Great quality, low price

Nice mini PC at a great price. Decent speed and runs vm images without problems. Installed SATA drive which wasn't found at first, had a slight problem getting into bios; in the end reseated the M2 drive and no more issues. Very happy with this machine. Best of all is that it has a fan.

Great computer. Challenging support.

The performance and price are exceptional. I also really like the size. It fits my ham radio setup perfectly, running two monitors and driving a USB hub to connect everything. It worked great out of the box. No problems on setup. After about two months, it started to crash. Restart would sometimes work. At times on restart it wouldn't be able to find the wi-fi or bluetooth hardware in the computer. After pulling the DC power connection, it would reset and restart fine. But still had a once in a while crash. I found the Beelink support page and the support email. Forwarded my problem. They responded the next day with suggested troubleshooting actions and asked for serial number, receipt, and BIOS screen shots. I tried all their recommendations but it still crashed. At that point, support said to send it back to a USA address. It took them a couple of weeks to confirm that it arrived, even with the FedEx proof of delivery. It appears that they only check arrivals on Fridays from what's accumulated during the previous week. Once they confirmed it had arrived, they shipped a replacement and provided tracking information. It arrived quickly. The replacement unit matched the original specification except that instead of the original unit's two HDMI ports, this one has one HDMI and one DP port. It still works fine for my setup but with one different cable. The folks running the email support always responded within a day and were helpful. There was just a long delay reviewing what happened in the USA with return of the computer. Once that happened, replacement was fairly quick. The replacement is working well so far.

Better than expected

This computer is a little speed demon. I don't play computer games, but I do some video and audio editing for my wife's YouTube channel, I run livestreams for her as well and this computer has been fantastic. I personally write sci-fi and use a 3D mapping program for keeping track of real-life star systems and this computer handles that program very well. I am running three monitors with no problem. The computer was easy and fast to set up. It handles my 1Gb network very well, getting dowloads of around 850 Mbps and uploads around 950 Mbps. I'm streaming music or movies almost all day long while working and have had no issues. I will note that there can be some fan noise when I am pushing the workload, but that is going to be true with any computer. It is so small that I am able to put the computer on the backside of my desk which all but eliminates hearing the fan noise. it is never as loud as a server, so I can easily deal with it, and with a little music playing, you don't even notice it. Plenty of storage and memory for all my needs. I did add a powered USB hub to add connections for all the extra hardware I use (headphones, scan gun, printer, keyboard, mouse, external hard drive bays, thumb drives, Ubikey, GoPro, WebCam, etc). Everything has been working great and very fast.

great little media server

Bought this a year ago. I have been happy with this for my media server during that time. First thing I did was backup and remove Windows (backup in case I had to return this item). It came with a 1T nvme drive. I added a 2T SSD (the literature does not always show that this can be done) and a 2.5g network adapter (USB). I installed Ubuntu server on a small 128G external SSD. On that drive I also installed Plex, Plexamp headless server, and CamillaDSP. The Beelink is hooked to a Topping DAC with USB. All media is on the 1T and 2T drives. It serves video to the connected TVs in the house, music to network connected speakers, and music to the main stereo through the DAC. It never stutters or buffers. The fan can be loud, but I rarely hear it run on high. When not in use it is put to sleep with an SSH command from my phone. Wake-up is from a WOL app. My model has a 5800H cpu with 16G and 1T storage included. Price and performance is much better now after 13 months. No surprise there.

Good specs. low price

This was my second SER5. The first was an SER5 Pro, the difference isn't really noticeable to me. Different CPUs. but both AMD Ryzen 7's. I use them both with FreeBSD. I give it 4 stars mostly because of the large plug, the sort that takes up two outlets on a surge protector, though one can always get a 6" extension cord. I never booted it into Windows so can't talk about how it is as a Windows machine. While this will only affect a few users, this one has a Realtek RL8125 ethernet card. FreeBSD didn't see this card, after installation, I had to install realtek-re-kmod from packages to get it to work. I couldn't install from the boot only image either, as it didn't see the wireless card during initial discovery--using the full image however, it was able to configure the wireless, an AX200 which has good speed. These are minor nits--a 3rd issue was that when I set BIOS to boot from USB first, after removing the USB, it would get stuck looking for a boot device. This was fixed by going back to the BIOS and setting the hard drive as default boot device (which is what it is out of the box). None of these are show stoppers, just minor inconveniences. It still has good specs for the cost and I'd buy it again. It's about twenty dollars less than the pro and, for my (non-gaming) purposes, gives equally good performance. (though I didn't have the unable to find boot or unable to see ethernet issues with the pro, but that might be because the pro uses a slightly older ethernet card. The pro uses the driver for the RT8111/8168/8211/8411, though it also has the large power cord plug which the EQ series doesn't have. I didn't actually look at the BIOS to confirm that it's doing what Beelink usually does, allotting 4GB of memory to the GPU, but looking at dmesg (in FreeBSD) I get (with dmesg |grep memory) real memory = 34359738368 (32768 MB) avail memory = 29095784448 (27747 MB) However, for my use of this machine, which is mainly to store backups and perhaps, do some video encoding, this is more than enough RAM for my use of it.

Great little PC at a great price - UPDATE: Fan failing

I bought this little pc to act as a Plex server in order to stream video from my home library to friends and family, and I’m more than pleasantly surprised by its performance. I wanted to wait at least a month after working with it before my review, and I’m happy to report it works flawlessly and reliably. Not only is it able to stream 4 1080p streams simultaneously without issue, but it even works well for gaming. I’m able to run Star Trek Online with all my settings maxed out, and the performance is leagues above any of the integrated graphics options provided by intel. About the only minor annoyance to the system is the fan noise, but it’s not something I find unusual. Every ITX mini pc I’ve bought has made fan noise when under load, which is a trade off of having a machine this small with a relatively beefy processor. It’s also been stable since the day I unboxed it and set it up, which is a huge plus. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had a pc this size that ends up having a number of serious reliability issues. Overall, if you’ll be using it for media playback, you’ll be better off putting it somewhere where the fan noise won’t be an issue (like a cabinet), but I have mine out in the open and it’s not enough of an issue for me to complain about it. I’d easily buy this again. UPDATE: After purchasing it last January, the cooling fan started making a rattling sound. I've had to switch to a 5-year-old mini Asus PC that's worked consistently and without issue. Waiting to hear from customer support about fan replacement model and process. This computer is simply not old enough for these types of issues to present themselves.

Computers are improving - only thing fighting inflation (Moore's Law)

I think many write reviews when they have a problem with their purchase. Understandable. So far this computer has been fine. I bought it for my wife. Like buying her a corvette when all she needed was a VW GTI. I bought a minisforum HX90 mini a year ago. Loved it. This Beelink was about half the price but with almost the same performance. I also got her a 4k 32" monitor. Though she isn't very computer savvy I think it is selfish to not give her a nice fast mini computer. Replaced an old all in one with a Core I5. I got 32 gig of ram since I think this is a must. Boots fast. Doesn't run too hot because let's face it she doesn't stress it. WiFi is ok but had hoped for a little faster. It's about 50% of Ethernet speed. The Bios is very basic and the CPU cannot be overclocked. I expect these will be a better deal on Black Friday but I didn't want to wait. Windows 11 pro is over $150. And this mini is $350. Hmmmmm. May want to consider getting a mini computer. If I have future problems I will update my review. UPDATE 6/2024 - So far this computer has been great. Happy with the purchase.

Started out great, until the Wi-Fi interface died

This was a great purchase for my 10-year-old son to have a computer of his own in the family room. He uses it to do schoolwork, watch internet videos and play games. Unfortunately, although it's less than a year old, the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi interfaces have both died. Otherwise, it provided plenty in terms of performance, and is essentially silent in operation. Was really happy with it until the Wi-Fi stopped working. UPDATE: Submitted a support request over the weekend, outside of support hours. Got an email response Monday morning with some instructions to try resetting the CMOS. Followed the instructions when I got home from work, and to my surprise both the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi issues are resolved, it's working great again. Revising my rating based on past performance as well as a surprisingly good tech support experience.
