  • Simple, works well.
Style: Blue Pure 411
Purchased a 211+ and x4 411 units in February of 2020. Just purchased a second 211+ in August 2023. All 5 previously purchased units still work perfectly after over 3 years of continuous running, only turned off for cleaning. The blue and/or gray pre-filter needs vacuumed off about once a month with a furniture brush attachment. The 411 units are top-heavy and have all been knocked over multiple times by pets and kids in 3 years, but continue to work just fine. The red change filter lights do not all come on in the same day, but within a week of each other usually, after about 6 months. We have one in every main room and bedroom and they have greatly reduced dust and other allergy related air issues in our home. They are a very quiet on low, a little noisy on medium, and very noisy on high. We turn them all on high when cleaning the house. We leave them on medium most of the time, especially in rooms we aren't using. Ran on low in bedrooms at night. My only complaint is the price of the replacement filters is a bit high, but our family feels that it is worth it. Photos are new filters next to dirty 6 months filters. ... show more

  • Slightly larger than the original
Style: 211i Max
I was forced to buy this unit to replace my original BlueAir 211 unit from 2016 which is still going strong. Sadly the manufacturer is no longer making replacement filters for the original units, although they will eventually have a metal cage and filter one can use. The newer unit was on sale via Amazon Prime Day so I picked one up to compare. The newer 211i Max unit is slightly larger than the older version. At maximum the sound is similar, but what is cool about the newer one is you can modify the fan speed in tiny increments to lower the sound and speed where the original unit only had 3 preset speeds. I'd say overall, the newer unit isn't as quiet as I'd hoped but is surely no louder than the original. The app says my air is "excellent" and as such if I toggle it to the Auto setting it puts the fan speed on the lowest setting. However, since I have allergies to dust and pollen, I decided to keep the fan at 60% (~the middle setting on the original) to ensure the air stays clean. I don't trust their ability to understand the air cleanliness in my home due to other reviewers saying they blew pollutants into the unit and it couldn't differentiate them. If I could trust it - it'd be a nice electricity savings as well as noise reduction. The app is OK - but not excellent as it is not intuitive (e.g., they show PMIs of 1, 2.5 and 10 but the list is only for show - I initially thought we could choose to toggle which PMI level we wanted to remove from the air). Overall I'd imagine the unit will perform as the original did, but no better, but I'd have preferred to keep the original rather than buy the new one. At least the Amazon Prime Day Deal took some of the sting out of the "upgrade". ... show more

  • Blueair 211+ Max is SO MUCH better than old Blueair 311 Auto
Style: 211i Max
My wife and I recently purchased a blueair 211+ Max since we live off a main artery in NYC and have abnormally high amounts of dust in our apartment due to 1. The smog coming up from the street and 2. We live above a laundromat. The 311 Auto was woefully undermatched for the amount of dust deal with. The pre filter would constantly be caked in dust and my dust allergies would be popping off every single day. We recently bit the bullet and decided to get a 2nd air purifier, the 211+ Max. Yes it's 100% overkill for the size of our apartment. But due to the abnormal amount of dust we get, we needed overkill. I can tell you without a doubt that Blueair's Blue Pure Max line is a SERIOUS upgrade over the old generation. This 211 is an absolute beast, keep the air pristinely clean at all times. They also clearly worked on the acoustics, as the old 311 has a bit of a whistling sound, whereas the new 211 (even though it's double the size), just sounds like a nice subtle whoosh of air even at full fan speed. And the new app it comes with makes it exponentially better than the old generation. Can control fan speed via the app, can see a real time chart of pollutant levels in your home, and best of all they have a Home feature which runs off GPS, which allows you to set it so that it will automatically turn on/off if you're home vs leave your home. Will turn on automatically if it senses you're 2.5km from home (you can adjust the distance). I never write Amazon reviews but this product is 100% worthy of a fantastic review. ... show more

  • All I can say is it has worked!
Style: 311i+ Max
I was having terrible stuffy noses at night! Fine during the day but for what ever reason I almost always had runny or full on clogged nose (not every night) but so often that I finally broke down and spent $300 to buy an air purifier. I have not regretted it for a second. I would buy it a again if need be in a heart beat. I sleep SO MUCH better now and I rarely if ever wake up with a stuffy or runny nose now. (I tried meds, they helped but did not nearly help as much as the air purifier has. ) It's been about 1 and 1/2 months since I have bee. Using it (might actually be 2 months now, idk) I have it running at setting level 2 every night. I hear the fan but it's a comfortable low sound easy to sleep to. On setting 1 which is the lowest, it is super quite. Even standing next to it I can hardly hear it. I have it 3 feet away from my bed on a table and on setting 2 I get very soft breeze from it, I absolutely love. (I don't think k most people will few a breeze from it). In shot alli can say is it was genuinely worked for me and made my sleeps much better! 100% recommended. ... show more

  • The Best Pandemic Investment You Can Make
Style: Blue Pure 411
When the pandemic hit the world full-force, in April 2020 — our governments having locked us down — citizens had to use their lights to survive what would be harrowing months inside their homes. The first thing I did was to buy masks; then vitamin supplements; then I looked to see how I could improve air quality around me. Suddenly, the air one breathed, could be filled with hidden aerosoles bringing death to one’s loved ones. I was concerned. My partial solution: buy the Swedish-made “BlueAir 411 Air-Purifier”. I was lucky. Within one day of my purchase, this Air Purifier was sold out, and back ordered for a month. When it did arrive, I immediately thought it looked like a toy. It is compact, charming, almost sweet-looking. It had an undefinable otherness which most gadgets don’t: a Nordic cool, which goes far beyond Ikea. Though I have a classic, not especially modern, décor, it fit it like a glove. It took a while to situate it, but eventually I chose the central location of our kitchen. Almost immediately I saw its benefits when I burnt dinner and the fire alarm went off. Opening the windows, I left the area and returned about a half hour later. Incredibly, the smell was absolutely gone. Almost as if nothing had been burnt. I decided to test this capability by putting an old handbag I loved, but which had gone musty, near it. Now, it didn’t take out ALL the smell after I set it near the tower. But 80% of it had gone. I could not believe it. And let me tell you, this munchkin Air Purifier is a little workhorse. I ran it nonstop for about a week, and it never once stopped whirring around, or lessened its effectiveness. The entire house, not just the kitchen, smelt purer, cleaner, better. I used to work in a place which piped in pure oxygen to stimulate the brain to work more efficiently, and this is the exact sensation you get now with the BlueAir Purifier. Speaking of workplaces, since I’m unemployed, thanks to the pandemic, I couldn’t afford a higher-priced model, but you can bet your life I’ll buy one of them, the moment my fortunes change. I’m eyeing the “medium-sized” 311 as my next BlueAir. Some details: - There are three settings, which light up when touched. These are very sensitive, and it takes a little practise, as one more touch than necessary forces you to go through the cycle of settings. But you’ll get the hang of it. - The ‘on’ light is a bother at night, and I’ve seen some nifty workarounds in reviews. We put our cell phone on top of the light, at night. Problem over. - When you change the filter, tap once, and the tap-hold it for 10 seconds. It tells the gadget that there’s a new filter. - You can buy the pre-filter “sock” in various colours, or just wash them. I compromised: I let the original get very mucky (see filter photos), and then just bought a new one (another blue, it’s so choice). I thought laundering it would fade the sock’s elegant hue, and would make it too stretchy. The photo of the sock is the slate grey one, which comes alongside the blue. It’s not quite black, not quite grey. I haven’t tried any of the other shades yet. - The replacement filter had a nauseating milky scent to it, which was totally not the case with the original. It gave me a headache, so I asked for and received a replacement from Amazon. If this happens to you, even months later, try to get a replacement. - Register your BlueAir product in their site. You get all kinds of coupons and such, plus if anything goes wrong, replacements are easier. Note, I did buy the Asurion protection for my BlueAir via Amazon. So far, so good, though! - Download their app, which I use on my iPad. It has many handy indices, such as air quality for most places around the world. I added my city, and I’m sure you’ll laugh, but I added “Wuhan, China” too. Might as well keep an eye on them, right? All joshing aside, if you value your lungs, your health, and that of your loved ones, buy an Air Purifier for your home. It’s one of the simplest weapons in our arsenal against this deadly virus. I’m an asthmatic, and during all this time, I never once had to resort to my Albuterol or suffered allergies. I FEEL HAPPIER, HEALTHIER AND SAFER, and that, my friends, is priceless. P.S.: Check out the photos attached to my review. That’s my filter after 3 months of use. The pics do not do the reality justice. Can you imagine all that gunk going into our lungs? BlueAir, where you been all my life? ... show more

  • quiet, powerful, effective air purifier!
Style: 311i Max
The media could not be loaded. I bought this air purifier due to the Canada wildfires causing air quality issues in my area for the duration of summer- and because I live in an old apartment- for someone with respiratory problems this was a must. it definitely does its job quickly and effectively! it senses changes in air quality fast- if I open a window nearby while the air is bad, the light flips to red and the fan starts running on high. it manages to clear the entirety of my 650 sqft apartment in minutes. I've even noticed it starts running a little harder after my cats have used the litter box, which is located in the same room. it has five fan settings- auto (which changes fan speed depending on the air quality), night mode (does the same but quietly and therefore more slowly), and 3 set fan speeds. I included a video which hopefully shows noise level and fan power well. (please excuse my cat, she liked my tissue paper method) setup was ridiculously easy. just plug it in, connect to the app, and it starts going at it. it is a bit large, but the design is modern and pleasing enough that it's not an eyesore. it's also not heavy at all, definitely less than 10lbs. the app is also very convenient- you can control fan speed, schedule (if you want one), a child lock, and even the brightness of the LEDs. while away from home I can check in and see if there have been any spikes in poor quality air. blue air also has a wonderful feature that allows you to see the remaining lifetime of your filter. I believe the model I bought has an advertised lifetime of 6-9months, and after a full month of use on auto mode, I'm still at 93%. the only negative I've noticed so far is not even really due to the purifier itself- the outside is fabric, which is turning out to be a very tempting scratching post for my cats. I believe the fabric can be replaced however so it's not really a big deal. overall I really love this purifier, it's definitely made a difference in my breathing this summer! ... show more

  • Really Impressed!
Style: 211i Max
I was skeptical at first that this air purifier would do anything noticable. However, I did A lot of research on air purifiers and found that this BLUE AIR brand was highly rated by most who purchased it as well as product testers who tried out several different brands to compare them. What this Air purifier does well is - 1. It does actually keep dust particles off of your shelves and out of the home in general. I noticed a need to dust much less often. 2. It keeps smells out of the home. I have two dogs and while I keep them very clean, I am always paranoid that my house will smell like dogs when people come through my doors. (I believe this air purifier works well for pet dander) 3. This item is great for taking cooking smells out of the home. If i cook bacon or fish or a food dish that tends to have a lingering smell, this air purifier just takes the smell right out! It has really impressed me and I am SO happy with this purchase. Overall this BLUE AIR purifier was quiet, worked great and is actually designed pretty nice and has a pleasant look to it. It is one of the higher priced air purifiers out there but still less money than a Dyson. (Was actually going to purchase the Dyson air purifier because I thought it must be better but almost all of the reviews that compared BLUE AIR to Dyson showed BLUEAIR worked better) If you are still not sure, read the other reviews posted, there are lots of reviews posted that agree this is a superior product compared to various other air purifiers. ... show more

  • Nice little air filter
Style: Blue Pure 411
I have owned this 411 for over a year now. We keep this one in our bedroom and have noticed a significant difference in waking up with the sniffles in the morning from dust (I guess). We have an older dog that smells bad sometimes. I noticed a strong dog smell in my child's room and moved the filter in there. Within an hour or so, the smell was gone! I really love this little air filter and would like to purchase one for each bedroom eventually. My only complaint is that there seems to be a little glitch with the filter change alerts. Neither time the filter has needed replacing has it turned orange. The light goes straight to red. I had read that it was supposed to turn orange to alert you to order a new filter, and then it turns red when it is time to replace. Not a big deal, but I do like things to work the way they say they will. ... show more
