I generally use my little giant ladder for work at this height, the problem with the little giant is it is nearly twice as heavy, you have to hinge it at the middle then extend both halves seperately and then try to stand it up. It is heavy and unweildy to move around the house and keep extended vertically as you move it from one window or piece of gutter to the next. When I first got this telescoping ladder I was dissapointed at the weight, I am not sure what I expected but this felt heavier than I expected. On my bathroom scales this weighed 22.8lb. I went and looked for the specs of my little giant to find out it weighed 38lb. I was a little happier now that this ladder was just a bit more than half the weight. This ladder is very easy to extend and collapse. To extend you do nothing but stand on the bottom rail, grap the top rail an pull up. You do not have to press any catches or latches, it all locks into place by itself. It is literally up in less than 10 seconds. As for putting it down that is not much harder, each rung has two plastic sliders. Push them inwards with your thumbs and the ladder section above collapses. I did not time myself but I would guess maybe just 20 seconds to completely disassemble. At no time did I feel unsafe or unstable when I climbed this ladder, the rubber feet afforded good grip on the concrete driveway and nothing moved. There was no sideways sway which you sometimes get on lower end I-beam section extension ladders. Of course if I was doing a lot of work at a single place and carryinb weight up and down I would still use my little giant which is rated at 375lb, just because I have one and I will alway try to choose the safest option when it is available. I am in no way saying that this is unsafe, just that I have something higher rated. Thank you for reading my review and looking at my photos of this product. I hope you found it helpful!     • Good idea, acceptable execution, but... if heights scare you, so will this.
I wanted to get a compact ladder for my shop... I have open rafters, and I store wood up there to dry and be out of the way. Having a ladder that I could use to retrieve pieces, but not take up a lot of space, was my idea, and this works just fine for that. When compressed, it's not even bench heigh, and about 6 inches thick. Fits right into a nook in my shop, out of the way, almost invisible. When extended, it lets me get up and grab some wood pieces, access my rafters, etc.. It gets good reviews for that. Now, if you are wanting a LIGHT WEIGHT ladder to carry around, be advised... this is a bit heavier than you probably expect it to be. It's not as heavy as a wooden ladder, but it is heavier than a 6' aluminum ladder, even heavier than my 6' extendable to 10 aluminum ladder. So... it's not the lightest thing, but that's okay. You kind of want a little heft to collapsible ladders, so they don't collapse! And, if you like the safe, secure feeling of a good solid metal, fiberglass or wood straight ladder under you while you work... then get one. I did a full extension on this, and climbed to my second story porch, and honestly, it was a little more flexible than I liked. It bends at full extension... but it doesn't break. It IS sturdy and it does work, but... if you are used to a solid ladder, this has a bit of bend/sway to it as you climb and work. It held me fine, I got used to the feel, but if you don't like a little play under you when you are at 10 feet in the air... you might want to rethink this. I like it. It does the job, and I'll probably use it around the house a bit. If I need to get on the roof, this will work. If I need to touch up that trim, it's fine. But if I really need to trim a tree from a ladder with a chainsaw in my hand... I'll get my trusty aluminum ladder. ... show more

    • Great ladder for working on the outside of our house
When I need to do something on the outside of the first floor of our house, the 6 foot standard step ladder isn't really a great option, and I don't want to bother getting the big extension ladder out as it's heavy and awkward to move easily. The Bocom telescoping ladder is the perfect ladder for what i need. The ladder is light enough to carry easily from the garage to where I need to place it. It is also small enough when fully retracted to carry with one hand leaving my other hand free to carry my tools. Definitely NOT something I could ever say about my extension ladder. It is also great for storage as I can just slide it in between my shelving units or inside a closet. The ladder is made out of aluminum. The telescoping mechanism works smoothly and there were no sections that were hard to extend or retract at all. When I had it extended partially, it was solid as a rock. When I extended it to the full 12.5 foot length to get on the roof there was a little wobble. It wasn't something I was concerned about as my heavy duty 28 foot extension ladder also has a bit of flex when fully extended. It is normal and not a structural issue. All in all, I am very happy with this ladder. It is lightweight and compact but solidly built and sturdy, which is everything you need in a ladder. At $100 I think it is definitely a good value, especially since I paid $200 for my Giant folding ladder. ... show more

This ladder has a smooth action and was very easy to extend and retract. To me, it felt sturdy and stable. My husband is over 6 feet tall and he said it was a little wobbly when fully extended. I think that’s just the nature of aluminum telescoping ladders and doesn’t affect the integrity and strength of this ladder. The stabilizers at the bottom are an improvement over others I’ve tried.
