I bought this because I have dogs and dust and live in an area where people can burn refuse. This product is wonderful! Helps remove dog dander and has cut down on dust. When neighbors burn refuse the air gets filled with smoke and my eyes burn and water, even when windows are closed. This air purifier is an excellent solution. It also has filters that can be cleaned and does not require buying new filters. It is also quiet. I bought the whole house variety. I highly recommend this product. Bought one of these in November 2023 and a second one shortly afterwards. Controls are conveniently placed on top where you can easily see them. We programmed the one in our bedroom to run on low at night so it doesn't wake us. I don't pay a lot of attention to the sensors and I am not sure how accurate they are. The proof for me is the debris I vacuum off the unit's filters (including the HEPA) once a month, which is considerable. I could really tell the difference in air quality after using it for just a few days. To test out the first unit, we deep cleaned a particularly dusty room and ran it there to see how well it would cut particulates/dust. It made a huge difference. Before we got the Shark, and even with our other air filters running, we could write our name on furniture within a single day or so of dusting (old house). This unit has dramatically cut the need to dust and vacuum in this room, and we definitely breathe better. I have tried several other expensive brands including Blueair. The latter is much larger and very loud by comparison and just does not work as well unless I run it on high nonstop. The Shark is a very intelligent design. It pulls air in like a vortex through fins on the sides that direct air across a wide swath of filter material. Kind of reminds me of hood scoops on cars. Most other devices I have tried have little holes on the sides and most seem to draw area through the filter material. The Blueair units that we have pull air from the floor surface through the middle of the unit and expel from the top. None that we have tried previously are as effective as the Shark. I have had excellent luck with Shark vacuums and own three of those, so I was thrilled to discover they made an air filter that works as well as their vacuums. Super impressed with this particular product and they are both working great after 4 months. We don't use the "odor control" disc as I don't like the indoor air pollution of air fresheners. You can turn them to an off position but we just don't install them at all and it doesn't affect operation. I don't understand some of the critical comments about how these don't work. You are not going to get a "clean room" research lab quality environment for plus or minus $300 and it might have something to do with placement. If you have smells that have permeated your walls and flooring, this is not going to fix that. This is a well priced consumer product that works great for most needs if you are looking to pull particulate matter out of the air. We have one in a very large eat in kitchen/family room and another in a master bedroom. They handle the dander and debris of several dogs and two birds plus typical household dust very well. ... show more

This was a huge investment for us but so far, it really works well in cleaning our air. We have a wood stove we use for winter and this helps the dust down! I have it in the middle of our top floor (we have a split level home, top floor is about 1000sqft by itself), close to the kitchen and as soon as I'm cooking something, this picks it up fast and goes to work quickly! Definitely feel the air is cleaner and the smells from the food is quickly gone. We also tried the "fragrance" air freshener it comes with, but it didn't last much, I think they should have included at least 3 of those little discs as a starter pack, the one it came with only lasted like a week then it stopped providing that fresh smell. Still a great investment, we check the filter often and it definitely picks up a lot from our air. Will buy another one for our bottom floor for sure! ... show more

I love the air purifier but I am not crazy about the odor neutralizing cartridge. I am not a fan of most artificially scented things, as they tend to irritate my asthma. That being said, even the odor neutralizer wasn't over powering. The air purifier is simple to use and gets a great rating though. I am super happy with that. It isn't too loud, but it does sound like white noise. I don't mind that. A decent machine. I hope it lasts. ... show more

I have a loved one that can now stay at my home over night. She is allergic to dogs and I have three. Over Christmas she was able to stay at my house for the three nights that she wanted to. She did take allergy medication too. I bought two of these for each end of my first floor. Then I also bought two of Shark's smaller ones. I put the smaller ones in my upstairs hallway and the other small one in the bedroom she would sleep in. All four are still on and work great. This is my 3rd Shark Air Purifier and I love them. I keep one in my kitchen, living/family room and bedroom. Tells me what my air quality is, I leave them running on AUTO 24/7 and don't notice much difference in my electric bill. I like this particular one better than the older model because it comes with the scent cartridge and you can really smell it when the purifier kicks on when cooking bacon or something like that. This isn't loud when running wide open (the older one I have is much louder). Would definitely purchase again. ... show more
