This shredder comes fully assembled and ready to use out of the box. It worked through two catch bins worth of papers with no issues and no overheating. When in operation, the amount of noise it produced didn’t drown out the conversation I was having. It should be noted that after shredding anything the machine doesn’t fall silent, there’s a fan that makes a whirring sound that stays on for a bit. My heavy duty shredder just arrived and it's a BEAST!! I need it for my photo scanning business where the client would like me to recycle their photo albums and photos after they have been scanned. Paper shredding companies won't do photos or albums so I had to find another solution thus I purchased this shredder after reading the reviews. I just did a test of the shredder and it works very well and is quiet. I did have to laugh though when I read the technical specs of the unit where is says "Maximum recommended daily use rates: 130 sheets, 5 credit cards"...well, in that case my current project that has 5000+ photo album pages will only take me 38 days!! LOL! How can it be considered a "heavy duty shredder" if it only should do 130 pages per day??! Anyway...it works well so I do recommend this unit. ... show more

I'm spreading years of paperwork that's been in storage. It's done a great job so far. I do wish I had purchased some cleaning pads. Wish it came with some. Overall it's done a great job.

Heavy duty shredder. Doesn’t jam like cheaper models. The bin is great capacity so I don’t have to be continually emptying it. It’s a little more expensive than some shredders but worth every penny!

After only one day of using the Bonsaii C144-D paper shredder I am aware of the pro and cons. The pro is is does a great job of shredding up to 24 pagers at once even with paper clips and stables with out straining! Con #1 - Although it has 7.1 gallon basket. That fills up very fast... like 10-15 mins of shredding. The way the basket is designed... by the time you see the paper shreds in the bottom 1/4 of the clear window; it is time to empty the basket after only a few minutes. Con #2 - When a document is finished shredding the loud fan stays on unless you turn the entire machine off. If you shredd a few documents and wait to shredd something else you must turn the machine off or endure the noise. To take or make a phone call; I need to turn the machine off. The noise of the fan when not shredding is too much for me to endure between shredding jobs. The turning the machine off and on often and changing the basket so often makes this shredder not the right shredder for me even with the low price and being able to shredd 24 sheets with clips and staples at ease. To be fair I am a bit OCD. So if the turning it on and off and the continuous emptying the basket is not an issue for you... it is a very good price for a 24 page at a time shredder. I hardly ever return items to Amazon. This Bonsaii C144-D paper shredder may be the exception to my usual. ... show more
