The threads on the axle stub of a VW beetle were stripped. This needs 200ftlbs and I didn't want to mess around replacing the whole part. I saw reviews for this tool and took a chance, the m24x1.5 thread worked perfectly. Some reviews say it messed up their threads. Maybe they were unlucky or had bad techniques. I cleaned the threads with brake cleaner and a brush, then hit them with oil and worked the tool little by little. Tighten one turn, back off, 1.5 turns, back off, 2 turns, back off, keep progressing I removed it every few turns to look over the threads, cleaned them again, and sprayed more oil. The nut gets hot as it does its thing. After about 5 minutes my threads were good as new and the new castle nut worked smooth. Great tool to have for things like this. It saved me from spending $100+ on a new part and having to spend hours replacing a part.

Ever make a mistake with axel spindle on your car? I did and this kit was a life saver. The spindle threads were all wonky and this kit was able to correct the threads. Great value for the money, especially in comparison to a new axel!

For a thread chaser this is fantastic. This is not a tap and die set, some reviews say it doesn't work to "re-thread" and that's not what it claims to do. If you have damaged threads on an axle spindle, this will re-chase them and clean them up.
