I purchased this tool to replace the one I bought 7 years ago, I used/abused it every day 5-6 days a week, dropped it on tile/concrete. Never let me down in the middle of a job. The new one looks gorgeous but with the gearcase set on 2 it sounds like misaligned gears will come flying out of it any second and it puts up quite a spark show, change the gear setting to 1 and it runs like butter, no sparks. I will keep it and use it on the 1 setting and hope for the best. Now you know why they say beauty is only skin deep. Update: I tried today to drill a hole with my new drill in high speed and the noise I wrote about turned out to be a partially engaged/stripped gearbox, so no drilling. Bosch did make contact with me yesterday and offered to help. I chose at this time to accept a replacement drill and I hope this was just a fluke. Once I receive replacement drill and use to my satisfaction I will update this review, my original drill that I used for 7 years I would rate 12 stars so I will give Bosch this opportunity, is only fair. Update: Received replacement drill yesterday and it works perfectly, sounds smooth in both gear settings. I will change review to a 4 for now and will upgrade to 5 after I do some serious work with it. My thanks to Amazon and Bosch for their quick response and no hassle replacement. ... show more

I love this tool. it replaced an original PS model that was new seven years ago. I am a professional carpenter/general contractor who does not abuse my tools but I do use them regularly and I dont baby them. The original tool was replaced only because I foolishly left it aloft the ladder and it dropped 16' to the asphalt drive below, otherwise it would still be running on its original 10.4v batteries. This newer model is actually a little stubbier which makes it great for cabinetry work. It has plenty of torque but not too much for smaller fasteners. The clutch works great. Bought this to replace an older version that quit working, tool works great for light service work, adjustable clutch is very handy, dual speed is nice as well. the built in light is not very bright at all so that's a slight problem otherwise it's a very good light weight impact driver

These small Bosch power tools are fantastic and so "handy"! They are powerful for their size. Often drills will over torque out of control at times twisting my arm but these drills are just right to manage. Have several powers and prices of charging packs and that helps. Buy an inexpensive less powerful battery first and see how well you like the tool. Then get a more powerful battery to alternate the use of. Have the small sawsall too. This is the 2nd Bosch PS21 tool I have had and I love it. The 1st one lasted 10 years! I am in maintenance and it is used almost daily. I prefer this over an impact for most jobs. It is quite and has plenty of torque. It also has very good speed control. Buy it! You will like it!
