First of all, this is mostly plastic but that is not a bad thing. I've had multiple french presses, including Bodum ones, that the metal frame eventually scratches the glass beaker some even became rusty. I prefer this plastic frame over a metal one. have had there four cup one for years and love it, but this one is pretty flimsy. once metal parts are now plastic and the lid seems thinner. mine arrived with a broken lid
