  • Quiet and Humid. What I was looking for. Should be great for my quiet-sleeper wife.
This is my initial review of the unit I received 1/27/2020. I just got the unit tonight and hooked it up. Let's just say I'm very skeptical of any type of unit that requires a replacement filter media and requires cleaning. I studied industrial technologies and quality control so I'm very critical of the items I buy and try to give as honest of a review of the items as possible, especially when the unit has low reviews and I'm taking a risk buying it. I studied humidifiers for a couple of days before ultimately going with this Boneco to try to suit our needs. I would have bought the Bluetooth model, but I couldn't find it for a justifiable price in the U.S. One of the biggest positives of this review per it's first plug-in is the noise level. My wife is a very light sleeper to certain types of noises. She can use a noisemaker so long as the sound is consistent and calm. As soon as I got the unit, I filled it and plugged it in to give it a test. She wasn't in the room when I initially turned it on and it actually made me think it was going to be too loud for her. I can sleep through about anything so the noise was plenty fine with me. I then turned it on low and knew she would be able to handle that quiet of a noise. I moved it to our room and had it on high while messing with it. She came in and said something along the lines of "wow, that sounds good" because it was just a nice fan blowing noise without anything making awkward whirring, creaking, or whatnot. If my wife can sleep with this thing on high, this should be a no-brainer on the noise for a light sleeper on low. She was also very pleased with the aesthetics of the unit, as was I. It has a very professional sleek look that blends with a room well. Most units out there are rather unpleasant to the eye, but this one looks nice. The large removeable tank should come in very handy compared to the usual small humidifiers we'd tried in the past. She needs one for her sinuses and I'd assumed what she had always bought was fine. I never read up on humidifiers until recently so now I actually know all the different types there are and the sizes required for particular area sizes. We live in a tri-level and the humidity can be quite different from one area to another. All our bedrooms are upstairs and I'm hoping this single unit will decently keep them all humidified. I like the technology behind these humidifiers, as they don't constantly require new evaporative pads like most on the market and they look to pick up more water versus the disc-type airwashers. Cleaning is shown to be very easy in the manual and it looks easy. If it turns to be difficult, I will update the review. Right now I have it in a small room barely over 175 sq/ft and it started raising the humidity from 35% immediately. So far, I'm please with the unit and I search out quality items. I will update the review if I feel the quality is not worth the money. ... show more

  • It's as easy to clean as they say it is
Size: W300
I previously had an airwasher of a different style / from a different company. Was happy with the humidity output, but even though it had fewer parts it was truly impossible to properly clean. In an effort to replace my previous airwasher, I took a chance on the W300 - primarily due to it being described as "easy to clean", with options for using the dishwasher and/or washing machine. I clean all the washable parts in the dishwasher, and it works out even better than expected. Based on some other reviews I was a little concerned about damaging the evaporator mat, so I initially washed it by hand. I now place it into the dishwasher with the other parts, and it comes out extremely clean & without any damage. I've had it running now for 4 months, all day / every day. It runs perfectly well, and after each cleaning it's returned to something like 98% as clean as new. I'm extremely happy with how easy it is to clean, and how clean it gets with essentially no effort - which was my primary concern in purchasing it. As to the rest of the features, everything works as described. It puts out an appropriate level of moisture, and holds a nice amount of water in the tank (I refill it once every 24 hours). It's very quiet on the low setting, and it has a nice appearance / isn't an eye sore. There is some intermittent "bubbling" that you can definitely hear (as water moves from the tank into the base), but it's nothing of significance - just something to be aware of if you're looking for an absolutely silent solution. I haven't decided if I need a 2nd one yet for another area of the house, but if I do, I'll be happy to buy this one again. ... show more

  • Pleased with the unit overall with one or two caveats.......
I bought this after our $400 Venta with lateral, double, white plastic disks stopped working on a regular basis. That, and the fact that it was an outright "pain project" to clean with or w/o a dishwasher. The Boneco works in an opposite reverse principle. It sucks air in over the filter media (which is a hand or machine washable thick, circular, mesh, cloth affair that fits over a very simple and well designed drum w/splines).. and picks up the humidity from said rotating drum and blows it out of the sides. It has a low and high speed. The low speed consumes 12 watts of power an hour. I had made the mistake of buying another of the same brand and model but in what looked like an open carton from an amazon competitor and was completely dissatisfied with its performance! It sounded loud and almost as if the gears operating the rotating drum were not engaging correctly! My better half is a light sleeper and since the bedroom was the primary area for its utilization (we have forced hot air heat and NYC cold and windy, DRY winters)...so, we must have a humidifier or our nasal passages get all clogged and dried up making it very difficult to breath while sleeping. Being a retired, licensed, mechanical and civil engineer, and after inspecting the unit closely, I knew this had to be a fluke because the unit was well designed and looked as if it should work very well indeed. A new unit from Amazon was bought at a black Friday discounted price and "lo and behold,"... the unit works flawlessly on both speeds (though, on high if you are a light sleeper,... you may find it slightly objectionable b/c the fan is a little loud and the unit "gurgles" somewhat as the detachable tank feeds water via a "spring loaded" feed valve ) however, on low speed it is completely un-noticeable even to my wife's "sensitive decibel meter ears" (save the aforementioned gurgling water feed noise) and gives our large bedroom w/ attached bathroom anywhere from 38 to 47 percent relative humidity (I used 2 separate calibrated hygrometers for measurement)... which is probably comfortable for most humans. After having the unit for 2 months and cleaning it once a week,... (BTW, do buy and use a humidifier bacteriostatic liquid additive--do your due diligence and you'll find several good choices right here on amz.)...I have had completely trouble free operation and very clean, fresh smelling, perfectly humidified air w/o bacteria buildup as a result. Cleaning the unit involves unplugging the fan housing from where the air is drawn in over the absorbent water filter and drum housing, cleaning same by removing the drum, unscrewing with a twist on one side and removing the filter from the drum housing; CLEAN the removable filter, the drum that holds it, and the bottom plastic water base (which is the water reservoir that the drum and filter media rotate in to pick up the water)...WITH DISHWASHING LIQUID. I highly recommend the use of one capful/per gallon of the liquid bacteriostatic during operation of your device. BTW, this stuff is quite inexpensive....put a comment on the review and I will answer your questions as to brand, etc. with details! You will find that with a sponge, warm water, and dishwashing liquid that the cleaning job is all of 10 minutes at most at a leisurely and painless pace. I then clean the filter media in a basin with dishwashing liquid and lukewarm water. I just rub one side against the other (like your washing a shirt or some other delicate laundry item) for about 3 minutes and rinse in cool water. Another reviewer complained of a "red stain" in the filter media and the difficulty removing it; my guess is that he or she has a lot of iron in their water. Nothing other than some bleach will probably resolve that issue but, I digress! THEN,...you simply put the whole affair back together and start it up again! THAT SIMPLE! Trust me, I know quality design and construction when I see it and this thing is head and shoulders above the competition, ESPECIALLY at the price I paid. At approx. $260 with Prime and free returns, DEFINITELY a no brainer if you are in the market for this type of air cleaning / humidifying device! I find that using devices with "one time use" filters, (Hepa or not) cost way too much to buy replacement filters and don't really do that much of a better "clean" of the air {also you don't get humidification} even though I do use a Winnix 5200 in late spring/summertime/early fall, when we don't need humidification. Hey folks,...I spend a small fortune in time, energy, and moola on stuff that I buy and use here on amamzon, so if this review was HELPFUL....well, you know what to do! Many thanks ! UPDATE: 3/28/21......Unit still works great but I see the greedy little piggies have raised the price quite substantially! Probably still worth the money but I just LOVE the way EVERYTHING, EVERYWHERE,...seems to be rising so dramatically in price! AND every lying financial source from Wall St. to D.C. and the FED all say, "INFATION?....There's NO inflation!" Like Hell! ... show more
