  • Love it, works with Android apps!
I absolutely love my BOOX Palma. It’s super lightweight and easy to carry around — like a mini phone-sized eReader. What makes it amazing is that it runs Android, so I can download all my favorite reading apps, including Tomato Novel! The screen is super easy on the eyes, and the performance is smooth for an e-ink device. If you’re looking for a pocket-sized reader that’s also flexible like a phone, this is perfect. ... show more

  • Battery life is great!
Love it!! Literally the same size as the flip 6, just a tad bigger, it's worth it for me, especially considering the battery life. I had the boox 5 before this one and it's one of the main reasons I got the palma, and the customization is so much better, I still haven't used the camera and I dont think i ever will but it's worth getting the palma ... show more

  • Really Good - And a Bit Disappointing
I really like this product and struggled with giving it either 4 or 5 stars - it's very good and I expect I will be using it quite a bit. Overall: If you want a small format e-reader that can work across virtually any document type or e-reader service, this is a great device. That's what it's intended for and, in that arena, it does a great job. As a bonus, you get the full Android operating system and ability to run any of those apps (though many will not work well on a monochromatic screen like this). I was hoping for a good note-taking experience, but it does not provide that. What's good: This product is, essentially, an e-reader. Like a Kindle or other black and white screen device. For that capacity, alone, it is very good. I can read my books every bit as clearly as I can on a phone, tablet or my Kindle e-reader. What makes it a bit better is that it comes with a full Android operating system so you can add any other apps you want. If you need to read on different e-readers, no problem. If you want to read work document by loading something like Word, PowerPoint, etc - also no problem. The form factor is also very nice (assuming you want a smaller e-reader). It's a bit smaller than my mobile phone, much lighter, and easier on the eye for reading. What's okay: Although this device, in my opinion, is meant more for consuming textual information than anything else, you can do more. Surfing the web, watching video content and listening to audio content are all possible. I expect that watching videos, however, is a pretty poor experience (stick with your phone or tablet for that). You could also load and play games but, again, a color display is going to be a better experience. A more realistic scenario may be just responding to emails or creating quick bits of text when needed. What's bad: The only thing I was hoping for was that it would do at least reasonably well that it doesn't really do well at all, is allow me take handwritten notes. I can download popular note-taking apps (I use OneNote) without a problem. But the screen is intended for touch input and, so far, the only stylus I've found that works with it is the rubber-tipped ones that aren't really good for taking notes. The manufacturer didn't mention note taking, thus my conundrum of 4 vs 5 stars. It seems like, however, that a slight update to this device would make it massively helpful for quickly scratching notes into it whenever / wherever you need. ... show more

  • I absolutely love this thing.
I have had this for about 2 months now. I use it every day. I also own a Kindle Scribe. I was interested in this one for a few reasons. One was the size. I wanted a smaller one that I could tuck in my purse or read easily from a hot tub or paddle board (can fit in waterproof cell phone holder). The second reason was what I'm able to do on this device vs my Kindle. I have a basic library on this, Kindle app, Libby app, Goodreads, my podcast app and YouTube music. I also added audiobooks I've purchased over the years (that I can't listen to on my Kindle because Amazon only lets me use audible app books and I've never been a fan of audible). This e-reader is wonderful! I love being able to have it read my ebook to me when I'm at a good part and have to stop reading to adult for a bit (making dinner, clean the house, etc). My Kindle can do this, but there are many clunky steps involved it's frustrating. The Boox, all I have to do is hit the headphones button when my book is open. I still use my Kindle Scribe. I love both but I didn't realize all the restrictions on my Kindle until I had an e-reader without them. I honestly wonder if my Kindle were to stop working, if I'd even bother replacing it. I added a pop socket onto the back of my Boox Palma and bought a cell phone slide in type carrier to keep it in when I'm not using it. I'm very happy with this purchase. I'm glad I was able to take the chance and buy it. It is a bit pricey. That's the only down side for me. Oh and my current background is Halsin from BG3 haha. ... show more

  • Don’t buy this.
I would not really recommend this item. It’s a decent ereader device and it runs on android so it lets you use a multitude of apps. But it’s just as slow and clunky as any other ereader. I thought this would be smoother than my kindle but it’s not. It’s very overpriced for what it is. Everyone hypes it up but after using it I’d say you’re better off buying a cheaper ereader it’ll work the same. Also be wary of buying this with affirm. I’ve had it for hardly any time at all and if I return it I’m out an undetermined amount of money but atleast 60 dollars bc of using affirm to get it I won’t just get a refund of the deposit and have the loan cancelled despite the fact that they haven’t even finalized the loan yet. This ereader is far too pricey to behave like any other ereader and not be able to refund it without being out a chunk of change. Really disappointed because I got this for myself for my birthday. Now I’m stuck with it or out money returning it which doesn’t feel fair after only having it 2 days. Don’t buy this, especially if you can’t pay for it outright. Just stick to the kindle it’s way more affordable and they work the same as this. ... show more
