We've accumulated a lot of paperwork in the last few months due to my mother's death, literal piles of paperwork we needed to have shredded piled on our dining table and our old one - just didn't cut it anymore (pun intended?). So when this came up on sale for Prime Day I asked dad if this is what he wanted and he said yes. He got to town and now we no longer have piles of paperwork on our dining table (we've had dinners there since.) He is in LOVE with this thing - hes looking for more paper to shred just because he can now going through old files to clean up. Decades old paperwork is going to be cleaned up because of this machine. LOL. Low rating on the sound because, paper shredders really can't be helped to being loud and obnoxious. But Ive heard worst.

I replaced a broken 6-year-old Amazon Basics 12-sheet shredder with this one, and here's the comparison. Pros: whole Bonsaii assembly is lighter, especially basket, which makes emptying a breeze; a bit quieter than the Amazon; did not overheat or jam in shredding 4 basketloads in one session (Amazon always had overheating issues); easier to clean after. Cons: feeding slot a little harder to feed, just barely wide enough for 8.5" paper and takes a bit more care to insert; Amazon had wheels, this doesn't so a little harder to move around. I'm not the easiest user of these, as I tend to let it pile up and then shred for half a day. Bonsaii looks to be a winner for the price.

this is a second shredder for me - I accidentally broke the one I had - it was a little bigger, a little stronger perhaps but it also was 25 years old - yes 25 years I had it -- this one is a little smaller but I opened the box on arrival and started using it immediately - worked well for being a more compact size and for home use not business, heavy use.

Item seems to work well, struggles a bit when near rated capacity. But the thing that I don’t like is it is more difficult to get the paper started vs my Amazon unit that is on its last legs. Paper feed is deeper and needs to be inserted more precisely. Small items have to be fed with larger ones to get fed in.

I liked the size of the unit but wish there was a handle on the basket so it would be easier to unload the shredded paper basket into a plastic bag. It is awkward to try to hold the basket upside down and to dump the waste into a plastic bag without spilling it on the floor.

Apr 2023 Update: 6+ months and this thing is still going strong! Just bought shredder oil sheets for the first time ever because how durable it's been! Original Review: So far this is the best shredder I've ever owned by a wide margin! Glad I spent a little bit more money on a much higher quality product (I got the 10min one too), this is the best bang for your buck! I've had a few shredders before in the ~$40 range (mostly Staples ones) that broke pretty quickly -- this one really doesn't cost that much more, comparatively. They'd only be able to do like 5 sheets (nowhere near 12) and eventually plastic bits would start falling out of the insides and it would stop working. If you put in like 4 sheets and folded one accidentally, those would jam immediately. Then the jams would be hard to clear and could damage the shredder. Or you'd run it for like a minute and it would start overheating already and start malfunctioning. So far, with this shredder, in a few weeks' time period, I already shredded more than I have in the past 5 years combined. Probably did like ~10,000 sheets of lots of old documents. That's how much of a powerhouse this shredder is compared to all the other ones I've owned previously! So it's been easily worth the money already as it has outlasted the others that would start malfunctioning at ~1,000 sheets. It's also never jammed on me! I've never tried 12 sheets on it, but it'll do 6 sheets no problem, whereas my previous shredders would start falling apart -- literally -- if you tried 6 sheets. And this thing can run for like an hour without overheating! Like I get tired out and I have to take a break well before it overheats. Whereas with previous ones, I'd spend like 2 minutes and already had to wait for it to cool down. Now the bottleneck isn't the shredder, but me! Also, because it's been so durable so far, I'm no longer afraid of shredding things here and there, worried that the shredder might suddenly break. Sometimes I shred some old documents as a therapeutic, meditative activity now -- shred your worries away xD It also holds more paper than my previous shredders before I have to clean it out. And while it is taller than I expected, that surprisingly made it more ergonomic so I didn't have to lean over as much while shredding. As some reviewers have noted, when I got it I did check the insides and did see some bits of shredded paper. That seemed sketchy, but it does say on the note that comes with it that they "test every shredder" and so that's why you might see some leftover bits. And honestly, even if it is used, it's outlasted my previous shredders by a 10x margin already, so it's good quality stuff either way. So, overall, well worth the price, best bag for my buck I've had with a shredder. Bonsaii also has a 1-year warranty (and the reviews seem to say that they've made good on that too!), which is why I originally bought it with my past shredder purchases going awry. But I guess it's as they say, if a company is confident in such a long warranty, the product probably isn't going to break quickly! Hoping to have this last for many more years :)

Does exactly what it's supposed to. The shredder is a bit noisier than my older 8 sheet version but I figure that's because of it's larger capacity. I really like the built in handle on top. My former didn't have that. And for $51.00, I thought it was a reasonable price. My old one lasted 8 years so if I get that again I'll be very happy.
