This thing was so hot in-between un-capping honey comb that it was burning the honey and wax residue on it. So it, was excessively melting the wax and created a mess. For honey extraction - not the tool. Anthony

Since I had not used an uncapping knife before, I had quite a bit of trouble uncapping several frames. Then I watches a couple of videos online. Now, I am fairly adept at slicing those cappings off. Like most things, there is a learning curve, so don't be discouraged at first. I saw a well known beekeeper who used a $200 knife, Of course, he has hundreds of hives. I only have one hive, so this should work well for years. Just wish it was made in the US! Come on, people, let's bring stuff back to the good, old, US of A!     • Runs too hot and no temp control.
I have used a more expensive uncapping knife with a temp control and did ok with it. They hurt my wrist so ai wanted to get an inexpensive one to try while I decided for sure if it was a good tool for me. This knife heats up fast and does uncap wax comb but runs too hot with no way to adjust temperature. It caramelized my honey as I cut and also seemed to almost reseal the comb in a smooth layer of melted wax as I went.     • Worth the upgrade
In past years we used a serrated uncapping knife and this year we used this knife. It works amazing. There is no on or off, only the plug. To keep it cooler when we weren't using it we kept it in a bucket of water, though when we took it out, we had to wait a minute for it to warm up to use.

I purchased this June -2022 never really got hot . Just tried using it and it popped the breaker , has a shot. I wouldn’t buy this again. Wouldn’t recommend it.
