All I need is a simple white/red headlamp with a decent amount of range and lumens, and this does all of that. The build quality seems to be much better than what I have seen previously in headlamps priced around $5, sold in packs of 3 at big box stores. The headband is pretty high quality and it's comfortable. The battery power meter feature is nice; I'm not sure the power remaining indicator is completely reliable with NiMH rechargeables, but when it's down to one blue light, the batteries still work--although just barely. The point of failure that I have had with previous headlamps is that the click-adjustable tilt up/down capability eventually stops holding the light at various angles, and it just flops down immediately. This Black Diamond model seems stronger in that respect; we'll see how it goes long-term. ... show more

This Diamond headlamp is very inexpensive and is a solid performer. There many instances where you may not be able to recharge your light so it's easy to carry spare AAA batteries.
