I did what I usually do when I plant seeds, I soaked for 24 hours like it said, then placed the seed into a paper towel in a ziplock bag, and placed into a dark space to “pre sprout” them. I did 2 of the flame tree seeds and about 3/4 of each of the others. 1 flame tree seed broke open so that’s the one I planted of the 2. None of the other seeds broke open, so I planted them all just for the heck of it and a week later so far I only have the one flame tree growing. I’ll give another week as it says and try it again with the other 4 tree types. A week and a half later the Black Pine sprouted as well!

I got 2 flame trees to germinate out of all the seeds and I’m an experienced plant hobbyist. The other kits I’ve gotten from other brands had every single plant seed/type grow successfully. It’s been a few months since I got this and after several failed attempts at every seed I decided a review would help others when it popped up asking me about this item. While it looks nicely packaged, maybe as a gift to someone this would be received well based on appearance but for actually growing… no.

We haven’t started the process yet and once we do it can take weeks to a month to see if the seeds sprout. I will update the review as time passes because if you plan to grow bonsai seeds it can take years! The review currently is on the materials and directions. The seeds looks to be in great condition. The small tools are cute and feel sturdy enough for a bonsai tree; don’t try and use these outdoors haha. The five bags to start the germination in are good quality and have drainage holes. The coconut husk is awesome and I didn’t expect that to be in the kit. So far so good! We start the planting process today 1/6/26!

I love that they are generous with the trees seeds, I was even able to share some seeds with friends and family who want to try growing bonsai. Nice set up and great instructions for planting and growing just now they are starting to sprout so they are growing great size of seeds so if the first don’t grow at least you can have a good chance of growing more

I bought so many of these for presents and very few of them have sprouted. I gave one to sister, who is a master gardener and she has tried everything to get them to even sprout.
