I accidentally broke the carafe on my french press yesterday evening, an old 12 oz Bodum. This replacement arrived in less than 16 hours, time enough still for some morning coffee. The carafe fits the frame perfectly, and was easier to put in than the broken one was to remove. The glass even has the same instructions printed on it as the original; you wouldn't know the press was any different from yesterday morning. It fits fairly close so all in all I'm happy. Initially I thought the thicker glass would make the carafe not fit in the unit but it slides in fine. The original was very thin glass and you just knew it would eventually break though it lasted 9 yrs. It's also taller as you can see in the photos but everything fits together. The glass carafe in my thrift-store purchased 12 oz Bodum Chambord French press cracked after years of use, so I had to look around for a replacement. The shops in my area either didn't carry this small size, or had high mark-up, so I looked online and found this one (fulfilled though Amazon by Wayfair) on sale for $14.95 with free shipping (pretty much its usual retail price). I'm not sure where some of the reviewers and question-askers are getting the prices they're complaining about, but this size French press retails for $30 , and replacement glass retails for $15-17. The product that I received was in an official Bodum box and fit my frame perfectly. I'm once again enjoying my favorite small amount of very dark coffee. Huzzah! ON SIZING: when Bodum says "cup" in their sizing, they DON'T mean ~8 oz. U.S. cups, they mean 4 oz. European espresso cups. Check and double-check product measurements before ordering to save yourself and some poor warehouse employees some time and heartache. ON DURABILITY: make sure to unscrew your frame from your beaker when washing it to avoid eventual cracks from the little scratches you get twisting it out of a tightened frame. Bodum also makes a shatter-resistant plastic replacement beaker, available here on Amazon: BODUM Shatterproof Plastic 3 Cup Replacement Beaker, 12-Ounce - make sure to also buy the appropriately-sized replacement cross plate WITH A SILICON EDGE if you are switching from glass to plastic - the metal plunger's mesh edges will scratch up and eventually destroy the plastic beaker. ... show more
