This review is for the Berserker 1-9/16" SDS-Max Heavy Duty Rotary Hammer Drill. While I have not used it long enough to know about durability, it has a lot of power and performance for the low price. I took off 1 star due to not having a grounded plug, which I definitely want for working in soil. I bought this for cutting a very large hole in extremely hard, compacted soil. The hole goes down nearly 5 feet, then 68 inches horizontally beneath a wide concrete walk to access plumbing to make repairs. I was skeptical about the weight (16 pounds) which for me is a lot to wield while on my knees when going horizontally, especially with several pounds of front end weight added with a large drill or blade for cutting. It does cut like a beast in hammer mode, and when working vertically the weight makes drilling or cutting both easy and very fast. PROS 1. very powerful - easily drills or cuts very heavy soil that has been compacted for house foundation which is hard enough to make using a pick nearly useless 2. SDS chuck works great when bit ends are greased 3. variable speeds, although I never needed lower speeds for what I was doing 4. a wide variety of bits for drilling, cutting, etc. are easy to find online and all SDS Max bits I have tried work great 5. vibration suppression works well 6. hammering is about zero unless some pressure is applied, allowing easy repositioning without releasing power grip CONS 1. NOT A THREE PRONG(GROUNDED) PLUG, unlike the description in the manual 2. the rotatable handle is difficult to turn even when made very loose, but it does go 360' and does stay put while working

Like other positive reviews, this tool is a fantastic value. We are doing a kitchen remodel, the cabinets were supposed to take 2-3 months to manufacture and ship, and we just found out that they will ship in two weeks. On short notice we have been unable to find someone to remove the current flooring tile which is just over 500 square feet. So I ordered the Beserker 1-9/16" SDS-Max which made the job of cermaic tile removal nearly effortless. The tiles were 12"x12" and a 3" x 12" chisel seemed to be the sweet spot. Wider and narrower chisels didn't remove the tiles as quickly and effectively in addition to easier removal of the mortar holding the tile in place on the OSB subfloor. Surprisingly there was minimal damage to the OSB and out of the just over 500 square feet removed I only needed 1 qt. of premixed leveling compound to fix the few damaged areas so the surface was ready to receive Triton backer board and the new tile. If you need to remove flooring tile then you won't be disappointed by purchasing this rotary hammer. BTW, I had received quotes from $5 to $20 per square foot for tile removal BUT no one was available to do the work based on the accelerated schedule. So for around $200 and a 3 day July 4th weekend I saved spending an additional $2500 to $8000. That makes a very impressive cost to value ratio for this tool.

2 years ago I put together a driveway extension with pave stones, and used 6x6 pressure treated timbers to act as a frame. I use 1/2" four foot rebar pieces driven through the timbers into the ground to secure the frame. I bought a milwaukee SDS-Plus rotary hammer/drill/hammer drill thinking it could drive the rebar in and I wouldn't exhaust myself with a sledge hammer. It only partially worked, it could drive in about 18 to 24 inches, and then it was back to using a sledge hammer. This took 20 to 30 minutes per rebar "pin". (There were 40 or more pins, so you get the picture) When I started a similar but smaller pave stone project for my back yard 30 days ago, I knew that I needed something else to drive the rebar in. My research led me to this Chinese made beast, and the reviews were all fairly positive. Most importantly, the specs were at least twice what the Milwaukee could do. Long story short, it worked like a champ. It would drive the rebar through 18 inches of landscaping timbers and some of the hardest clay/sandy soil you could imagine. So far, no issues what so ever. It also made short work of a 125 pound piece of concrete, busting it into manageable pieces in 5 minutes or so. Something the Milwaukee couldn't make a dent in after over 2 hours of trying. One bit of advice, plan on ordering more grease right away, the tiny tube they give you plus what's pre-loaded in the tool doesn't last long.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I used this SDS to break up a concrete pad and to tear out ceramic tile at my house. It handled both with no problem. The cost of this tool was less than a week rental. Very pleased.

This Berserker 1-9/16" SDS-Max Heavy Duty Rotary Hammer Drill is an excellent tool and is easy to use. It has Vibration Control that makes it comfortable to use and protecting your wrists from jarring. It is 13 Amp so it is very powerful. It has variable speed so you can adjust the speed for the right force. You can switch from hammering only to hammer drill for power drilling. It comes with an extra chuck for SDS-Plus so you can use both size tools. I've use it a lot in the short time I have owned it. A must for any contractor or construction worker. I love this tool.
