This is a very nice mug and warmer set. It looks modern. It has a very soft feel to the mug. I personally HATE porcelain and ceramic because of the sound it makes when the bottom scrapes ANYTHING but this? When moving it on and off the warmer, there is NO sound. But I give it 3 stars because it doesn't really heat the liquid or stay very hot unless you put a cover on it, which it did not come with. The directions do warn that the temperature of your room will affect the heating but the thing is, I don't drink coffee in a 80 degree F room. It should have come with a cover for it. That said, if you do cover your mug, it WILL heat cold water to the temperature that you want your hot liquids to be. I use instant coffee myself (do NOT tell the coffee police) and it works fine. Also, I bought this and a few other things including a plastic bottle of vitamins. I didn't realize there is no button to turn it on/off. I set my new things aside while doing something else and set the large bottle of soft gel vitamins on the warmer. My daughter, being helpful, plugged in the mug warmer. When I go to put away my new things, the bottle of vitamins is melted to the mug warmer and most of the soft gels had melted together. The mug warmer still works but there is a thin coating of melted plastic that causes my mugs to stick to the hot surface. That was a fun situation when I had to jerk it free with a cup full of hot coffee. That said, clean up of THAT mess was easy. ... show more

The warmer is decent, keeps your coffee warm, not hot, which is better than it sitting and getting cold before you can finish the cup. The cup is smaller than described (the one I received was 12 oz and was supposed to be 14oz). You can use any regular coffee mug. I didn’t realize you could just buy the warmer alone. I ended up returning the cup&warmer and purchasing the warmer which was $17 as compared to $34!! ... show more

WireCutter recommended. Took a chance of a refurbished one, listed as “purple”, at half price. I would prefer black but couldn’t resist the price. It’s the blackest purple I’ve ever seen! Nice long cord. Simple approach: one temperature, mechanical switch activated by weight which is so accurate that my empty cup doesn’t turn it on. Instructions say cup should have a flat bottom, but the nice included cup doesn’t and neither does the one I use, both of which work fine. Keeps my coffee at a nice temperature until the finish. The warmer is excellent except there is no way to adjust the temperature, it’s either on or off. The easy adjustment is simply take the mug off the warmer for a few minutes until it cools off a little Glad we got it.

I was looking forward to getting this and I am please that my coffee stays warm. Assuming the cup it comes with is slightly more than halfway full However 1. If ANY part of your cup is metal, it will get scorching HOT and you are in for a BURN. I have a popular brand of insulated mug; the (flat) bottom is stainless steel - it has a metal “core” as do MANY insulated and travel cups. Reaching for it, I ended up with a painful blistered burned hand. I imagine that many users of a coffee warmer would also have travel cups that are partly or mostly steel with insulating bands. WATCH OUT! Your travel cup is not suitable for this. 2. How long the warmer stays hot Is VERY VARIABLE. Sometimes it turns off when there is not enough weight or after some period of time. BUT, sometimes it doesn’t turn off! Last night, in the evening, HOURS after morning coffee & cup were removed, I accidentally touched it…and to was blazing HOT. Got a potholder to move it. So, Be VERY CAREFUL - it acts like a temperamental hot plate. On the other hand, I can make HOT cocoa from slightly warmed milk… All that said, I like it. - but I think it really needs a a couple warnings. Mine has almost boiled milk (!) & the plate really gets hot. I like that it has no switched, etc. and it may be that my unit is defective…? Also, if anything spills on it - some coffee drips - it is impossible to clean, the drip burns in. I unplugged it and tried to wipe off with cool water- no luck. I don’t know what non-abrasive cleaner I can use. ... show more
