I had tried a couple types of cold brew coffee makers, and was about to give up until I found this one. I ordered one, and it I loved it. I now have two of them and rotate them so I always have cold brew coffee ready. I buy whatever decent coffee is on sale at the local grocery store, I've been going with the pre-ground ones, and it works so well. Just pour some ground coffee into the container, add cold water to just below the black liner top, stir with a spoon, and put in fridge with the flat top. Since I have two, once one is done, put in dishwasher and put the press lid on the next one. Then after the one in the dishwasher is clean, make the next batch. Always have coffee ready to be drank. I have four zero sugar syrups I mix with it and just add a little bit of milk and all set! This makes cold brew so easy to use and easy to clean. ... show more

This is my first go at making cold brew at home. I bought a mason jar with handle & spout (works great) with comes with a metal filter cone (not useful). At least with my well researched coffee:water ratio - and now limited practical experience - the cone will have coffee higher than the water you would use. And, it's a pain to get the grounds out afterwards. This french press works much, much better. First, you get more coffee to water contact. Why try to keep them apart? It's almost cruel. Second, should you choose you can really press the coffee out of the grounds to get every drop (you may get a little more sludge). Third, because it's got the widest of mouths it's the easiest dump out and clean. However, I DO recommend the mason jar handle/spout as a cool and practical container for the brew you will make from your concentrate. Just put the filter cone aside or put it on your coffee table as a conversation piece. It looks better than it works. I'm still working on perfection but here's what I've got so far. - 5.5oz course ground coffee. So far I like Eight O'Clock for value but I'll play the field. Dump grounds into french press. - Add 40oz clean water. Stir, cover. Leave for 24-36 hours with a good stir once or twice. I get noticeably better taste when I leave it out at room temp rather than "brewing" in the fridge. - Press the coffee. I get about 32oz of cold brew. I pour it into my mason/handle/spout thingamajig. Add 12oz clean water for approx 44oz (don't hold me to it). Shake and place in fridge. - Dump the grounds, rinse or wash it out. I've been using this cold brew maker for about three months now and overall I'm quite satisfied with it. The coffee it produces is definitely smooth and less acidic than my regular hot brew, which I really appreciate. The 51oz capacity is great for making enough cold brew to last me several days. The locking system works well most of the time, though occasionally I need to adjust it to get a proper seal. The silicone lid does a nice job preserving the flavor while brewing, and having two different lids gives good flexibility. The stainless steel filter does its job well, though I do get some fine sediment at the bottom of my cup sometimes. I’ve had this pitcher for about 4 months now. This has truly been a money saver for me. I drink coffee nearly every day, multiple times a day, so going out for coffee stopped being realistic and cold brew from the store skyrocketed in price. Which is when I bought this. The container itself is pretty slim and fits well in my busy fridge. Pretty self explanatory to use, drop the beans in, add water, I typically stir the beans to make sure they all get saturated, add the lid, and sit overnight. The least amount I’ve let them sit was about 5 hours, most about 2 days 😅 use the plunger piece, push the grounds down, and pour. Some “cons” people may have. This does use a lot of grounds. I fill up the beans to the top of the black trim, not sure how many cups or anything that is. I normally buy winco brands seasonal bags ($5) with a high caffeine bag, half and half the two, and both those bags last me about 5-6 fills in the pitcher. Which, to me, is still worth it, because it’s significantly less expensive then the other options. Also, occasionally the grounds will come up through the plunger piece, especially if you go up and down with it several times. I’ve learned to just rinse the plunger off and it’ll push all the grounds back down again. And finally, like I said, I drink a lot of coffee. I have a 24oz cup, one pitcher lasts maybe 3-4 cups worth of coffee before I have to refill it, which sometimes is one day. So it is a little small, but it makes enough for what the purpose is, and if you’re a single person or the only one drinking coffee in your house, it’s definitely a nice buy. Overall, this is probably the best purchase I’ve made in the last 6 months. The coffee has great taste, very rich, and easy to use. I would definitely buy another if the one I have ever breaks, and would recommend one to any of my cold-brew drinking friends. ... show more

French pressed cold brew is as tasty as any system I’ve tried. I’ve several 8 to 32 oz French presses, and wanted a bigger one [mainly to SAVE prep-TIME, by coffee lasting more days.] *A nice surprise was the plunger filter was One Piece—and, therefore, Much Easier and QUICKER to CLEAN than my other [steel/screen/steel-layered, and should-be-disassembled] presses. *I regard the use of PLASTIC instead of glass & steel to be a net Benefit—because I’m so accomplished at breaking the glass containers. The plastic seems to be highest-quality, and taste-inert. (I’m guessing these all-plastic presses are designed for cold-brew ONLY—and I’m not going to experiment with hot.). *Improvement ideas (MY Preferences, only): For cramming into the fridge, I’d like the handle to protrude less. This cold brew coffee maker is amazing so far. I've had it a week about a week and made 2 "pots" so far. I bought a coarse, cold brew coffee and used it. I like French vanilla, so that's what I bought. If you are still deciding, watch some of the review videos. They are what sold me. I bought a large thing of French vanilla creamer, and between the coffee and the creamer, I'm really enjoying it. I'm going to save a lot of money too since I don't have to go to the expensive places for coffee. I don't know how the seal will hold up, but it seems to be well made. I don't see it failing anytime soon. And with the cost, it won't make it expensive to replace if they eventually do fail somewhere down the road. Very glad I made this purchase.
