We received this just yesterday. So far it appears to be working as designed. We appreciate that the carafe is glass, not plastic, and fits well in the door of our fridge. The machine controls are intuitive and user-friendly. The box arrived with an QR insert to receive a free extra carafe--did that just today so will wait to see if / how long that takes to arrive... The municipal water reports where we live show an average of 38 TDS with a hardness of 7 in tap water--not bad but not ideal, which is why we invested in this. After the initial flush sequence, we ran five or six carafes of water and the ROPOT consistently produced a reading of 01 TDS. The taste of the water is notably less mineral and, assuming the reading is accurate, the machine is clearly removing a good amount of remaining solid contaminants from our tap water. It is likely for legal reasons the machine will never give a reading less than 01 but the actual TDS may in fact be <01. Two drawbacks that we have observed so far: (1) the tank on the back is a little small so it requires refilling often. (Understand that a larger tank makes the whole unit larger so it is tradeoff for space efficiency.) It might be a nice feature to sell with an extra back tank included in the initial purchase... (2) While the ROPOT LITE is more water efficient than some other RO products available, there is still quite a bit of waste water generated. When we continued to run the unit without adding or replacing water in the main tank to reduce waste water, the output TDS rose to 02--not bad and certainly drinkable but shows that even a new filter will have its limits and requires a good amount of relatively clean water to start with. Waste water is going to be inherent in any RO system, but something to be aware of since water efficiency is becoming more critical for us all. If this is going to be your first RO filtration experience, understand that RO isnt a filtration system that allows one to filter and use all the water that is put into the system. So plan on having to discard some water on the regular and/or be willing to accept slightly more contaminants in the output to reduce waste. My girlfriend and I started using this product during the Memorial Day weekend. It came well packed and was easy to set up and get started. I think the instruction booklet is very good and easy to follow. The one instance I contacted customer service, I was really impressed. That was just a question about the filter. I tested our softened well water, which was not very drinkable, at 490 (on a TDS meter). We flushed the new filter as described and after running several cycles of filtered water, the readings on the machine's TDS were in the 10-40 range mostly. They settled into the 15-25 range after further filtering. This is well within the 90-95% filter rate expected by the product. Yes, there is waste water but not as much as I expected. This machine is relatively quick and quiet. Easy to operate and takes up less space and is very portable. You can stop the filtering process at any time. We have several 32 and 64 ounce Mason jars that we filled with water for storage in the fridge and on the counter. The larger 64 ounce jar even fits in where the carafe sits. I liked the taste right off the bat, but my girlfriend needed an extra additive. We put in about 4-5 drops of concentrated mineral solution into a full carafe (40 ounces) and the taste was more to her liking. The older cat seems to like the water as she drinks it often. The pros: This filtering machine works well and produces really nice, clean water. It works just as described. The cons: None really. Be aware that during the 30 second back flushing, a few drops of water may drip in the front where the carafe would sit and there may be a very small amount of water on the back ledge where the tank sits when it is removed for filling. This is very minor and in no way affects the operation of the product. We just have a small wash cloth handy if it is needed to soak up the few drops. I really liked the fact that this machine uses only one filter. Hopefully it lasts 9-12 months. Time will tell. It is good for 1-2 people. We are both retired and the ROPOT-lite is perfect for us. I expect we will use it almost daily. It is well made and looks durable. The blue color is sweet as my S/O loves it. We didn't want to spend a fortune on a water filtering system. We looked at some in the $1,000-$1,500 range but that was too much to spend. I looked at under the sink R/O options and distilled water machines. We live in an apartment and are limited as to what we can install. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase. I didn't mind spending $300 for good clean water and the convenience of making it on demand. Now, we know what we will be drinking without wondering if the water is really safe or not. After spending a few months doing research on water filtering, I think this unit is the best option for us. I think this product came on the market about a year ago, so I hope it will last quite a while. You can trust customer service if you have a need as they are very friendly and responsive. FURTHER UPDATE: 12/28/2023...Product has been working well but I recently had a minor issue. I contacted customer service and once again they were prompt and responsive in dealing with my problem. Pros: convenience, ease of use, compact size, portability, waste water storage, speed, quiet, long life filter Cons: initial cost, unknown durability, fragility of carafe, fragility of handle on water tank I have high hopes for this unit, and so far my expectations have been met. I’ve been drinking R/O water for years and now have moved into a smaller residence with no room under sink for the old setup. I hate lugging water from the grocery store and other home filtering is unacceptable. This model has solved many of those issues, and so far has been a pleasure to use. The water tastes great! I will update this review as necessary. 8/24/23 *UPDATE* Pleased to report the unit is still functioning well. I use it daily and almost 3 months to the day, the filter light finally dropped one bar (of four). At this point, it looks like the filter will last approximately 1 year.
