for volume. The buttons next to the knob however can get inadvertently tapped sometimes if you drag your fingers across them by choking up too much on the knob. That’s easily avoided once you see how it can happen. The single din form factor was what led me to this unit in the first place since I’m limited to single din with a very tight bezel on my 1996 f-350. The floating display clears the bezel perfectly and can be angled perfectly to the driver. The only thing to consider is that due to the weight and floating display this single din will have to be supported in the rear. The factory rear support for mine was gone so I had to make one for my truck. I wouldn’t personally rely on just the sleeve for mounting. I wouldn’t hesitate to install one of these even in a double din slot after using it though. The input and output options are very full featured. I liked that in addition to front and rear camera inputs there are also 500ma power outputs to connect for the cameras so you don’t have to scavenge power from somewhere else. Many of the inputs are pigtailed as well so you have more flexibility on placement and the ability to seal plugs like RCAs together with tape or heat shrink so they don’t come loose. I’m not that picky on audio but everything sounds fine to me. There are also a lot of good UI/config options such as the ability to disable the license agreement from popping up every time after the first view, etc. The only real issue I’ve run into is that sometimes upon restarting the vehicle after having listened to BT audio or CarPlay it starts up with the volume muted or at 0. Easy to deal with once you realize what’s going on. I don’t see any firmware updates so I’m not sure if Boss provides any. ... show more

  • 10” in 2003 Jeep TJ
Size: 10 Inch
Have had installed for 2 months. Great to see my off road map apps without squinting at my phone. Sound is pretty decent. Make sure you use a good Apple certified cable for CarPlay to work. Went through 4 cables to figure that one out. Works fine now.

  • Easy Peasy Install, Sounds and Looks Great!
Size: 9 Inch
I haven’t installed a car stereo in decades. Maybe a quarter century, even! Ended up being pretty simple. The 2009 Tahoe had an aftermarket stereo installed about 11 years ago. At the time, it was an Alpine 1U unit and the whole thing installed was $700+. Over time, the unit remained fine but technology had moved on. I really wanted to be able to connect my phone via BT and stream music. The Alpine, having no Bluetooth, meant an after-aftermarket Bluetooth dongle jacked into the Alpine’s rear-panel USB port. Sadly, the setup never worked exceedingly well, forcing me to hard-reboot the Alpine regularly to get BT running. What a pain. Time to stop with the hard reboots! 😹 I check out things online, want a screen, but not take up more than the 1U space reserved. This unit fit the bill just fine - ordered it with the 9” display. The original aftermarket receiver install used some PAC modules to interface the receiver with the steering wheel controls and other truck features. Hoped that changing the receiver wasn’t going to also force me to buy all new interface modules. The hardest thing was identifying the existing wire colors, making sure that this unit had the same setup, and then cutting out the old aftermarket harness and splicing in the new radio’s harness. Took maybe 45 min. Adjusted the PAC SWC-1 for Boss, and bam! it all worked fine. Great sound quality, excellent price, and a huge display. Definitely would recommend!!! ... show more

  • Fidelity is not what I expected. Touch screen works great.
Size: 10 Inch
I like the fact that the screen moves up and down and side to side. The screen is pretty vivid. I’m not crazy about the EQ but it does sound pretty good depending on the song playing through the Bluetooth. Apple car play doesn’t sound great, but I think that is with all wired apple CarPlay. All in all, a pretty good buy. Unfortunately the rear RCA channel isn’t working but I just noticed that my return window closed 4 days ago. It took me to long to get to the installation or I would have returned it for that reason. The radio is an overall good buy, my ears had to get used to the difference in fidelity from the old Sony that I replaced it with. ... show more

  • Works great and sounds great!
Size: 9 Inch
I installed this in my 2004 Corvette to replace the 1990 era radio that was from the factory. The unit is very nice. The head unit goes in the dash, and the display snaps into it. Android auto was my main reason for getting this and it works great. I also wanted a physical volume dial as my car does not have steering wheel controls and I did not want to have to fuss with finding the volume on the screen while driving. I can just reach for the dial instead. I was worried it might interfere with my gear shift, but the adjustability made it easy to position correctly. Sound quality has been great so far. Between the equalizer and balance/fade controls, I am able to get great sound in my car. I used a NATIKA backup camera and it connected with no issues. Some people complain that it is too bright, especially at night, and it is. I found the work around was to set it to Dark mode always. I do find it is very hard to see the display with my polarized sunglasses. Over all, it is a great addition to my car! ... show more

  • Low price Carplay but it's not worth what you'll give up
Size: 7 Inch
The three positives are Carplay, single din design and a low price. That's where the fun ends. I was replacing a 12 year old JVC mid range unit because I wanted the lower distraction of Carplay. Carplay in a single DIN is a fabulous idea! Looking at you JVC. Sound quality went from pretty good to flat and lifeless. Volume was, it seemed, 25% less. There's two USB outlets, only one will do Carplay. Talk about confusing. Unless you're using this in a work truck or a golf cart, stay away. ... show more
