We now have more pets than humans in our house, and I needed a quick way to clean up cat fur, litter, and crumbs, especially from our black rug. I remembered the carpet sweepers my parents used to use, so I started looking for one. This one was inexpensive and had some great reviews, some terrible, but due to the price I felt I could try it out. It's worked extremely well on rugs, not so much on the wooden floor. On the wood, it mostly pushes around anything that will roll, even if I go over the items multiple times. But it easily cleans up all the white cat fur and crumbs from our black-background rug, and much more easily than the vacuum cleaner does. It also works really well on a rug with deep grooves and on sisal. As an example of how well this sweeper works, I ran it over a rug I'd recently vacuumed, and it still picked up hair and fur and maybe some crumbs/litter. I was also able to clean a corner of the rug under our bed that's hard to get the vacuum cleaner into without switching to the tools. (The width of the sweeper is smaller than I'd imagined.) My only complaint is the color; the dust shows up right away on the black. Also, it's not fun pulling hair out of the brushes on the bottom, though it's also not fun emptying our bagless vacuum cleaner.... But it's very easy to empty the dirt from inside the sweeper into the garbage can by just pushing on either side of the bottom. Some people complained that the handle broke easily. I'm not sure what they meant by "broke," but I've found that I have to tighten the handle periodically, as it sometimes feels like it's loosening when I carry it. All in all, though, it's a quiet way to clean your rugs (I can listen to music while using it), environmentally friendly since there's no electricity needed, and handy since it's so light. I've had this over a week now and have used it multiple times, and each time I was very happy I'd bought it and wished I'd thought of getting a carpet sweeper years ago.

I was a little apprehensive about trying a cordless sweeper, but eventually decided to purchase this one. I will say that I am very pleasantly surprised. My main takeaways: 1) It is very light. This is important to me because I want to be able to use this during the week and only pull out my big vacuum on the weekend. Because it is so light and easy to handle it doesn't feel like I'm doing another "chore". With no prep time at all I can just pull it out and start immediately. In just a minute I am completely finished with no cords to deal with or big canister to empty. It is also relatively small so it fits in tighter places that my power vacuum doesn't. 2) It does a really good job. I own cats so there is always cat hair around. Additionally, there is always cat litter somewhere on the floor. I poured a small but significant amount of litter on my carpeted floor, and also on my linoleum kitchen floor. This sweeper did a very impressive job of cleaning it up on both surfaces. I will note that I found better success when I was able to push and pull the sweeper in long strokes across the floor rather than in short strokes that might be necessitated by tight spaces. With short strokes it did not do very well picking up the litter on the floor (the only reason for my 1-star deduction), but with long strokes it did very well. I must stress that this product does NOT replace a power vacuum, but does a very adequate job in between vacuumings. 3) It picks up both on the forward and back strokes. It also empties on both the front and rear of the base of the unit. The emptying literally could not have been made any easier. Also, it's not messy at all while doing so. I find this to be a huge plus. 4) Assembly was incredibly easy with no tools or tricks necessary to get the job done quickly. While it is small and light it does feel durable enough. Even while pushing down hard I don't fear that I'm putting any undue stress upon it. I expect this sweeper to last me a very long time. Overall, I am very happy that I chose to purchase this model. If I had it to do over again I would still choose this exact one. I think this will be the ideal solution to keeping my floors in good shape when I don't want to pull out my bulky vacuum. This was a great find!

My Grandmother had one of these when I was a kid. I did not even know they still made them. My mini vac I have had for years broke and I went looking for a replacement. I use the mini vac for a quick clean up like for cat litter and small kitchen messes. I went online and found out that a decent mini vac is pretty expensive. I always had some issues with my old mini vac. One of which was it's charge, the other was emptying it out. The charge ws not for very long and as it got older the charge held less and less. Emptying the damn thing was a mess and half the time I had to put it back together and use it again to clean the stuff that fell onto the floor when I was trying to empty it. I saw the carpet sweeper while I was looking for a new mini vac and decided that I would go old school and buy one. It works just as good if not better then I remember my Grandmothers working. It picks up everything you push it over with no problem on carpet or bare floor. Emptying it is a breeze and all the junk falls right into the garbage can with no mess. It makes no noise so it does not scare my cats or my dog. If you are looking for something to clean up small messes fast buy a carpet sweeper instead of a mini vac. It is cheaper and just plain works better.
