We got this bed rail for my husband, who has both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases, because he has started falling out of bed at night. Building the unit was very simple using the easy-to-follow steps in the user manual that came with the rail. The bed rail is easily adjustable with push-button dots that let you adjust the length of the bars. It's lighter-weight than you might expect at first, but this doesn't seem to detract from its performance, since it is embedded in the mattress and very sturdily emplaced on the floor. I see the weight as a positive, since it made it easier to build and carry. My biggest worry was how a device with so little coverage along the edge of the bed could prevent my husband from falling out of it. I'm thinking back to the bunk beds we had as kids in the 60s and the wooden rail that ran the full length of the bed (and my brother still tumbled out a time or two!) Well, worry not, this bed rail works great if it's placed in the proper location (which I tweaked a bit the first couple of nights). I had initially placed it in the middle, which interfered with his getting out of bed easily to use the bathroom at night. The best location is about 4/5 of the way up toward the headboard. The rail serves as a support device to help him stand, and it prevents him from rolling out of bed. The unit comes with a motion-sensor-activated night-light, which we decided to deploy elsewhere in the house. We live in a townhouse and have adequate ambient light at night to see our way to the bathroom, so we put it in the kitchen to save turning on the light out there when we make a water run at night. The device works well; it has multiple settings, a velcro backing, and a nice, bright LED light. This is a great-quality bed rail at a very fair price. I highly recommend it!

Once assembled, this bed rail feels sturdy and secure. The handle provides good support for getting in and out of bed safely, and the pouch/light are useful additions. It definitely feels more stable than some cheaper assist rails I’ve seen before. The frustrating part was the instructions. They weren’t terrible, but definitely could’ve been clearer during setup. After assembly though, it worked very well and gave much better support than expected.

This bed rail is very high quality and perfect for anyone with mobility problems around the bed. You get everything you need and its pretty much snap together (see photos). The only thing is the assembly instructions are not that great as the images are not clear on the facing of the parts so a little trial and error will be needed. If you are elderly, then please do get someone to help with assembly as I did find some strength is needed to push the pipes together. What I did love was the sensor light that was included. The sensor light actually works real well and is a great safety feature. Its rechargeable and very portable. It has velcro on it so it can be attached to the bed rail but they also include adhesive magnets so you can stick it anywhere. This allowed us to attach it to the end of the bed so that it lights up when approaching or leaving. It is sensitive enough and works great! I was amazed of the range (6 ft) and angle. Its perfect brightness and a single charge seems to last a few weeks. It is programmable to suit some different situations to operate only in darkness or all the time. The bed rail comes with a strap to wrap around a twin mattress for better stability but we found we didn't need to use and we had a queen so sticking it under the queen was just fine. The bed rail itself is very good sturdy construction and I like that its snap together with lots of height adjustment options. Both the legs and rail can be adjusted and no tools needed to adjust - just remember some strength is needed to pull or push to adjust the heights. We really love this bed rail and was glad we got it - the auto light feature was a pleasant surprise.

TL;DR: A solid, heavy-duty assist rail that is perfect for post-op recovery and keeping grandkids safe in a big bed. Please do not judge me, but this thing was way harder to assemble than it should have been—and it is entirely my own fault, not the seller's! This isn't my first rodeo, so I was confident I could "figure it out" without the manual. Well, I ended up having to redo it because I didn't place the little bar first like the instructions recommended. They even put numbers on the feet to help people like me, so learn from my pride and just look at the guide! Once built, it is totally sturdy and incredibly easy to customize. I love that there are way more than just three hole choices for the height. Since I’m installing this solo on a California King, I can't really use the safety strap right now—not that I’d need it daily, but I can see how it would be a great feature for the grand-babies. For now, this is for me. My recent thoracotomy left me on the weak side, and I’m not ashamed to admit this is a very welcome addition to my life. Getting out of bed is a struggle lately, and this "helper" saves me from taking a dip on my face when I forget I'm limited. It reminds me to take it slow, helps me hoist myself up, and keeps me steady once I'm standing. As an extra bonus, I know I'll use it for the grandkids after I've recovered. My bed is our playground, and more than once my younger grand-daughter has ended up leg-up at the bottom of the bed near the wall; now she’ll be safe. Plus, the side pocket is a game-changer for my remote! My grandkids usually destroy my velcro setups or ruin the bed baskets I try to use, but now the remote has a dedicated home right where I can reach it. Quality, safety, and a fair price—it's a massive win for my road to recovery and for being a happy Mammy.

Oh my goodness, I love this so much! I am disabled with about 20% usage of my limbs. I had considered purchasing this before but I was hesitant as to whether it would be beneficial. I can confidently say that it is INCREDIBLY beneficial! In fact, I’m pretty bummed I only now ordered it! Getting out of bed used to be a tight rope act. I have CRPS so little unexpected bumps can cause weeks of agonizing 10+ pain. As such, hubs made an awesome custom blanket lifter to protect my sensitive feet at night. But in order for that large bar to be secure it’s with legs that turn in on both sides of the bed. Then with my nightstand, that leaves me with barely 2.5’ space to get up and onto my knee scooter. Using the extended blanket lifter bar is not stable for my weight; it’s only for balancing the bar and blanket edges. And using my knee scooter as leverage is dangerous, as has been proven in enough cases. In comes this excellent bed rail! I’ve never felt more secure getting out of bed! I’ve complimented it to hubs every morning I’ve gotten up safely with it! This helps with my self-mobility and reliance like I can’t even express. Hubs said it was a piece of cake to assemble. I haven’t used the light portion as I have several blankets hanging over that part. But the rail itself; it’s so easy to use and is truly a blessing game changer!!
