I previously had a generic Chinese CarPlay head unit and it quite literally blew up my wire harness after working fine for a week. Because of this, I will never buy one of the knock off ones again, especially considering how cheap and good this unit is. It sounds great, it’s simple, and it does what it’s supposed to do - function properly with Apple CarPlay. That’s all I want my head unit to do. One gripe that I have is that the external microphone might not work. I have yet to call Boss to troubleshoot this, but it does not seem to be working. [UPDATE] I got this mic working. Nice budget unit. AppleCarplay works flawlessly so far. Good sound, easy install. As other have mentioned, no way to change button color, not a deal breaker. Camera resolution isn't the best.

The head unit works great, smooth function, clean sound, gets pretty dang loud. One note, sometimes when I plug my phone in the screen goes black, but all I have to do is hit home and then CarPlay, and it’s good so not a biggie. Be careful wiring the camera, I accidentally fried mine by arcing it off a constant for a second. But I got a cheap replacement and it has no problem working off that one. ... show more

Two things I don’t like, but I can get over them: it’s advertised as having the capability of changing the illumination colors for the buttons. But we have not been able to find how to do that. There’s no option for it in the settings and the instructions don’t mention that feature. I’d like the buttons to be orange to match the rest of my dash’s buttons. Also, the car play function doesn’t work with my aux cable. A cable is provided but it comes out of the BACK of the unit so I’d have to take the dash apart again and rig some way to use it. Otherwise, it sounds great, looks great, buttons are responsive, interface is user friendly. ... show more

Installed this in my dads Silverado. Install was easy. Once installed, the unit works and sounds great. Touch screen is responsive and bright, it has an actual volume knob. Included backup camera works very well, triggers when in reverse or when I activate it via the touch screen. Has connections for a front camera if needed. A few notes. The Rear USB port is what your phone needs to be plugged into for carplay. I purchased a USB extension cable and mounted a port in the dash. The cable for the backup camera is not long enough for an extended cab pickup, I purchased a backup camera extension cable, and additional power wire to hook it all up. Touch screen is responsive, but seems primitive compared to a smartphone. Still, very good quality! Install took a bit more than anticipated simply because my Jeep has a built in amplifier and I didn’t realize I needed an additional interface for this unit to control it. Would still recommend!
