I wanted a rack for my 2014 trail 4runner and I didn't have a set budget. The only issue that sets me apart from others is that I live in Alaska and every other rack company was charging almost half the rack just to get it up here, so free shipping on this one made it very tempting. It was a no brainer honestly. What's the worse that could happen, I return it? I ordered it and hoped it would actually get delivered. I'm happy to say it got here right on time, and in good condition. I looked everything over and all the pieces seemed pretty well cut, so that was a good sign. The metal for the side seemed flimsy at first, but once I started adding everything together and tightning stuff down it took any bowing or slack out, and I'd say it's super stiff now amd I'm not even worried. A few tips. If you decide to drill the holes for the extra support brackets, start with a small drill bit and get a pilot hole going, and then switch to the 7/16th. Also add a small piece of PVC over the drill bit as a backstop once you get through the hole. I almost drilled through my headliner. All in all the rack is great, and has all the features you'd be paying for with other racks, the instructions were very clear, and shipping and packaging were spot on. Easy install took me and my husband about 45mins to put it together and that included installing it on my 4Runner. I had a little noise from me not wanting to drill the front brackets but I added a strip of 3m tape to the bracket and it’s been good ever since.

The product was as described in the listing. I used 2 saw horses and a 5x4' 3/4 plywood as a table. Layed out all pieces of metal and hardware. Followed the instructions and it fit exactly as planned on my 5th gen 4RUNNER. 4 out of 5 stars. I'm going to remove and replace eye bolts with SS ones with better quality t-nuts. I could not use factory rack roof bolts. They are too long. Also very difficult to tight L&R side fromt bolts. The diverted gets in to way. IMHO I would use SHCS for roof mounting. It was a bit pricier than expected, but it fits great, looks great and is low profile. I worry about rust where M6 combo bolts thread in. Also, the eyebolts werevpoor tapped and the start threads were not cleaned. I had 4 incidents where there was some cross threading. The M6 combo bolts were also, very cheap quality. This is what you can expect from China. I've already ordered SS replacements (stainless steel) from Grainger. Additional cost of $75. As a machinist, I check each bolt, thread, and nut for starting. (I would have spec's nylok nuts instead of loc washers) The M6 combo bolts were problematic because of this. The thick paint made it difficult to get the hex key to stay in the bolt. Although, I am worried about rust ( cheap coating) Rustoleum makes a satin. Crinkle paint for touch up. All structural pieces were wrapped. Not bent scratched or warped. No missing components, hardware. I used a tap to chase threads before mounting the slotted bars and also on the nuts. I assume the threads are correct, but thick paint coating adds to the problem of starting the threads and can quickly cross thread. I used anti-seize for all nut/ bolt combos and BLUE loc-tite on assembly. I used BLUE loctite on roof bolts. ( NOTE- When removing factory M8 flange bolts, use a scribe or small nail to clean out the roof rail threads. There is some junk, fibers that collect in the bottom. If ya don't get this out of the blind hole, the supplied M8 bolts will not go deep enough. ) the factory mounting bolts were 10-15mm longer than the supplied M8's. Overall it will serve its purpose. Once I replace the bolts, eye bolts and nuts, she'll last a long time. ... show more

This was an easy build and instructions were clear. My partner and I were able to put it together in just a few hours with no issues. I love that it has a non-drill option as I was worried about water leaks. It's improved my gas mileage from my previous roof rack and has minimal wind noise.

I’m cheap, wanted a cheap rack and this was the cheapest full length rack on the market, installed easily, made a short YouTube video on it. I love it and how it looks and cannot beat it for the price point, will be adding much more to the rack shortly !

Grat rack for the price. I couldn't pull myself to spend $1000 + on the name brand ones. It has worked great and holds up well to the weight of a Smittybilt overlander xl gen 2 tent and a ARB awning and a gravity fed water system. The mounting hardware is very cheap so I bought all new stainless and replaced it. ... show more
