Description

The BMW M3 Coupe and Sedan really get enthusiasts’ blood fired up by amplifying all the elements the performance-minded driver loves about BMW’s entry-level platform. Of all the cars BMW offers, this is the one they run in competition, and for good reason. But, while the car is a winner, many M3 owners have contacted Borla with considerations about the weight, sound and performance of the stock exhaust setup. • Grrrrrrrrrrrr!! Power you can hear & feel
Excellent exhaust! Absolutely happy with the sound;not too loud, not too soft. Perfect at idle and sounds beastly when accelerating. I do not do a lot of highway driving so I can't speak of drones at higher rpms, but with an epic sound system paired with my car I can enjoy any way I'd like. I also have a "Hidden Hitch", 1/4 inch trailer hitch on the back of my 08 Lancer GTS, for a bike rack, and it does all fit with room to spare. I have a K&N Cold Air intake paired with it, and together they make my car look, sound, and feel better than when I first bought it! Overall, I am more than surprised with this exhaust from Borla, even after all the research I put in before jumping in. As I've read others say, this is NOT a "ricer" exhaust, period. It is a deep growl that will turn into a roar after you step on it! If you are debating on getting this for your car, think no more it's the one you've been searching for! ... show more

  • I couldn’t be happier with the results
Review is based on my 2015 Lancer SE AWC CVT I was worried about the aforementioned drone noise on the CVT. I have this paired with a Ingen short ram intake and let me you, I couldn’t be happier with the results. Everything worked out great and I am extremely happy with the final results. I drive this in the city and highway for about a week now and everything is all good. I definitely recomend. ... show more

  • Its great but watch out for...
My review would be too long. Too many things to say so I will boil it down to a couple of sentences: Exhaust is awesome if you want your car to roar. After it heats up, it sounds awesome. It is a bit on a louder side, but it purrs instead of spilling rice everywhere. Only concern is that you will get a TON of drone. This is something you have to either live with, or figure something else out. After the car heats up, there is a ton of drone at around 2k RPM. I have kind of gotten used to it, but It does bug me sometimes.. ... show more

  • Loved the Borla rear section, perfect sound from a 4 cylinder engine in my opinion.
I did a TON of research in the hunt for the right rear section exhaust for me. I waited until I found one used and sure enough one popped up like new here on Amazon for under $350 which I jumped on immediately. I don't mind the noise level this provided as I personally love to hear a good sounding exhaust and this is exactly what the Borla 11782 provided for me on my 2011 2.4L Lancer GTS. I was very happy with the note it gave coming from a 4 cylinder engine it has a good growl that is aggressive but not too wild and crazy. Perfect bolt-up piece to replace the factory muffler which is a pig! Performance great as well paired with my Injen SRI. To really get the most out of a modified intake and exhaust is to add the RoadRaceMotorsports ECM piggyback module to your ECU which modifies the A/F ratio to compliment your aftermarket intake and exhaust. Only pain was removing the factory muffler (big pain) and I had to make a trip to the hardware store to find some hardware to bolt it to the mid piping. Come on Borla, for the price we pay for your exhausts we can't get complete hardware. But for saving money by doing it yourself, nothing someone with decent mechanic skills can't figure out. ... show more

  • OK, but not perfect
Bought this for my 2012 Lancer SE AWD and YES!!! it will work with the new ALL WHEEL DRIVE SE MODELS! Was not listed as fitting my car, but I knew by looking at the locations of the exhaust hangers it would work. Fitment was pretty good, with the hanger rods in the right places. Like other reviewers stated, no nuts for the flange bolts are provided, that cost me about $1.50 for those. Tip is slightly off center in the bumper cutout, not very noticeable but why is it not centered? Weld quality was just ok... I am a perfectionist, and if I had welded the joints, they would look perfect, but these look like someone said " those will do ". Still fully functional and structurally sound, but the weld beads could look better, especially from a top notch company like Borla. Now onto sound. This is medium loud, which does vary greatly depending on rpm. I haven't owned many vehicles without a performance exhaust, so it doesn't bother me a bit, but some people who never had an exhaust may complain it's too loud. It really isn't. The interior tone from idle to about 2000 is sort of "farty", but it's not too bad. I would bet a little more r&d would have produced a better sound down low. Above 2500, especially under load while accelerating, it sounds just flat out awesome from inside. I have no idea exactly what it sounds like outside, but I did notice quite a bit of heads turning to check it out, as opposed to the stock exhaust which made no sound at all. My car (all SE's) has the CVT transmission which I absolutely HATE to death!!!!, so it is hard to hold a certain rpm and let it scream, because it is always trying to change ratios(again - I hate the CVT), but I was able to shift to low (which just holds the transmission in one pre-selected low "gear" ratio instead of being variable) and was able to make this thing sound awesome from light to light. It's expensive for what it is, materials probably cost less than $100 but it was the only one I could find that uses all 3 stock hanger locations(most use just 2), and therefore does mount very securely. Plus it does use 300 series stainless, which is the best you can get for an exhaust. 400 series stainless is cheaper, but does eventually corrode. 300 series will not. The "muffler" is little more than a large straight through resonator. This thing weighs next to nothing at all, shipping weight is listed at 20 pounds with the box, but the exhaust itself probably weight 10-15 pounds. Very light compared to the stock muffler which weighs in at 25 pounds on my bathroom scale. I will definitely be keeping this on for a while. ... show more

  • Excellent Exhaust
I picked this up a few months ago and I am not disappointed! The sound is excellent. At idle and cruising at a constant speed, the sound is just above stock. However, when I take off or am accelerating through the gears, the sound can get a bit loud, but to me, never annoying. Here's a clip right after I installed. Yes, this is me and my car:[...] The tone isn't as harsh, having settled down a bit. Great Price, great exhaust. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Good product but missing hard wear.
I really like. it's not as loud as I had hoped but no biggie still sounds good has a deep rumble and does not sound like a pissed off weed eater. If your looking for something that sounds good but isn't too loud this is what you want. Cons. Instructions tell you to use old hard wear too bad the nuts are welded to the old muffler had to go to Home Depot and buy them. ... show more
