  • I'm was very impressed -- UPDATE on heater
I just got this portable a/c slash heater and started using it right away. I was very impressed at how fast it started cooling the room down, even in 90 degree temps. Set up was very quick and easy. I honestly think this works better than window units, and much easier to move from window to window if needed. UPDATE: I found out that if you leave the fan on low, the heater will work as normal. Otherwise it will continue to shut off quickly, no matter what temp you set it to. ... show more

  • Not recommended.
Here's the thing, if you're heating or cooling a closet, go for it. Bought this for a 13ftx7ft video editing and audio recording studio. The space is small. -It turns off every 2 or 3 minutes. -It never gets the enclosed space to the desired temperature. -The touch board has randomly lit up red. -The remote is inconsistent. -It's ridiculously loud, but I understood this going in, just didn't realize it would be as loud. -Letting it drain outside, it still causes the space to become humid and uncomfortable. -It's knocked out the power to this section of the house multiple times. I have an old tiny space heater (10inx7in) that heats the space far greater than this big expensive seemingly useless machine. Even now, it's been blowing heat on and off for the last hour. The temperature in the space has dropped... it's gotten colder. I have it set for 75-degrees. This has been an expensive disappointment. Update - Thursday, Aug 10, 2023 This thing is not cooling at all. Cold air comes out for a couple of minutes, and then it stops putting out cold air. The room is insulated well, no gaps for air to escape (for the most part). Running the AC, it's like the thing is not even on. Set at 72 degrees, after 30 minutes the temperature in the studio is increased to 90. The AC begins putting out hot air, just randomly, but the display still reads as if it's putting out cold air. I'm really disappointed by this. ... show more

  • Great!
I got a defective item the first time I ordered as it was not cooling and smelled of refrigerant so I decided to get a replacement and the process was very easy through UPS and Amazon, this one is blowing very cold at 41 degrees Fahrenheit in my studio apartment bedroom and quieter than the ac/heat pump in my living room but also a bit smaller in size and BTUs, I think, as well as presumably energy usage, though I haven't checked specifically. Still my bedroom is now in the 60s while it's still in the 80s as the night moves in, but the true test will be when it gets back up to 101 or more here in Kansas. With a Vornado fan to pull the AC air in from the living room on the hottest days of the year so far at 105 one day, my top floor bedroom topped out at 80 degrees Fahrenheit, which I had become used to somewhat but I still wanted it colder. The living room AC/heat pump despite being 13 years old, it has been a workhorse and still blows at 48 degrees Fahrenheit on those hottest days with good circulation but just too far from my room and the insulation is not the best, though again this is a top floor of two story apartments built over 40 years ago now. So so far, I am quite happy with this unit, and the replacement was a few days and easy! Much more comfortable to work in my bedroom now, may have to turn the unit down soon as it's almost too cold for me, but much better than too hot! ... show more

  • BPP08HWTB - Cold air
BPP08HWTB - Bought based on no reviews on this model number, based it on reviews of similar model numbers. So far happy with this product. Using it primarily for cool. Fan and Compressor does not run when cool temp is met. As stated in some other reviews, I like white noise and the unit fan and compressor stops when temp is met. I am using this unit along side my central AC to help keep up during the heat of the day. One problem i am having right now is, when the temp is met in the room the unit shuts off and 2 min later the fan and compressor turns back on before the temp in the room rises. ... show more

  • Loud but very cold
So far this thing kicks butt. You do have to let it sit for 24 hours before first use because the coolant needs to settle. Once fired up it cooled our office building 8x16’ in about an hour and a half. It was 95 degrees outside. Now that it has a chance to keep the building cool from the start of the day, it doesn’t take much effort for it to keep us comfortable around 74 degrees. One note is the compressor is quite loud ( it has a low buzz sound) and it may disrupt your work or school video calls. ... show more

  • Works fine, but has a few design flaws
I bought this unit in the summer of 2021 after a major heat wave in Seattle. In general this unit cools just fine and is not extremely noisy. My issues are as follows: 1. The window piece for the exhaust hose is too small -- needs a third optional section. And the "screws" I was sent to hold the pieces together were small plastic pegs that would not stay in place. 2. The hole for the exhaust hose in the window piece is almost as wide as the window piece. This means that it cannot sit fully in the window track and must sit on the narrow edge of the track. Newer versions fix this by having the round hose snap into a long oval opening on the window piece. 3. For some reason, whenever I turn this unit on, or when it automatically shifts from the fan to AC, there is a mini power surge that affects nothing in my house except for my TV cable box/DVD. That half-second surge reboots my cable box and knocks out the TV service for 4-7 minutes. My electrical engineer brother looked at it and we've tried adding surge protectors, etc., but the problem still occurs. Unfortunately due to the layout of my townhome and the availability of a window in the living room, this is the only place and only outlet I can use for unit and it is on the same circuit as the TV/Cable. That said, when I bought a unit for my upstairs office, I chose a smaller Black and Decker and it works well, has 3 window pieces and can sit in the track securely with real screws to hold the pieces together! ... show more
