Description

Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Acura RDX (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

  • Fits the 2019 Acura RDX A-Spec
This is a good product and fairly easy to install hitch. The product arrived on time, in a box that had holes ripped due to part of the hitch bar poking out. Was okay though, no major scratch and definitely nothing scratched where you could see it from the hitch hole. It's not a heavy product, so one adult can lift it up just fine. - I raised the rear of the RDX on two jackstands. Do you have to? I would say I highly recommend raising it up a bit, because you need some space even if you consider yourself skinny/tiny or whatever. The hitch bar itself needs some room for you to slide it under the car and then twist and turn it so that you can slide it up to match the bolt holes. - The most difficult part for me with the installation was aligning the bolts to the bolt holes. I used my car jack to help hold the hitch (from the center) up against the car while I tried for a length of time longer than expected to get the bolts into the bolt holes. Once the bolts screw in a few rotations into the bolt hole then all is good. - Someone has mentioned in a post somewhere that you could remove the plastic lip at the bottom of the RDX. If you can get that removed easily, then that will help make the installation easier. The plastic lip was wedged tight against the hitch, but not impossibly tight as I used a car jack to help provide that extra push upwards. In any case, I could not figure out an easy way to remove the plastic bottom lip part without risking breaking parts so I decided not to mess with it. Luckily, I did not have to remove that plastic part to successfully install the hitch. Make sure to have an extension or two (variety lengths would be ideal) handy for your 19 mm socket. Make sure to have a torque wrench handy. - Took me about an hour of operation to get the hitch up, bolted in and tightened to torque spec. Overall, it was an easy peasy job. It's installed and permanent, the finish looks good and also looks like it will last for a good long time. Since the 2019 Acura RDX tow rating is poor (1500 lbs max WITH passengers inside the vehicle), it will not matter that this hitch has a tow rating of 3500 lbs. Do be careful as the maximum tongue weight (the weight you press from the top of the hitch) is 350 lbs. Highly recommended for the 2019+ (3rd gen, so that means 2019/2021/2022 and 2023 as of now?) Acura RDX vehicle. ... show more

  • Tips to make installation easier
Install on a 2019 Acura RDX. Arrived in a cardboard box. Had two foam blobs to insulate the hitch. Appeared to be somewhat worthless. Did arrive in excellent condition. Hardware was taped into the receiver of the hitch. Good instruction sheet. Drop the spare tire and remove. My vehicle is 4 years old. The already tapped, predrilled holes were dirty and somewhat obstructed. Before attempting to mount the hitch clean them out and put the bolts in all the way a few times to clean. Better to do it before you are holding/aligning the hitch. There are 3 holes on each side. Use the 2 most aft holes (towards the back of the vehicle) so the spare tire will fit. It says you have to drop the mufflers but if you jack up at least one side of the vehicle a couple of inches, you can place the hitch vertically. It will then swing up into position fairly easy. (see picture) Some reviews say the bolt holes were not aligned. Mine were. It is now a matter of supporting the hitch to torque in the bolts at the recommended 60 ft lbs. I used my floor jack to support it for the 4th bolt. (the other 3 were easy) The directions say you may lose the "foot kick to open your rear tail gate". I did. I haven't had a chance to use the hitch, but installed it for a bike carrier. Appears to be solid. ... show more

  • Perfect….
Fit perfect, took a little work to get it done.

  • It fits!
Fit well and an easy install. Only needed to drop the spare tire on a 2025 RDX and then angle it right to get it past the exhaust (no need to drop). The instructions are spotty and the "may interfere with rear lift sensor" is pretty nebulous. Weight seems pretty solid, but we'll have to wait and see about rust and scratch resistence. ... show more

  • Buyer Beware! Acura RDX 2023
This hitch did not fit my 2023 RDX A Spec without modifications. Specifically, the hitch bolt holes are not far enough apart to allow bolts to thread into frame. You’ll need to grind out the hole a further 5mm to fit- see pics. There are other brands ie: e trailer which may have correct measurements. Wholly unacceptable unless you have proper tools. ... show more

  • Great Fit
Item arrived quickly. Good quality product. Installed by myself in about 45 mins. As mentioned by others you need to take the exhaust rubbers off and drop the exhaust a bit. I only did the drivers side and was able to install the hitch with minimal problems. We have spare wheel and I had no problem getting spare wheel back up under the vehicle. Install was 2021 RDX Aspec. ... show more

  • Biggest trick is to get the bolts started...
I installed the hitch on my 2019 RDX and the installation went pretty well, though it was somewhat difficult to get the bolts started. They are a fine threaded bolt and there was a little bit of rust in the holes on the frame. I used some rust penetrant and a very small wire brush to get most of it out. Because they are fine threaded, you need to be extra careful about not cross threading them. Start them by hand and only when you can get at least one turn, then use a wrench. Use some anti-seize compound when you put the bolts in. When cranking the spare back in place, you need to put the side by the hitch in first, or it won't pull up tight like it should. I did purchase a trailer hitch cover from Amazon to finish up the install. I had a 5 wire flat trailer wiring from a previous install. The hitch looks and works great! ... show more
