First the overall. This vac is just great. It has a better suction process than the 3 shark vacuum cleaners I had previously. It is lighter than you think, and the turn radius is easy as well. PROS It is lighter than your average vac, I have a bad back and had NO ISSUES moving this thing up and down the stairs. Suction is MUCH better than my previous vac. Design was smart - all the tools can be placed in easy grab area's and do what it is they are supposed to do. Self winding cord - a blessing. It works right and you do not have to feel like you are storing rope. Hose is pretty long. Works great on flat surfaces and you can dial in the height based on your rug pile level. CONS If you do not turn the dial for the height, you could burn a spot in your rug. The brush wheel keeps spinning even when upright. So basically, if you dial it in correctly --- you don't have to worry. It is louder than my old vac, but it is doing a wayyyy better job. This has been the best vacuum I have ever owned or operated. Pros: 1. The wind up power cord makes this vacuum so easy to put away. 2. It's pretty easy to manage. It feels large enough to do a heavy duty job but light enough to easily move around. (dont have stairs in my house so not sure how easy it would be to maneuver up and down) 3. It's easy to clean out. I've had this for almost a year and just the other day finally took it apart and washed all the removable parts. This is the first vacuum I have ever owned that doesnt get hair and fur all wrapped up in the brush and need to be cleaned weekly. Even after almost a year and constantly checking the brush there was very little hair wrapped around the brush. This is by far the thing I love most about it! The suction power is average. Cons. 1. The hose is a bit short and makes it difficult to clean edges and corners without having the vacuum kinda in your way. 2. The power cord comes out from the right of the vacuum. Now this is only a problem for a right handed person. It just seems difficult to handle the vacuum with my right hand while the power cord is always crossing paths to my left hand trying to keep it out of the way. Overall: I have owned two shark vacuums in the past and both suction hoses on those started to crack and split within a year. But they were lightweight and easily maneuverable. I grew up with my mom's Kirby (the old bagged kind with all the attachments even a carpet steamer/cleaner). The suction on that was unbeatable, but it was so heavy and big. I feel this Bissell is the best of both worlds. Good suction and attachments, but lightweight. Such a good buy I went and ordered another Bissell for my Nephew when he needed a vacuum. I’ve been buying commercial and expensive vacuums ever since my wonderful 20 year old hoover died. Hoover is now junk, wasted money on trying 2 of their commercial ones. Tried a couple others and my son found this right before i was about to buy another expensive one. He said it was suggested by amazon as best reviews or something. I told him it’s just a cheap vacuum won’t do us any good. Big house in the country, 8 kids, all kinds of animals in and out. Construction going on all the time. As i was reading the reviews for the other ones he kept trying to get me to try this one. So i said what could it hurt to give it a shot since it’s so cheap. I’m extremely impressed. The suction even works awesome on my thick wool rugs. It vacuums the hardwood floors without spitting stuff all over the place. I bought a second one for the second floor even. The retractable cord i figured would break. Even with all the kids using it, it is still working fine. The only problem i have is that the cord seems too short. It won’t reach across my bedroom. I do have a large bedroom and I’m used to long commercial cords so that maybe why. I also do not like bagless vacuums, but i will live with this since it cleans better than any I’ve had in years. Wish they made it take bags as i hate the dust when emptying them. But that’s a small price to pay for actual clean floors. If it breaks, it’s cheap enough to just buy another but so far i think it’s going on a year now and we just vacuumed up big chunks of sheetrock with a bunch of sheetrock dust just fine.     • Worthy Vacuum with one Exception

I bought this to replace a vacuum that died. We have a dog with medium length hair that gets everywhere so we needed a vacuum that could handle it. I have used this for around a year now. The suction power of this vacuum is wonderful! There isn't much it will leave behind. I've used it on both carpet and hardwood floors with overall positive results. I had a somewhat harder time on carpet because the dog hair would get tangled in the belt (it gets through the belt cover easily). It smelled like burning (and it was!) The dog hair had completely clogged the belt compartment. Frustrating, considering it is a pet vacuum, meant for picking up pet hair! However, once a month I would remove the belt cover and clean it out. No problems since. Takes about 5 minutes and its back in business. Is it worth the extra work? I think so. The rest of the vacuum functions very well and now I use it on hardwood floors only with no problems at all. Maneuverability is great (it swivels) and the tools are overall nice (the pet hair attachment doesn't work as well as just using the attached hose, btw). Cannisters and filters are easily cleanable. Love the tiny details like the side brushes to pull dust and debris out from the walls as you vacuum. THE CORD REWIND feature is the best part to me. I've had this feature on many vacuums and they either didn't pull the cord all the way in or they'd lose winding strength over time. This is the first vacuum I've had where the cord retracts 100% every time! I would recommend this vacuum. If you have thick carpet and a long-haired dog you may need to watch the belt for hair accumulation. Otherwise it is a wonderful purchase! ... show more
