  • Works - Mostly
Received this 601 Bitaxe miner with a slight delay which was communicated by the vendor. The heatsink was found to have been moved from position during shipping so it took a few to sort that out. I ended up removing the heatsink, cleaning and resetting it with new thermal paste. The heat sink is only held on by two push pins and a spring bar attached to each side. Sort of diagonal arrangement which positions the spring bars to press in the center of the right and left sides of the heat sink. The unit worked for about 5-7 days, setup at my desk at work as a conversation starter. The fan is pretty quiet in normal operation. The power supply ended up failing after about 5-7 days, I heard a 'pop' sound under the desk, shortly after that the unit was found to not be functioning and in a overvoltage fault condition. After unplugging the power supply it worked for a short period at 5V but then drifted up to 5.4 to 5.6V, causing the fault again. I reset the heat sink to eliminate the issue; when that didn't work, I used a multimeter to check the power supply, it degraded over a couple days until even after cooling it off it would plug in and deliver too much voltage. Tested the unit on a adjustable DC power supply and found the BitAxe still working, but had to get another power supply to continue using it, was just beyond the return date when I got around to all my trouble shooting, so didn't try to return it. Its currently working on a power supply which cost me another $15.00, but its up and working. So overall, it looks kewl and is mostly operating as intended now on the new power unit for about a week without interruption. ... show more

  • Gamma 601
The fan is not connected, there are screws, but nowhere to connect them. Only two screws holding heatsink on other than these problems it works at 1.27THs pretty much all the time.

  • Not in working condition. SSID different than the default one.
Out of the box data did not load on the dashboard making it impossible to configure pool information. Was not able to use the device. Also came with an SSID that is not the default for Bitaxe... very questionable.
