I read a lot of reviews, wasn't sure what to purchase or how good it would be. This machine is amazing! It may sound disgusting however, follow directions for deep cleaning, the clean solution goes down, back and forth twice at a slow pace, and the amount of black water being sucked up from the rug was shocking and amazing. This is not like rug shampooers from years ago that kind of swirl bristles and wet the rug . This is a methodical cleaning machine . You can see the difference from where you just went over the rug and where you are heading. The solution is heated, the rug is not wet when done, and the results are satisfying Pros: Easy to put together. Easy to operate Powerful suction which leaves the rug only slightly damp Pulls dirt from deep down Rugs appear much cleaner, major stains removed, traffic areas look clean Pet accidents /slight stains totally removed Easy to clean the machine The tool they provide to clean the machine is excellent Cons: Slightly heavy to maneuver, picturing someone lighter using it. Uses up a good amount of cleaning product, however it cleans very well so... Cleaner has a distinct and overpowering chemical smell- dissipates in a few hours The dirty water compartment could hold more water with less emptying but it's not all that bad. ... show more

This Bissell is one of the best purchases ever, in my opinion. My amazingly kind landlord would have the carpet cleaned or replaced at my request. Once we did have Zero-Rez come in, but the results were to me less than perfect - a few spill stains remained when the carpet dried. Having this machine facilitates my ability to clean to my standards, saves my landlord invoices, and I can clean as often as I wish. It works quite effectively on car upholstery and carpet as well, for which I used the attachments. With this Bissell, I can for years save on both home and car cleaning, to my satisfaction. It does take time to clean the machine, which I expect is true of any such device. The included double-ended flexible cleaning tool works well for it. I am always amazed at how much dirt it removes. For a 1 BR apartment I remove the extraction water tank and refill clean water 3x. Easy to use for this senior citizen, and reasonably lightweight. ... show more

Really pleased with my purchase. When I first took the deep cleaner out of the box, I was skeptical. It's made mostly out of plastic and seemed a little flimsy. I wasn't sure how well it would hold up. But honestly, I'm pretty impressed. Pros: - This is a light machine. Even with liquids in the tank, it's easy to move around. - The agitating brushes and the suction are excellent. The filth that came out of my entry rug inside my front door was impressive. I went over the rug several times and it just kept pulling dirt out. - The machine is very easy to clean and maintain. There are some thoughtful design decisions that make cleanup a breeze. - Although my initial impression is that the machine is flimsy, the light weight is a positive thing-- especially if you're hauling up and down stairs. Neutral Thoughts: - Not sure how well the "ProHeat" works. I only cleaned a small runner rug. So, there was hardly time for the cleaning solution to cool. In fact, I'm not sure the "ProHeat" feature is much of a selling point for me. See "Cons" for more. - The price is a little high, but you do get several attachments for cleaning stairs and deep cleaning carpet stains. Cons: - Regarding "ProHeat", it's an essentially useless feature if you're going to use your solution immediately (with hot water from the tap). - The dirty water tank is tiny. They make it look like it should hold a gallon or so, but if you look at the side of the tank, the "Full" line is only about 40% of the total volume of the tank. - Because of the small dirty water tank, you'll be emptying the tank frequently on larger deep cleaning jobs. Anyway, despite some of the "cons" of this machine, I would recommend it. I didn't want to use a nasty rented carpet cleaner (who knows where it's been). Since I have an entire second floor that's carpeted, as well as several area rugs on the first floor of my home, investing in a carpet cleaning machine made sense. ... show more

Cleans well. This is a replacement for a 14 year old Bissell Carpet Cleaner (Bladder tank style) that died of old age. That machine had excellent cleaning but was clumsy to fill and empty. This machine is easy to fill and empty and cleans almost as well. Pros: easy to fill one gallon solution tank, this machine is lighter to carry and move, very easy to empty, easy to clean when finished and it looks nice (I have the Blue color model). Cons: Short cord (20 feet versus twenty-eight feet), handle release pedal is too small and hard to operate with "gym shoes" "On/Off" switch is easy to see but low on the body of the machine (I have to bend to reach, should be on the handle), Dirty Water tank is large, but float shutoff does not allow it to fill more than one third of the way which means many trips to empty. (be creative and use a rubber band to restrict the float mechanism and that problem is solved, just be sure to empty the Dirty Water tank every time you refill the solution tank . I would buy again as it does clean very well for a good price. ... show more
